1The tee is the highest and coldest point on the course. A tough opening Par 4, a 5 here is not a problem! Aim at the centre of the distant bunker from the tee, your second shot mu2Aim to skirt the copse on the right to find the right side of the fairway to give the best approach to the green which slopes from left to right.3Bigbury's first short hole is a little uphill and usually plays longer than it's actual yardage, so club up one or two. The bunkers are short of the green and tend to give a false 4A generous Par 5, unless against the wind. A good drive to the wide fairway will give you a good opportunity to clear the main hazards, 2 mounds around 150 yards from the green.5Another deceptive Par 3, the grass bunker is a good 40 yards short of the surface. However the green is long and narrow so a straight shot coming up a little short will give a bett6JH Taylor cleverly used the church spire as a natural marker, aim straight at it to find the right half of the sloping left to right fairway.7A beautifully appealing Par 3 rated as one of the finest in Devon. The green sits in a bowl and a bold shot to the right side and a little long will often run round the wall and on8A par 5 that often rewards players with birdies and eagles as the fairway runs sharply downhill for 150 yards to the green which is very flat.9In the opposite direction to the 8th, an uphill par 5 with a fairway that throws the ball left. The entire hole climbs up to a generously mounded green that is deceptively long, so10A downhill par 3. Aim for the bunker on the left and the ball will feed into the putting surface from left to right. The green slopes from front to back so putting can be a challen11Arguably the toughest hole at Bigbury, a really good par 5. Uphill all the way back to the Clubhouse, the fairway also slopes from right to left and a well placed bunker awaits 12512An inviting hole playing away from the Clubhouse. Aim for the right half of the fairway which slopes from right to left, the right hand bunker is 35 yards short of the green which13The best position to approach the small green is from the left side of the fairway, the marker is the perfect line.14A blind drive, so aim straight at the marker post and you will finish on the left half of the fairway to give the best approach line.15Take a few seconds to savour the amazing views of the Avon estuary, Bantham & Bigbury beaches and Burgh Island. A lovely green complex that gathers the ball from the right side.16A 90 degree dogleg and long hitters are tempted to go over the corner and the green can be driven. However, the sensible approach is to play to the marker post on the corner and th17The shortest par 3 but it's well bunkered and is no pushover, especially when the wind is up. The front bunker tends to foreshorten the hole and a long green plays 3 clubs differen18A fine finishing par 4 hole slightly uphill and often into the wind. Out of bounds is left, however a brave tee shot hugging the left side will reward with the best line in to the
