Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole has been described as the most challenging starting hole of any on Vancouver Island.
From The Fairway
On The Green Place your tee shot at the 150 yard marker, and it's all downhill to the hole. The green faces you, so holding shots is not a
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee It's just one of seven holes where you can safely hit a driver.
From The Fairway
On The Green Try to avoid the right side as you can have a restricted view of the green from that side. Watch out, because it's tough to stop a ball on the front placements.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole is in many respects like #2.
From The Fairway Keep your tee shot right of center as this allows for the easiest of approaches.
On The Green The front of the green slopes to the left. Beware of this when the pin placement is in the front right.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee Take an extra club here as almost everyone finds the bunkers
From The Fairway
On The Green that guard the front of the green. There is virtually no trouble beyond these hazards. A tee-shot on the green makes for a pretty easy 3.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee This is a very difficult hole, too long to lay up.
From The Fairway A well-placed tee shot leaves a second shot from 175 to 190 yards.
On The Green The entire green slopes from right to left, so aim to the high side and use plenty of club for your second shot.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee A small outcropping of trees on the right side is the largest O-Bstacle.
From The Fairway
On The Green Avoid this area. Your second shot should carry to the middle of the green as a slope at the front will deflect balls to the back or even off the back of the green.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee Trouble right. Trouble left. Just keep each of your three full shots in the middle of
From The Fairway the fairway and you'll have little difficulty with this hole.
On The Green From 140 yards to the green it's downhill. Watch out, the wind will affect your approach shot.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee Short but sweet is the best way to describe this hole.
From The Fairway Use a fairway wood or long iron for your tee shot. Take dead aim for your approach.
On The Green It's uphill, but the ball will stop very suddenly as the contour allows for this. Easy 4, if your ball is in play off the tee.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee Although not long, this hole can jump up and bite you.
From The Fairway Keep your tee shot left of the hole. Avoid the right-hand side as the deep bunker and transition area is hard to play from. Take extra caution with a back right pin placement - Death Valley lurks.
On The Green
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee The second par 5 to play. Stay away from the right as out-of-bounds is near.
From The Fairway On your second shot, an unseen pond on the right comes into play. Stay left and try to leave yourself 100 to 130 yards to the green.
On The Green This green is deeper than it looks. Watch out for the back pin placements.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole is a favourite.
From The Fairway With out-of-bounds both right and left, stay right of center with your tee-shot.
On The Green The second shot is uphill and almost always into the wind. Use at least two more clubs for your approach as the green is over 1,200 square feet in size.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee Gotta love a downhill par 5 (or a par 4 if playing from the Blue tees)!
From The Fairway Nothing to worry about with your tee shot. Two large ponds guard the green for those going for it.
On The Green Stay right with your second shot, and you'll have a short pitch for your third shot. Easy 5 if you play smart.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee Water, water everywhere here.
From The Fairway Use one or more clubs as it is all uphill to the green.
On The Green Use two if the wind is coming at you. All the trouble is in the front of the green, even though it's large and holds shots easily.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee Use a driver here and try to get your tee shot past the weeping willows.
From The Fairway They are further than they look and very difficult to go over or through if you're behind them.
On The Green A small bunker front right is the only concern for your approach. Aim slightly left of the flag as the green slopes to the right.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee Rear-back and hit your tee shot as hard as you want here.
From The Fairway The tougher shot is your approach. It's all downhill and the wind, even though you might not feel it,
On The Green will help you. A large lake will eat golf balls that aren't carried right to the hole. Good luck the rest of the way!
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee Now for the toughest three finishing holes on Vancouver Island.
From The Fairway Like the 15th, hit your tee shot as hard as you can, it's all uphill.
On The Green The green is large and it's much further to the hole than it looks. The water on the right doesn't really come into play for most.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee This peninsula green is actually very large.
From The Fairway The water that surrounds the three sides is imposing.
On The Green Out-of-bounds to the right should be avoided at all costs. Shorter hitters should consider laying up. The ever-present crosswinds, for some reason, don't affect shots here.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway This finishing hole is very challenging. Your tee shot has to be long and left of center if you want to have a chance at the green.
On The Green Your approach shot should be long and right of the hole, except when the hole is front right. This affords the only chance at a 2 putt. Good luck here, you'll need it!
