1The ideal teeshot for an average hitter would be to place the ball as close to the right side of the fairway as you dare, avoiding a large tree. This provides a view up the green fStay straight and a par or better is within easy reach. However, danger lurks off this narrow Fairway with trees on both sides and well positioned bunkers on the left. Wander into The green is gently contoured and protected by a selection of bunkers on the front left and to both the left and right side.2The drive is straightforward - be on the fairway and long. Trees lining each side ensure that anything too wayward is punished.The green is protected right front by a bunker and left by a lake.3The approach is the real test. The distance is correct but take at least one more club - the wind and elevation are working against you.The drive is wrought with trouble up to about 200 metres then the fairway opens up with 250 plenty of landing area.The sloping green is protected front right and back left with bunkers. Reading putts can be entertaining.4Par isn't too much trouble, but you'll work for better.The fairway is lined with firs, although they really shouldn't come into play.The large green is protected with bunkers left and right front plus 2 pot bunkers at back of green.5The green is protected by a bunker short and right, and a steep decline at the back. Again some entertaining reads on this putting surface.The fairway turns at about 200 metres from the tee around a large tree.The ideal drive will fade through the turn and leave no more than a wedge home. For us mere mortals though, aim at the line of firs lining the far side of the fairway. Not too much6The approach is compliacted only by the fact that the ball is invariabially above your feet - aim a little right.Drive at the right side of the fairway and the natural contours will centre the ball for you.The green is protected by a bunker front right and a large bunker flanking the left side.7A challenging hole for golfers of all levels.The player is faced with a tee shot from an elevated position to a green, heavily protected by bunkers on both the left and right side.With the green sloping from back to front and a ridge being formed from each of these bunkers toward the centre, a straight putt here is a rarity.8A long line of deciduous trees and out of bounds all down the right side and a line of Pine trees down the left border the hole.With rough creeping in about 15 metres from both tree lines, hitting the fairway from the raised tee position is a must to have a chance of reaching the green in two.The green itself slopes severely from back to front and left to right and is protected by bunkers left and right9Anything to the right of the fairway and the player is limited severely by the tree on the right of the gap. A second shot through the gap is best aimed down the right side of the From the gap the fairway slopes downhill to the green. With out of bounds and 2 bunkers on the right, the best line from the tee is the oak tree on the left.The green is a raised plateau with contouring on the right side formed by the only other bunker by the green, a deep trap on the right side.10An aesthetes delight, the tenth presents a panoramic view of the Liffey Valley from the top of the south bank.Long left is sand and water, right is sand and trees, be on or short. A par here is no disgrace.The green set a couple of hundred feet below. From the tee it looks like water, sand and a little green. Put the nerves aside and hit the shot. Short is no prO-Blem.11A magnificent hole sweeping along the banks of the Liffey, meandering from tee to green in a right to left dog leg. Any score is possible here.The Liffey is in play on all three shots. Perspective for second shot from the centre of fairway is discouraging - all that can be seen is sand.Green elevated on left and well protected short and pin high by series of large bunkers.12Blind tee shot from Liffey bank up to fairway plateau.Long second to green protected short right and left by large bunkers. Be long rather than short with second shot.A large tree left at about 200 is the line of the green. Be as close right to this tree for best approach.13The layout of the green has a mound on each side which can influence chips and putts that encounter them.The fairway is bordered on the left by a densely wooded slope and on the right by a row of trees.The green rises gently from the fairway with bunkers on left and right.14The wooded slope along the left side of the 13th hole comes as far as this incline on the left side. There is out of bounds all of the way along the right side of this hole.The drive, therefore, must clear the sharp incline first in order to reach the plateau where the fairway is. The fairway is bordered by rough on both sides so the drive needs to beThe second shot needs to carry to the green because the slope up to it will kill any shot that lands short. The green rises from the front and becomes saucer shape after that.15A line of tall poplar trees are on the left and several smaller trees on both sides in the rough. The fairway is narrow at first but opens out where the drive should land. The secoThe green has deep bunkers to catch the wayward shot going left or right. It is a tiered green, the left half is lower than the right and the whole green inclines upwards from the 16A straight, demanding hole setting off up hill, battling against contour, even the longest of drives will leave a blind 2nd shot to the green. The last 50 metres of the fairway, frTherefore the approach should be played along the line of the left edge of the fairwayThe green slopes from the back to the front and slightly from left to right.17As the fairway slopes uncomfortably across the line of the drive, the tee shot should be played down the left side using the poplar trees as a line to avoid the grass meadow and smThe green, lying 50 feet below the highest point of the fairway and just across the road, slopes from back to front and is guarded by two bunkers on the left and one on the right.18A pair of bunkers are located on the left side of the fairway to catch any wayward drives. With a large copse of trees down the right side, the safe tee shot is down the left side However the more aggressive play down the right side is rewarded with a better approach to the green.
