1One of the hardest opening holes in the south east. Measuring 467 from the back tees, this hole requires a long drive and a long iron/wood to a right to left sloping green2After a tough opening hole, it doesn’t get much easier. This par 3 plays shorter than its yardage but it is well guarded by three bunkers. Beware as the out of bounds runs down t3This is the first and shortest of the three par fives at Chigwell, but by no means is it the easiest. The hole is a slight dog leg from left to right and requires a straight tee sh4Stroke index 1 on the card but it may not look it. Aim your tee shot down the left, as you can see the fairway slopes severely from left to right.5Probably the easiest of the par fives at Chigwell. Balls tend to gather on the left side of the fairway or rough. 6The 6th is the shortest par 3 on the course, but it isn’t an easy green to hit. It’s quite small and is guarded by a deep bunker at the front. 7This hole offers no bail out area off the tee. It is essential you hit the fairway here to make your par. It’s only 363 yards from the back tee, so you can afford to hit 3 wood t8Position is the key on this hole. Aim your tee shot towards the oak on the left as the ball will feed round onto the fairway. You should only be left with a short approach giving y9The final hole on the front nine provides another opportunity to make a birdie before you head into the back nine. However this is only possible if you can miss the out of bounds a10A tricky par 3 with trouble short, left and right. A 3 here is always a good score. Make sure you take enough club as most golfers tend to finish short of the green where the bunke11A long straight drive is needed here. Right is a no go on this hole as you can be easily blocked out and give yourself no shot to the green. The bush on the right is at driving dis12The hole measures over 380 yards from the back so a driver is probably the best option. Once you have negotiated your tee shot through the shoot of trees, you are left with a mid-i13A reasonably short par 4 from an elevated tee. It isn’t an easy fairway to find with the left to right slope and most players tend to finish in the right rough. This leaves a sho14The longest par three on the course and also a very challenging one. The green is well protected by bunkers. 15From one tough hole to another. A long par 4 and the hardest on the back nine. This green is only in range in two shots for the long hitters.16The tee shot is the difficult bit on this dog leg 16th.
