1A gentle opener to introduce you to the course, a driver and wedge hole for the good player.A drive right of centre close to the fairway bunkers will give you the best angle into the green.The green slopes away in the back right half making approaches from the left side of the fairway2One of Australia’s great par 4 holes. A drive down the right side is needed to allow the best angle to approach this long 4,anything left off the tee will leave a challenging second shot. The strategically placed bunkers 75 meters from the green will leave club golfers with a decision of whether to lay 3A long accurate tee shot is required on this 203m par 3 hole.A well struck shot landing short will bounce up onto the green however getting close from the green side bunkers will prove challenging.4A well struck tee shot past the fairway bunker will leave a wedge to a deceptive sloping green.The front 2/3rds of the green slope to the left while the back 1/3rd slopes away from you, be too bold and you will bounce off the back of the green.5Short Par 4’s are a wonderful test of your short irons and the 5th is no exception.A well placed tee shot should leave you around 100 metres to the green,you will then need to leave your approach in the same section of the green as the pin. If you find yourself with a lengthy putt you will struggle to 2 putt on this wonderfully cont6A short hole featuring a long green. Club selection and accuracy are vital. Avoiding the deep bunkers is a must. Take care on the green as it has more slope than appears.7The cluster of fairway bunkers on the right side should be your line off the 7th tee, the closer you can get to these the better your line to the green.From this line your approach shot can find any part of the green which slopes away from the golfer.Approaches from the left half of the fairway are exceptionally challenging and finding the green is a real test.8The longest par 5 at Yarra Yarra the 8th has room to open your shoulders, however you should be prepared to be in the correct half of the fairway for your approach to this heavily If the pin is on the left you will need to approach from the right hand side of the fairway, if it is on the right hand side you need to approach on the same level as the pin.9One of the stand out holes at Yarra Yarra, a mid length par 5 that provides a birdie opportunity.A drive on the left towards the fairway bunkers will provide the best angle for approaching the green with a long second shot or for laying up to the right side of the fairway.Your approach should be played to the centre of the green to avoid the false front that will reject any less than well struck shot.10The 10th is a wonderful example of a challenging short par 4, go for the green or lay up for position from the tee, the choice must be made.If you lay up it must be left of centre and your approach will need to be bold and carried into the middle of the green.11One of the great par 3’s in golf, a strong hole with a stunning green that is well protected by bunkers. The ideal shot is a high fade with a long iron that will often be playing12A mid length Par 4 that requires a tee shot that is as close to the fairway bunkers as you can, this will the leave an approach straight up the green between the large bunkers protThe further left off the tee you go the harder the approach to the elevated green.13The 13th is the strongest par on the course and the best line off the tee is as close to the right-hand fairway bunkers as possible, especially so if the flag is towards the rear oA green that slopes heavily from front to back you should aim to finish on the same level as they flag.14The hole that has changed most in recent renovations, an echelon of bunkers at driving length ensures your focus is on your tee shot.The best line at the green is from as close to the bunkers as possible. If you do go right off the tee then the prudent approach is to the front left corner of the green.15The final par 3 on the course provides a stern challenge, a narrow green flanked by some of the more challenging bunkers on the course.The green has a stunning tier through the centre and if you land on the top level, when the flag is on the lower level, you will be faced with a tough putt.16A sweeping par 5 with a slightly uphill tee shot, the stronger player may choose to take on the fairway bunker for the best approach line to the green.An approach played between the bunkers protecting the green will run up onto the putting surface which has a deceptive amount of slope in it.17Trees tightly line the left and right sides of this fairway. Aim the drive down the middle of the fairway to set up a mid to short iron approach.The approach shot is played slightly downhill to a large green. Avoid going long over the green.18A finishing hole with a birdie opportunity. The driving area is tightened by deep bunkers on both sides.The second shot should be positioned short, left centre of the green. The longer hitters can reach this green in two shots.The third shot is a pitch to a green which has a severe slope from back to front and is protected by bunkers located left and right.
