Big hitters who try to reach the green in two will have to carry the pond that guards the front.4Number 4 is the first and longest of the difficult par 3's at The Farms.It measures 211 yards and plays slightly uphill. The green is large and receptive to the long irons and fairway woods often used from the tee. Another back to front sloping green m5This mid length par 4 offers options off the tee.Many players hit a hybrid or fairway wood off the tee so as to lay up at the bottom of the hill.A small pond catches any balls hit to the left. The more aggressive player will hit driver and try to get close to the green. A good short iron shot will provide a birdie opportuni6The sixth hole is a subtle dog leg left that requires a precise tee shot to avoid the trees on both sides.The ideal tee shot will find the right center off the fairway and leave a short to mid iron into a well bunkered green.Be sure to check the pin position as this large green measures 49 yards from front to back.7This 564 yard uphill par 5 has earned its rank as the number one stroke hole.Fairway bunkers challenge your first two shots and the third shot must carry the two bunkers guarding the front of the green.Make sure to stay below the pin on this slippery green to avoid lining up your third putt.8Number 8 is the signature hole at The Farms Country Club.The elevated tee sits 200 yards from the green and a large pond in front gathers all balls hit short. It is a magnificent hole known for it's beauty, as well as its difficulty. Thr9The ninth hole commands the most difficult tee shot on the golf course.Out of bounds are on both sides and deep fairway bunkers sit on the left. With a length of 420 yards,even a big tee shot will leave a middle iron into a treacherous green.10Number 10 eases you into the back nine with a mid length dog leg rightA mid to short iron to the center of this green is a good play. Don't miss short or the bunkers on both sides come into play.11This straight away 340 yard par four is a good opportunity for birdie.If your tee shot avoids the bunkers on the right, you will have a short iron into the most benign green on the course.12Number 12 is a great example of a risk-reward par five.The conservative player will hit a straight tee shot and lay up to wedge range on the second shot. Those more daring will try to cut the corner leaving a long iron and an eagle opp13The thirteenth hole is arguably the most difficult par 3 on the golf courseThe tee shot demands pin point accuracy on this 186 yard uphill gem. The two tiered, hour glass shaped green is narrow and guarded by a deep bunker on the right. Balls missing to t14The fourteenth hole is extremely challenging, ninety degree dog leg left.A good tee shot down the center of the fairway leaves a mid iron into a shallow,well bunkered green. Distance control is at a premium on the second shot with bunkers in front and thick rough behind.15Fifteen has a number two handicap for good reason.A strong 425 yard hole swinging gently to the left will test test even the best of ball strikers. Trees on the left and bunkers on the right necessitate a long straight tee shot. A16The last par three is as difficult as the others.This hole plays 182 yards uphill to a small green. The green slopes hard from left to right so proper speed is crucial to avoid a three putt.17Number 17 is a 346 yard par 4 that climbs gently up the hill.A good tee shot to the left center of the fairway will avoid the bunker on the right and leave a short iron in.This is a very large green sloping from back to front, so be sure to check the pin placement18At 604 yards, the finishing hole is one of the longest par fives in the state of Connecticut.Both the tee shot and second shot should favor the right center of the fairway.The third shot must pass through a narrow shoot and out of bounds looms only a few steps from the right side of the green.
