1This opening par-5 is reachable if you can drive it tothe swale in the fairway.Like half the holes at Del Monte, out-of-bounds lines the left side.2A layup to the corner ofthe fairway should leave you less than 125 yards. The key is controlling your distance on the approach. The green slopes strongly from back-to-front.3Out-of-bounds lines the left side of the hole, but more trouble lurks atthe green. This hole and No. 12 feature two of the steepest greens on the course. Stay short if you can.4Middle of the green works here every timeHole locations to the left or right bring short-sided bunkers into play.5A layup short of thefairway bunkers leaves you just 100 yards for your approach. The green features a devilish top tier that you don't want to go over6A narrow throat threads two beefy bunkers, leaving little margin for error. Just don't overclubOut-of-bounds lurks long.7Take your tee shot straight over the tree inthe fairway. Be aware that out-of-bounds creeps in on the left side. The green features three tiers, so note the pin position when evaluating your approach shot.8From this elevated tee,big hitters can cut the corner of this dogleg right. The approach is slicker than it looks, as the green runs out from front-to-back.9A drive that hugs the left corner ofthe fairway opens up the best view, but you must take on out-of-bounds to do so on this dogleg-right par-5.10You can swing away with driver, but the landing areagets tight around the green.Or you can lay up to 100 yards and attack the green with a wedge. Your choice.11Staggered bunkers give you multiple options off the tee. While you're getting ready to tee off, enjoy a glimpse of the Monterey Bay.12This steep green is brutal if you are above the hole. The key to scoring here is giving yourself an uphill puttno matter what.13Long and straight here.A good drive can set you up to reach thegreen in two. Out-of-bounds lines the left edge of the hole.14The design of this crownedgreen has been challenging players since Del Monte first opened in 1897. No shortcuts here. It's just a long, hard par-3.15This short dogleg left features achallenging green with a top-left tier and a steep back-to-front slope.16The toughest hole on the back side is slightly moremanageable when you approach the back-to-frontgreen from the left side of the fairway.17A drive that hugs the right sideof the fairway can get home in two.Like the third and 12th greens, it is imperative to keep the ball below the hole here18This precise finishing hole features agreen that slopes strongly from right-to-left
