1The fairway slopes left to right, and the ideal tee shot will draw gently back to the middle, leaving a short iron to the green which slopes away from you. 2Although a similar length to the 1st hole, the 2nd plays uphill, and even a good drive will need a long iron or a fairway wood to reach the hidden green. Par is a good score here.3The third features a blind tee shot, and the ideal tee shot favours the left side of the generous fairway to avoid the second having to clear some of the deepest bunkers on the cou4The fourth presents a fantastic view over its sweeping length. A good drive to the right side of the sloping fairway will leave a short iron to the raised green. 5Well bunkered but downhill, a strong player will find this a driveable par 4. For the rest of us, a mid iron can be laid up short of the bunkers, leaving a wedge to a fiendishly tr6Stroke index 2 for a very good reason. Most players need a long iron or a fairway wood to get near the green in two, with a pair of bunkers defending the throat.7It won't feel like it after the 6th, but you are still climbing. The approach generally plays a club or two longer than you think! Keep your tee shot left to avoid the stand of tre8Pause for a moment when you have climbed up from the 7th green.9The ninth comes back uphill with a blind approach shot. You can choose between a lay-up to the bottom of the hill or take on the drive to the top to leave a short second and a good10A par four at weekends and in school holidays and a par three in the week and for ladies. As a par four, a drive or fairway wood to the top of the fairway will feed nicely down to 11Second of the par threes. Trees on the right, downhill on the left, bunkers in front. A good green to hit, but not too tricky an up and down from the left side.12The twelfth is a fanastic long par five, first of two 5's next to each other. A good tee shot will reach the top of a long, sweeping fairway turning left down to a tucked away gree1313 is the only hole on the course where water is really in play, with a stream that runs along the left side of the fairway and across the approach to the green14Make sure you take enough club here for your approach, the 14th plays sharply uphill to a shallow green.15The 15th is the longest par four on the course, but playing downhill can be reached with a good drive, that avoids the fairway bunkers, and a short iron. 16A narrow window to the 'corner', with trees either side, but a good drive to the dogleg will open up the approach, uphill to a long green that slopes towards you.17A really strong par 3, off the white tees around 200 yards, mostly carry, though a generous apron allows a lay-up. The treacherous green deserves respect.18Almost home, the 18th needs a good tee shot favouring the left side of the fairway, which will feed back to the middle, setting up an approach to a green twenty feet above your hea
