1A beautiful introduction to the course, the first is a dogleg right par fourwith a generous fairway and an undulating green. A tee shot down the left side of the fairway opens up the green but brings the fairway bunker into play.2Another dogleg right, the second hole is a short par four where position is paramount off the tee.Finding the left side of the fairway is crucial, as shots played from the right half of the fairway may not have a clear look at the green.3The first par three at Tacoma Golf & Country Club is a challenge. Measuring more than 200 yards from the back tees, a strong and accurate shot is needed to find the putting surface4The fourth is a dogleg left par four which demands two quality shots to set up a birdie putt.Aiming at the fairway bunker down the right is a good target for most players, except those with the power to reach that trap.5Scoring opportunities can be found at the fifth, as this dogleg left par four is one of the shortest on the course. However, there are still multiple bunkers to be avoided, and it�6From the back tees, the sixth plays more than 200 yards to a small green, making the hole a significant test.While less intimidating from shorter tees, the green is still difficult to find and getting up and down is always tricky.7A relatively generous fairway awaits at the seventh, which is a straightaway par four. Once in the fairway, this hole can present a birdie chance with a quality approach shot.8The eighth is the most difficult hole at Tacoma Golf & Country Club –and one of the most difficult holes in the region. A dogleg right par four of over 475 yards from the back tees, every par is well-earned here. Tee shots need to favor the left to 9The first par five at Tacoma Golf & Country Club doesn’t appear until the ninth, but it is worth the wait. More than 570 yards from the back tee, this hole traces a straight pathMultiple bunkers come into play around the green, so an accurate layup is needed to provide a good look at the approach shot.10Starting off the back nine, players are greeted with a birdie opportunity.This short par four features a wide fairway and one of the easier greens on the course. Playing down the right side off the tee typically sets up the best look at the hole.11Despite the modest length of this par five, making a birdie on #11 is no easy task.Play the tee shot down the left side to open up the hole but be careful to avoid the fairway bunker. Longer hitters may be able to reach this green in two, but accuracy is at a pre12The twelfth looks innocent from the tee, as a wide fairway awaits after an uphill shot.However, the tree in the fairway short of the green will complicate the second shot.Players should either stay back from the tree with their tee shot or play down the right to maintain a clear view of the green.13On #13, accuracy off the tee is again at a premium.The fairway is generous, but a large tree in the right half of the fairway means players will want to stay down the left side.Dramatic slopes are featured in this green, making a precise approach shot vital for any chance of a birdie.14One of the strategic highlights of the course is the short par four fourteenth.Long hitters can attempt to drive the green, even from the back tee, but only pinpoint accuracy will do when taking the aggressive option. Otherwise, it’s a layup to the top of t15The only shot on the course played over water is found at #15.This picturesque par three is not long, but it demands your attention thanks to the pond in front of the green. Specifically, a left-side hole location will require players to be b16Two of the final three holes on the course are par fives, starting with the short sixteenth.Many golfers will have the option of going for this green in two, provided they split the fairway bunkers off the tee.Even those who reach the putting surface in two will have work left, as this sloping green can be difficult to read.17Surrounded by par fives, #17 is a par three that uses distance as its main defense. Over 220 yards from the back tee, this hole does allow players to run the ball up from the front18Heading back toward the clubhouse, the eighteenth is a fun par five presenting a range of possibilities.Reaching in two is possible for big hitters, but the approach is protected by multiple bunkers on both sides coming into the green.
