From The Tee A short par 5 to start -

From The Fairway for the longer hitters the right-hand fairway bunkers can come into play, so 3 wood can be a good option just to get your round started.

On The Green Driver for higher handicappers is sensible to play, and anywhere on the left side of the fairway is ideal because trees on the right around the 135-meter marker can come into play. Greenside bunkers left and right.

Hole Name Flame Stoppers

From The Tee This short par 4 drops down from the tee and rises again all the way to the green.

From The Fairway

On The Green A solid tee shot is all that is needed is to get the ball in the fairway at the top or well up the hill. From this layup area it is only a short iron or wedge into the sloping green. With any raised green make sure to add extra distance to you yardage to compensate.

Hole Name BetterCo.

From The Tee This Par 3 is an Elevated Tee dropping down to a green well protected on the left.

From The Fairway

On The Green With a green breaking severely left to right from the front of the green, anything above the hole is a dicey situation. Bail out to the right is a common sight on this hole With any raised green make sure to add extra distance to you yardage to compensate.

From The Tee A narrow tee shot on this dog leg hole means it is important to pick a specific aiming point in the distance.

From The Fairway

On The Green Look for the stand of tall pine trees that appear to be straight ahead off the tee. Longer hitters can hit 3 wood or iron, to the landing point down the bottom of the hill near the 135 metre marker, leaving a short iron or wedge into the very elevated green. It is important to add a club to the shot into the green. The greenside front pot bunker is worth avoiding!

Hole Name Mat Wood at Crediflex

From The Tee This tee is well elevated and the green is surrounded by three bunkers and is close to the water -

From The Fairway

On The Green if the pin is back right it is best to play to the centre of the green as the landing zone is quite small. Make sure to check nearby trees for wind as it can be quite deceiving from the tee.

Hole Name CTL Construction Ltd

From The Tee Depending on your distance the tee shot can be either straight down the middle, or cut the corner a fraction to avoid the bounce towards the right trees.

From The Fairway

On The Green

Hole 7

Hole Name Placemakers Auckland Central North

From The Tee Even with elevated tees, this hole is one of the longer ones on the course, especially off the blue tees.

From The Fairway The play on this hole is no less than a driver staying to the left side of the large fairway bunker which is too long to carry.

On The Green Leave a good angle to the green as the water hazard hugs the left side of the green, and greenside bunkers are front left and right rear.

Hole 8

Hole Name Vault Group

From The Tee One of Akarana's feature holes and a personal favourite of many members.

From The Fairway

On The Green This hole can often have a strong head wind so making sure you have plenty of club is key. If the ball lands on the left side of the green it should naturally roll to the centre. Par is always a good score on this hole. Greenside bunkers on left.

Hole 9

Hole Name John Deere

From The Tee One of the holes on the course that requires significant shot shape,

From The Fairway the left to right hole has more room to the right side of the fairway than it seems from the tee.

On The Green It has a reasonably flat green so it's all about putting the ball in play for your shot to the green. Greenside bunkers left and right.

Hole 10

Hole Name Hobson Wealth

From The Tee A right to left sloping fairway means this hole favors left to right ball flight all the way to the green.

From The Fairway Once the ball hits the fairway it will always roll to the left side - more so in summer.

On The Green For your shot into the green use the right side of the green to your advantage as the ball will roll to the middle.

Hole 11

Hole Name NuGreen Energy Solutions

From The Tee This hole plays similar to the eighth hole but this time with a little more room to the left of the green -

From The Fairway

On The Green provided the pin is not left. Check the wind as this can play a big factor on this hole. Once on the green all that's left is a two putt for your par. The green slopes front left to right a reasonable amount, so take that into consideration. One rear greenside bunker.

Hole 12

Hole Name Neville Newcomb Insurance

From The Tee A straight forward par five with no bunkers throughout the hole. Long and flat until just short of the elevated green.

From The Fairway The fairway is wide so it just requires a bit of focus off the tee. Once in the fairway all you want to do is lay up for a shot at the green.

On The Green There is not a lot of advantage for the longer hitter to get to the green as it brings in more risk with the out of bounds close to the left hand side of the green.

Hole 13

From The Tee This is the number one stroke hole on the course.

From The Fairway

On The Green In summer for the medium-to-long-length hitters it may be a wise idea to hit a 3 wood or hybrid to get to the bottom of the hill as driver can often run to the water's edge. For the shot into the elevated green you are only looking for the centre of the green as it has three levels, and is a lot easier to two putt from the centre. Water down the right for your second shot, and two greenside bunker

Hole 14

Hole Name NZ Strong Ltd

From The Tee Fairly straight forward hole, all that is required off the tee is to get it around the 135 metre marker that can be seen from the tee.

From The Fairway

On The Green This way it gives you a flat lie to play to the elevated green - take that into account when choosing a club for the shot into the green. No bunkers again throughout this hole and a relatively flat green.

Hole 15

Hole Name Summerset at Heritage Park

From The Tee The 15th has quite an elevated tee so the ball will get

From The Fairway a bit more carry on this hole with a generous landing zone on the fairway which should give you a good start.

On The Green The green much like the 13th is elevated but with only two tiers. Left side of the green gives you access to the top and bottom pin locations. Two greenside bunkers - front, and front right.

Hole 16

Hole Name ABC Photosigns

From The Tee Club selection is important on this hole - although the tee is elevated it still plays a reasonable length.

From The Fairway

On The Green Playing to the left side of the green is always your percentage shot as the right side of the green is a hard target to hit and also a tricky spot to hold the ball on the green. There are slopes dropping away from the green plus two greenside bunkers. Also keep in mind the ridge through the centre of the green.

Hole 17

Hole Name Alsco Fresh & Clean

From The Tee A newly introduced out of bounds and extended rough along the left hand tree

From The Fairway line means golfers prefer the right side of the fairway on this hole. Lower handicap players with good distance off the tee can play a 3 wood to get the ball in play. In summer a shot to the left centre of the fairway can often result in a run down to the left side.

On The Green On the green, the front half of slopes away from you, and the back half slopes the opposite way back toward you. bunkers - one fairway right, three greenside.

From The Tee

From The Fairway With out of bounds and rough down the left side, this hole is all about position on the fairway,

On The Green anywhere just past the 135m marker gives you a shot to the flag. With the green surrounded by bunkers it is key to be clear about the shot you want to play into the green. A fantastic hole which reflects the overall course and its design, playing right to the clubhouse and hospitality deck.
