1Without a doubt, one of the toughest #1 tees to tee off in the world! Not only is the tee in close proximity to the pro shop, scoreboard/dining area, as well as the practice green the closeness of everything but as one tees the ball up and looks down the fairway, the middle of the fairway is O-Bscured by a giant tree! Added on top of that is the pressure of Anyhow, once we’ve teed off and hopefully hit the tee shot either over or around the tree the hole doesn’t get much easier. A small pond protects the last 100 yards to the gree2If the tee shot on #1 is really difficult it doesn’t get much easier on #2 especially for the “hookers”! The out of bounds fence which lines the left side of the fairway is aA small green makes the second shot difficult even though the length is short. Any approach shot missing the green will prO-Bably roll all the way down to the fence. The green also3This new green opened for play in May of 2011. It is one of the prettiest par 3’s in Central Kentucky! The green is completely in view and invites you to hit the ball right at thThree bunkers frame the green and the prevailing wind crosses from the golfers right so whether the wind “helps or hurts” your tee shot distance is difficult to determine.Also, beware that the green putts a little faster going “uphill” than it looks.4A bunker renovation three years ago added bunkers guarding both the front right and front left of the green to defend itself against long hitters trying to drive the green.Everything seems to bounce or lean from right to left on this hole so favor right center off the tee and keep your approach shot landing to the right of the hole and the ball shoul5This is an awkward ‘blind” tee shot. Tee shots landing 150 yards or so closer to the green will kick left into the rough.However, the out of bounds fence on the right prevents anyone from hugging the right side too closely.The approach shot is to a small two tiered green which is very difficult to putt and even more difficult to chip to particularly from the right side. The back tier of the green is 6This hole was redesigned completely. Over 1,500 square feet of green was added to the back of the green complex which now stretches the hole out to 167 yards to the middle of the gThe green speed is quicker than it looks. Also, beware of the new grass bunker located short right of the green.When the pin location is right front, the bunker is in play and is absolutely NO FUN! (Or maybe it's a little bit of fun).7A semi-blind tee shot with everything sloping from left to right.The recent bunker renovation positioned new bunkers left and right to guard the green from long drivers and the approach is made more difficult due to the golf ball being well “bThe green is slightly elevated and beware of any pin positions on the front right! Many golfers have putted balls right off the green from this position.8This scenic par 5 just invites you to step up and “rip it” off the tee.However, any drive drifting right can bounce further right into some trouble.The approach shot(s) into the green always plays longer than the yardage particularly from the right side of the fairway. Just like hole #7 beware of the front right pin position!9Another scenic tee shot which like hole #8 makes you just want to “grip & rip” your tee shot.Any tee shot missed left, however, can be in trouble with trees and any tee shot blocked to the right will mean the second shot will have to carry the bunker which guards the frontAlso, for the third straight hole, beware of the front right pin!10While making the turn if you ate a “Power Dog” in the pro shop you will prO-Bably hit your next shot 1-2 clubs farther so adjust your club selection.Otherwise, the prevailing wind will add some uncertainty to the tee shot as well.Try to start the ball to the right center of the green if possible.11This is an awkward tee shot. The O-B fence on the left cuts in a little the farther up you go so long hitters need to be careful not to pull their tee shot.Also, a little swale short of the green makes distance deceiving on the second shot and adds difficulty to club selection.Any approach shot missing the green long or to either side is a very difficult up and down. A par is always a great score here.12Trees border both sides of this tee shot making a straight tee shot imperative for a chance to reach the green in two.The last 200 yards is all uphill and plays longer than the yardage. This is a long two level green which slopes quickly from right to left particularly the top tier.Beware of any pin placement on the top left or middle left of the green!13During a dry summer golfers are afraid of driving the ball into the creek short of the green. Those same golfers during a wet spring into the prevailing wind may have to hit a longNo hole can play so different depending upon the weather conditions. A good drive favoring the left side of the fairway makes the approach play much easier but distance control on There is no bail out. Any approach short ends up in the creek and any ball landing over the green rolls to or through the O-B fence over the green.14A blind tee shot with a right to left hole shape while the ground slopes left to right to make the shot difficult.Any approach shot missing the green left or long is impossible to get up and down and bunkers guard the front left and right. This two-tier green is extremely difficult to putt.Beware of any pin position on the second tier and doubly beware any pin position on the right side of the second tier! Actually, beware of ANY pin position on this green!!!15A short hole with multiple tee positions and multiple options off the tee.On-course O-B has been eliminated on the left side so long hitters can try to drive the green but trees guard both sides of the fairway and the small green is hard to hit from the This can be a birdie hole but trouble lurks everywhere on this hole.16This is an intimidating tee shot with out of bounds left and trees to the right. Even with a good tee shot a blind and uphill approach shot is difficult to judge distance on.Any ball hit to the left and past the pin is almost impossible to get down in two. The approach shot needs to stay to the right of the pin.Putting on this green will cause most adults to begin looking for an adult beverage soon! A par is a good score here.17The longest par 3 on the course is made more difficult with a bunker guarding the right side of the green.Most tee shots seem to come up short and to the right on the hole! There appears to be some magnetic force making tee shots go right!Everyone including the pros during the Governor’s Open love to make par on this hole!18This hole sets up to favor the left side of the fairway because the contour of the fairway slopes left to right.Any tee shot missed to the right results in a difficult approach short with the ball below your feet and not being able to see the surface of the green.The green is deceptively difficult to putt as there is a tendency toover-read € the break on this green. This hole should give up some birdies but never seems to give up very m
