1A very neat and tight par three – especially from the back tees! Play short and you are in danger of wandering down to the left –or even worse – into the ditch. A well-guarded green and be careful of the newly extended bunker along the left hand side of the hole.2A straight drive over the marker post and you’ll land on thefairway. Stray left and woods await; stray right and the hole lengthens considerably and chances are you’ll be playing your next shot from behind a tree.3Tucked back into the trees, the tiered tee looks back towards Stirling and beyond. Another magnificent view.4The first of the 4 par threes on the course and it should be the easiest of them all.A straight well hit shot and you should be sitting nicely on the green. Standing on the tee, however, the rhododendrons surrounding the hole suddenly create a claustrophO-Bic feeli5A long hole, usually requiring at least 3 shots (sometimes a lot more) to reach the green.The biggest prO-Blem is the out-of-bounds running down the entire left hand side of the hole. Combine this with the trees running down the right hand side and the fairway seems to 6Drive over the marker post into the gully and you are faced with a blind shot ontothe green. Go up and check your next shot. Unless, of course, you discount the out-of-bounds and the slightly intruding tree and ditch to your left, and the rough and trees to your right. It almost12A hole with a stroke index rating of 2 gives an indication that there are some potential difficulties awaiting.13This should be one of the easiest par 4’s on the course.An easy drive out of the Augusta-style tee leaves a short chip onto an inviting green. An easy par, if not a birdie!14Another elevated tee making for beautiful views and an inviting drive. Keep the ball straight and you will have no worries with your second shot.Distance can be a prO-Blem for the higher handicap, requiring a nice pitch and putt to save the par. The 2nd fairway is always a popular (if not intended) route. A loud shout of �15A tough par three starts a very difficult run-in to your round. If you haven’t already picked up strokes to cut your handicap, I suspect it’s a little too late!This tough par 3 requires a long accurate tee shot to hit this raised green. Be short and you’re either in the bunkers that protect the approach to the green, or you still have t16Your tee shot here has to be long enough to allow you to carry the ridge for the second shot.If anything, be a little left off the tee as there is a very definite slope to the right carrying everything into the semi-rough which leaves a dangerous shot over the trees to get17A very inviting drive towards the Wallace Monument and you’ve left yourself a long, but straightforward shot to the green tucked away in the left hand corner.To the unsuspecting, this appears to hold no fears, but beware, running along the entire front of the green a ditch awaits.18Club House in sight, only one hole left and it’s only a par 3. What could be easier? Well, you’ve guessed it, there are a couple of prO-Blems.First of all, make sure you take enough club to carry you up to the plateau – short and you have a real prO-Blem with rough, bushes and a blind approach!
