Hole 1
Hole Name Witch’s Well
From The Tee A very neat and tight par three – especially from the back tees! Play short and you are in danger of wandering down to the left –
From The Fairway
On The Green or even worse – into the ditch. A well-guarded green and be careful of the newly extended bunker along the left hand side of the hole.
Hole 2
Hole Name Stey Brae
From The Tee A straight drive over the marker post and you’ll land on the
From The Fairway fairway. Stray left and woods await; stray right and the hole lengthens considerably and chances are you’ll be playing your next shot from behind a tree.
On The Green
Hole 3
Hole Name The Quarry
From The Tee Tucked back into the trees, the tiered tee looks back towards Stirling and beyond. Another magnificent view.
From The Fairway
On The Green
Hole 4
Hole Name The Rhodos
From The Tee The first of the 4 par threes on the course and it should be the easiest of them all.
From The Fairway
On The Green A straight well hit shot and you should be sitting nicely on the green. Standing on the tee, however, the rhododendrons surrounding the hole suddenly create a claustrophO-Bic feeling and for some reason, act like a magnet drawing the ball into who knows where!
Hole 5
Hole Name White Yetts
From The Tee A long hole, usually requiring at least 3 shots (sometimes a lot more) to reach the green.
From The Fairway The biggest prO-Blem is the out-of-bounds running down the entire left hand side of the hole. Combine this with the trees running down the right hand side and the fairway seems to narrow.
On The Green
Hole 6
Hole Name Drumbeg
From The Tee Drive over the marker post into the gully and you are faced with a blind shot onto
From The Fairway
On The Green the green. Go up and check your next shot. A generous green, but bunkers left and right and if you overshoot, a nasty chip back up onto the green awaits you..
Hole 7
Hole Name Burnee
From The Tee A very neat and tight par three – especially from the back tees! Play short and you are in danger of wandering down to the left – or even worse –
From The Fairway
On The Green into the ditch. A well-guarded green and be careful of the newly extended bunker along the left hand side of the hole.
Hole 8
Hole Name Craigbank
From The Tee The main danger off the tee is the magnet-like pulling power that the trees on the right have.
From The Fairway If you’re short the ditch will get you; left and more trees await. If you have managed to negotiate your way into the middle of the fairway, half way up the hill, then a good iron shot is required to take you into the heart of the green.

Hole 9
Hole Name Baillie’s Dub
From The Tee A beautiful view from the tee makes this a very inviting drive. The splendour of the Ochils is spread out before you (and Elvis is clearly visible on the side of hill).

On The Green
Hole 10
Hole Name Brandy Hill
From The Tee Another name for this one is ‘the road hole’, due to the fact that as you stand on the tee about to take your swing, there is every chance that a car, lorry or bus will appear on the road to your left from Coalsnaughton and evil thoughts start wandering into your mind. Ignore them, it will never happen.
From The Fairway The fairway slopes quite steeply from right to left and the shortest route to the green is over the big trees to the left of the fairway – are you brave enough to try it?

Hole 11
Hole Name Deil’s Gate
From The Tee An uphill drive to the plateau over the ridge will leave a fairly straightforward iron shot onto the generous green.
From The Fairway
On The Green Nothing could be simpler. Unless, of course, you discount the out-of-bounds and the slightly intruding tree and ditch to your left, and the rough and trees to your right. It almost goes without saying, of course, that there are numerous greenside bunkers, with the new addition running along the back of the green.
Hole 12
Hole Name Mount William
From The Tee A hole with a stroke index rating of 2 gives an indication that there are some potential difficulties awaiting.
From The Fairway
On The Green
Hole 13
Hole Name The Spinney
From The Tee This should be one of the easiest par 4’s on the course.
From The Fairway
On The Green An easy drive out of the Augusta-style tee leaves a short chip onto an inviting green. An easy par, if not a birdie!
Hole 14
Hole Name Braid’sPark
From The Tee Another elevated tee making for beautiful views and an inviting drive. Keep the ball straight and you will have no worries with your second shot.
From The Fairway Distance can be a prO-Blem for the higher handicap, requiring a nice pitch and putt to save the par. The 2nd fairway is always a popular (if not intended) route. A loud shout of ‘fore right’ would be appreciated by those just starting their round – a bit early to get walloped by a ball!
On The Green
Hole 15
Hole Name Seven Sisters
From The Tee A tough par three starts a very difficult run-in to your round. If you haven’t already picked up strokes to cut your handicap, I suspect it’s a little too late!
From The Fairway
On The Green This tough par 3 requires a long accurate tee shot to hit this raised green. Be short and you’re either in the bunkers that protect the approach to the green, or you still have to negotiate your way over them. Be too long and a difficult chip shot awaits to make the heart of the green. Now that only leaves the putt…….
Hole 16
Hole Name THE Orchard
From The Tee Your tee shot here has to be long enough to allow you to carry the ridge for the second shot.
From The Fairway
On The Green If anything, be a little left off the tee as there is a very definite slope to the right carrying everything into the semi-rough which leaves a dangerous shot over the trees to get to the green.
Hole 17
Hole Name Pond’s Wood
From The Tee A very inviting drive towards the Wallace Monument and you’ve left yourself a long, but straightforward shot to the green tucked away in the left hand corner.
From The Fairway
On The Green To the unsuspecting, this appears to hold no fears, but beware, running along the entire front of the green a ditch awaits.
Hole 18
Hole Name Beechwood
From The Tee Club House in sight, only one hole left and it’s only a par 3. What could be easier? Well, you’ve guessed it, there are a couple of prO-Blems.
From The Fairway First of all, make sure you take enough club to carry you up to the plateau – short and you have a real prO-Blem with rough, bushes and a blind approach!
