1Welcome to Colonial Country Club, also known as Hoguns Alley in honor of 5 titles he won here. Annual host for the past 86 years to the event now known as Charles Schwab Challenge. It has hosted 3 major titles. The 41 US Open, the 75 Players Championship, and the 91 Womens Open. A left to right drive allows you to avoid the bunkers on the left and if you hit a good one you may have a shot to get home in two.2The second is a shorter dogleg right by Colonial standards but requires a left to right shot shape off the tee or you may end up in the fairway bunker on the left. Three bunkers surround the small green so a precise second s required.3The next 3 holes are 3 of the toughest on tour and known as the Horrible Horseshoe. The third hole at 467 yards is a dogleg left with 3 menacing bunkers on the left. These will intercept any shot trying to cut the corner. Avoiding those, youre still left with a mid to long iron. A left to right approach shot will enable you to skirt the bunkerPar is a great score here. Most players will do well to play this as a short par 5. 4At 252 yards from the tips, hole four is all the par three you could ever want and more. The green is guarded by two bunkers on the front and left. A right to left shaped three wood or driver from the tips allows you to skirt the bunkers and play for the green center. A par here will gain strokes on the field in virtually every event played here. 5Hole 5 known to locals as Bogey Beware truly lives up to its name if youre lucky. Its said that Hogan found every other course he ever played easy after growing up playing here. Remarkably the course record of 61 has been shot by 7 tour pros in events. 6Hole 6 brings some relief after running the gauntlet over the past 3. Avoid the fairway bunkers left and right on this slight dogleg right and there may be a par in your future he7Another long par 4 awaits here on hole 7 with large fairway bunker on the right. 8At just 194 yards from the tips 8 is the second shortest hole on the course. Surrounded by 4 bunkers The green center surrounded by 4 bunkers is best approached with a left to right shot from the tee.9Fairway bunkers guard the left and right of this 408 yard dogleg right par 4 suggest a left to right tee shot. Careful. Too much to the right and youre smack dab in the bunkers on If you're out of position after your tee shot, the surest way to a big number on this hole is try to carry the lake anyway. Two greenside bunkers guard the back for any players playing too safe.10Water off the tee on the left doesnt come into play except for very poorly hit drives. its just there as a distraction for the real trouble on this straight away par 4 which lies 1111 is a long narrow par 5 of over 600 yards from the tips. Avoid the two fairway bunkers on the left. Most players will do well to lay up with their second short of the two approach bunkers leaving themselves a short iron from 125 yards as their third. 12With fairway bunkers on the left and the right, dogleg left hole 12 favors a right to left tee shot. This will leave a mid iron to another green surrounded by 3 bunkers requiring a precisely struck approach. 13At 171 yards, 13 is the shortest hole on the course but Trinity River which cuts across the front at a 40 degree angle leaves many wondering about distance required to carry. Long is obviously a better option than short but leaves a tough up and down. 14Yet another long dogleg left par 4 of nearly 450 yards from the tips. Two fairway bunkers guard the left side of the fairway.Avoiding those is just half the battle as a precisely struck mid to long iron is required to reach the putting surface.Play for green center to avoid the two bunkers. Par is a great score here. 1515 is another longer par 4 of 428 yards form the tips where a left to right shaped tee shot fits best. Water runs along the left side of the fairway and green that must be avoided. 16At nearly 190 yards with a large lake between the tee and green, 16 still manages to be the number 18 handicap hole. The water does not reach the putting surface so there is more forgiveness here especially on the left half of the green.A precisely struck iron is still required to avoid the water and the three bunkers surrounding the green17At only 382 yards, 17 is one of the shortest par 4 holes on the course. A lake runs along the left of the fairway from the landing area to the green. You'll be left with a shorter iron approach to this green surrounded by three bunkers.18
