1Stay slightly left of center on your drive for the best angle to the green. If youre playing a longer iron or hybrid into this green, either due to being out of position off the tee or hitting into a headwind, the smart play is lay up short. Be advised this green does not hold the lower spin and lower trajectory shots. Augusta does not publish its green stimp meters but theyre estimated at 13-14. 2This hole plays as one of the easiest at Augusta National, so keep your drive in play to have the opportunity. Your drive and approach shot will carry further than usual due to tThe safest place to miss with your approach to this green unless the pin is back-right is on the right. Staying right avoids the big number on this hole. Give yourself an uphill putt.3Pin location is critical to deciding strategy on this short par 4. The green is driveable at just three hundred fifty from the tips, but a front pin placement strongly suggests yoThere is severe slope in this green so it must be factored into your approach to have a realistic shot at making birdieGive yourself an uphill putt. 4This par three is everything and more you'd ever want in a par 3. At 240 yards from the tips, even the pros have a difficult time holding the green after carrying the two bunkers If you're hitting into the wind, safe and smart play is to play it as a short par four, laying up short of the bunkers and walking away with no more than four as your score. Give yourself an uphill putt5A long par four. Must avoid the twenty foot deep fairway bunker to have any chance to go for the green in two. Most players will score better on this hole playing it as a short par 5. A hidden bunker just over the back edge of the green lies it wait for any overaggressive plays.6Pay close attention to the slopes in this green and play for them. Shots played to center will feed back to front left pin locations. Get your shot on the right tier and below the hole to have a decent chance at a two putt.7The fairway slopes left to right so left center drive is perfect. Shots toward the left side of the green often run off form that side.Leave yourself an uphill putt if possible. 8Ideal shot shape off this tee is a left to right shot. If you decide to try to carry the bunker and get home in two, just know you'll be lucky to hit a 6 iron out of that bunker .On your approach, its far better to miss or bail out to the right of this green than risk a near impossible recovery pitch or chip from the left. The green is diabolical. A big ridge runs left to right through the center, causing many three putts for those finding themselves on the wrong half. 9The tree off in the distance is your target to this blind tee shot. You wont feel the wind from this tee so remember the direction it was blowing on eight. The three tiered green has a false front. Playing for the middle of the green is the safest bet. 10This downhill par 4 provides a lot of help on your drive if you can hit the left side of the fairway. The huge bunker sixty yards short of the green makes it seem like you are closer than you really are. Trust the yardage. Leave yourself with an uphill putt short and left of the hole11Welcome to the start of Amen Corner. A very narrow fairway requires a very precise tee shot to avoid trees on both sides of the fairway. Miss right with your approach and the pond on the left comes into play as the green slopes sharply down towards it, thus requiring a super delicate pitch. This is one of the very few greens without extreme undulation, but don't underestimate the back to front and left to right slopes. 12The green has a depth of 9 yards over the center of the green front bunker so its very easy to go long. The left side of the green has slightly more depth at 16 yards. Shots missing the right edge will run back into the water13Catch your breath after the hike up. A right to left tee shot aimed at the light colored tree is perfect. Possible to carry the trees on the left but Raes Creek runs along the lefDont get mesmorized by the spectacular beauty of this approach. The green slopes left to right so you've got to hit toward the left side of that green to stay out of the waterIf your in doubt on your approach, bail out right leaving yourself with a pitch but remember that green and fringe both sloping down into the pond.14A right to left shaped shot fits this tee shot best. The green slopes steeply from left to right and must be factored into your approach by playing a right to left approach. This is made more challenging since the fairway is sloping THe first 20 yards of this green are a false front. 15The fairway slopes from right to left so a shot down the right side will feed back towards the center of the fairway. The approach shot is downhill some 40-60 feet so select your club carefully. If your drive is at all out of position, play smart and lay up. The green slopes back to front. Leave yourself an uphill putt for birdie of possible. 16Its an automatic bogey or worse over the green here, making it difficult to take on back right pin locations. Of course left or short are bogey or worse as well. Use the slope to funnel down to the front right and back left pins locations. 17The tee shot is far more forgiving without Eisenhauers tree. A well struck tee shot to the firm fairway here will leave you with a short to mid iron. While you cannot see the green, over the edge of the bunker, check the distance to center and back to ensure you hit the correct club to center pin. Over the back of the green is dead. 18A left to right tee shot is required here off of the fairway bunker.Theres a false front to this multitiered green and an uphill approach shot which plays 10-15 yards longer than the distance. Dont shortside yourself as the rough makes it very difficult to get up and down
