Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee A great par 5 opening hole, offering players an opportunity to get the nerves worked out with a very generous landing
From The Fairway
On The Green area on the tee shot, a mid-iron layup into another generous landing area, leaving a short iron or wedge into a receptive green. Just be sure to carry the deep fronting bunker staring you in the face.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee Club selection is critical as the two-tiered green provides a steep challenge if you’re on the wrong level.
From The Fairway The giant Maple on the left is the only tree in play on the golf course. Calculate your yardage carefully and swing away.
On The Green
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee The tee on #3 is the highest point on the Arcadia Bluffs property, 225 feet above the bluff, offering complete panoramic views of the entire property and Lake Michigan.
From The Fairway
On The Green A three shot par 5, everything you need to know is right in front of you. The smartest angle into the green is from the right side offering a great angle. Take a few pictures once on the green, the view is magnificent.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee A short downhill par 4, hole #4 is a tight driving hole with cross bunkers in play on the right side.
From The Fairway
On The Green Keep your drive to the left for the best view into this low-lying green, but be careful of the deep sod-walled bunker that guards the right side.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #5 offers stunning panoramic views of Lake Michigan, as the hole falls toward the bluff and the lake.
From The Fairway
On The Green A straightforward three-shot par 5, the trouble lies in the bunkers that protect the layup area on both the right and left. It’s best to trust your GPS yardage on the layup, and be true on your approach to the green as this is a large green, measuring 56 paces from front to back.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee This uphill par 3 turns back to the east and offers players another challenge to select the right club
From The Fairway
On The Green The smart play is to add 8-10 yards to your yardage for the uphill, and the multi-tiered green will test all your skill to get up and down. Once on the green, look west and enjoy the vistas of Lake Michigan while you wait your turn, this green offers some of the best views on the property.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee The wide-open fairway of hole #7 offers the opportunity to swing away and unleash your powerful drive.
From The Fairway Usually playing downwind, #7 is one of the longer par 4s at Arcadia. The second shot is slightly uphill, so factor this into your club selection, and pay attention to the hole location as this green is 44 paces deep with a false-front.
On The Green Short shots will be repelled back into the fairway leaving a challenging uphill pitch to an elevated green.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #8 is one of the most visually pleasing holes on the course, with both native and sod-walled bunkers in play.
From The Fairway Playing uphill all the way, a drive on the center or left-center of the wide fairway is your best play.
On The Green Although the putting surface is not visible on the approach, the flagstick is and your GPS will give you the exact yardage to the hole. Add a few yards for the uphill and swing away.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee Although it appears to play downhill, this par 3 is actually slightly uphill so club accordingly.
From The Fairway
On The Green The green has false front, so short shots will be repelled into the collection area leaving an eye-level pitch. The tee offers another great photo opportunity with Lake Michigan as the backdrop, as does a shot from the green.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee This difficult downhill par 4 requires your attention from start to finish. Aim your tee shot at and over the aiming post on the right side, as it will leave you a clear view of the green on your approach.
From The Fairway Tip—If you can see your tee shot in the fairway, you won’t be able to see the green on your approach.
On The Green The approach is also downhill, but usually against the prevailing wind so club accordingly. The deep greenside bunker is unforgiving, so a shot played in from the right is the smart play.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee The stunning downhill par 5 eleventh is prO-Bably the most photographed hole at Arcadia, and arguably one of the most photographed holes in all of golf.
From The Fairway The hole plays down the slope all the way to the green, with a premium on keeping it in the fairway.
On The Green The long fescue rough sneaks in on both sides the entire length of the hole, and the hole narrows as you get closer to the green. Be precise in your layup and you’ll be rewarded with a great birdie opportunity. Take a peak over the bluff directly behind the green, the view is magnificent.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee A tee shot favoring the left side will offer the best approach.
From The Fairway
On The Green This approach offers a bump and run opportunity to the green.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee Although this par 3 can be visually intimidating, remind yourself the carry across the abyss is only 120-140 yards depending on the tee box you’re hitting from, even though the optics tell you otherwise
From The Fairway
On The Green Land your tee shot on the front part of the green and it will advance forward toward the middle every time. This green is subtle, so play a little less break than you think you see.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee The par 4 fourteenth requires the most accurately played tee shot you’ll hit all day—missing the fairway spells trouble.
From The Fairway A fairway wood or long iron is all you need to place your tee shot safely in the fairway. Add 10 yards to your uphill approach,
On The Green and bring it in high and soft if you’re able. Short approaches will be rejected by the false front and the greenside bunker is unforgiving. This is simply a great short par 4.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee The last par 5 of the round, this slightly uphill straightaway hole takes you back toward the clubhouse.
From The Fairway There are bunkers to avoid, but they are directly in front of you and easily maneuvered with an accurate tee shot. The sod-walled bunker approximately 120 yards short of the green, in the middle of the fairway, should be avoided at all costs.
On The Green If you find yourself in it, play sideways and take your medicine. A sharp false-front repels short approaches, so be aggressive. This is a tricky green that requires a soft touch and thought—be careful when putting back toward the west.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee You can’t see the green from the tee, so aim your tee shot at the tall trees in the distance that surround the 13th green.
From The Fairway The fairway is very wide, so a tee shot in that general direction will give you a clear view of the green for your approach.
On The Green Now the fun begins. Land your approach shot 10 yards short of the green, preferably coming in from the left to right, and you’ll be rewarded. This green slopes away from you to the west and an aggressive shot will roll through the green every time. If putting back uphill toward the hole, give it a little more gas than you think.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee The 17th is the most picturesque par 3 on the course, a beautiful setting on a well designed hole
From The Fairway
On The Green Shots missed to the right will bounce all the way to the bottom of the hill leaving a very difficult pitch back up to the green, so shaping your tee shot left to right is the best play. This green has some movement to it, so give the break room to move.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee This is a great finishing hole requiring a tee shot in the fairway to have a view of the flagstick on your approach.
From The Fairway The bunker in the fairway is definitely in play off the tee, so go either left or right.
On The Green With an elevation change of nearly 50 feet, take plenty of club and trust the GPS yardage on the approach. There is a bailout area to the left—right is trouble. This green has the most movement of any on the course, so think it through. Be sure to wave to the gallery in the Adirondack chairs after holing out—they’ll be watching.
