1The opening hole at the North Inch is a seemingly innocuous par 4 but with out of bounds lurking down the left side and several large trees to avoid on the right you can’t take yAdd in some first tee nerves and any shot landing on the fairway should be seen as a success!2From the 2nd tee take a moment to admire the view of Kinnoull Hill beforetrying to keep your tee shot down the left side avoiding the large tree to the right of the fairway. This gives you the best angle in for your second shot to the two tiered green.3At 446 yards from the yellow tees, for all but the longer hitters the 3rd will likely be a 3 shot hole –especially playing into the prevailing left to right wind. A slight dogleg right to left makes what looks like a forgiving fairway actually quite tight. Even for longer hitters,4Named after the former greenkeeper at the North Inch, the5If played from the yellow tees then this is a fairly short par 4 with a generous fairway to aim for.Two fairway bunkers around 50 yards short of the green are the main O-Bstacles to avoid so6From the tee you hit over a valley towards a plateau green surrounded by steep bankings and trees.7The only blind tee shot on the North Inch, the adventurous players out there might reach for the driver, takea line to the right of the tall fir trees and crash a drive down to the narrow part of the fairway for a shorter approach shot in. The percentage shot here though is to go with a s8Not really a driver hole this one, play for position up to the corner of the dogleg left and you’ll leave yourself a short iron to the green.There’s trouble up the left in the shape of trees and an out of bounds line further up so favour the right side from the tee as the fairway opens up slightly.9One of the iconic par 3’s at the North Inch, don’t let its short length lull you into thinking this is an easy one - many a promising front 9 has been ruined by the “Wee Dunt10Generally played into the wind, the 10th hole can prove to be a fiddly green to hit.Two deep bunkers left and right catch any shot which comes up short of the raised green so be sure to allow for the wind and take enough club to clear the sand. There is a gap in b11A challenging dog-leg par four this one. From either set of tees the aim is the same –get as close to the corner of the dogleg as you can while keeping it on the fairway. Even the best tee shot will still leave an approach of around 150-170 yards so you’ll want to12The tee shot over the burn has to be straight to find the tree-lined fairway.13The first of the par 5’s at the North Inch can be a real risk and reward hole.At 495 yards from the tips it’s not the longest par 5 but with out of bounds along the entire left side of the hole, a large fairway bunker on the right, overhanging trees and a 14The longest par 3 on the North Inch, Sand Hole is a tough test in any conditions.15The main challenge on the 15th hole will become O-Bvious as soon as you step onto the tee – the entire hole runs along the banks of the River Tay; surely one of the largest in-la16One of the most picturesque par 3’s you will find, the 16th is one of the signature holes of the North Inch course.17No 17 is another short par 4 which can be played any number of ways.The main features of the hole are the burn which crosses in front of the tee and runs up the left side of the hole, two fairway bunkers left and right and a copse of trees which cu18The finishing hole on the North Inch is a long meandering dog-leg par 5.From the tee up on the bank you look down at a fairly wide fairway which gives you confidence standing over the ball.
