From The Fairway Shorter hitters have an easier tee shot with a generous landing area. The fairway and scrape slope from right to left so this adds an extra challenge to approaching from a longer distance.
On The Green Longer hitters have a big decision to make as they have to decide whether to take on the trees and dam to the left or play a conservative shot to the right.
From The Fairway The drive is uphill, which can affect the distance of the drive making the hole feel slightly longer. There is little danger for the shorter hitter except for the out of bounds fence which is a long way right of the fairway.
On The Green The big danger is for the longer hitters who have to deal with the fence when it comes in much tighter to the fairway.
From The Fairway Longer hitters can reach the top of the hill, which makes the approach shot much easier as they can see the scrape.
On The Green However care has to be taken off the tee to avoid a large tree on the right and a smaller pine tree on the left. The tree on the right sits on the corner of the dog leg, which limits the amount of corner that can be cut.
From The Fairway The second shot is quite daunting as many golfers require a long iron or wood to reach the scrape in two. To make things worse the scrape has out of bounds on both the left and right sides.
On The Green There is also a mound on the left, which is mainly to protect players on the 5th tee but otherwise it only collects bad shots and doesn’t really come into play if you play up the fairway.
From The Fairway The second shot is normally an uphill shot for most golfers. At the top of the hill the fairway slopes downhill until you get to the newly sculptured flood swail. Clearing this swail reqiures two very good hits, especially in the winter months.
On The Green The scrape is a smallish scrape compared to many and has a varying slope which means the break can vary depending on your ball position. The size and dome shape make this scrape a very difficult scrape to hit.
From The Fairway The sixth hole is the home of the course’s only sand bunker. It is positioned at the front right of the scrape and comes into play for most golfers who want to attack the flag.
On The Green The club has had trouble maintaining the bunker over the years. It has also been the topic of many discussions regarding if it’s worth keeping. Many members have suggested that a mound or a grass bunker may be a better alternative, however many passionate members have requested that it stay and so it has.
From The Fairway Good strategy has to be used off the tee to avoid both ponds and get into a good position to approach the scrape. The approach shot as already mentioned is made difficult by numerous factors including the swails in front of the scrape, the spongy grass in front of the scrape and finally the size of the scrape which is one of the smallest on the course.
On The Green The scrape yields a lot of one putts due to its flatness and size.
From The Fairway The scrape is hard to hit but there is a severe slope from the right pond down to the scrape, which helps feed poor shots back towards the scrape.
On The Green The scrape is fairly flat and more long and narrow in size. However there is still some subtle breaks that are often hard to see.
From The Fairway The second shot varies in length, the shorter hitters are going to be playing medium to long irons but the longer hitters are more likely to be chipping or pitching in from a much shorter distance.
On The Green There is not much of a challenge to the hole except for the out of bounds. Fortunately this doesn’t come into play much on the second shot.
From The Fairway The hole has a slight dog leg to the right with the corner some 230m from the tee. There is thick trees on the left and a couple of large bushes on the right ready to catch wayward drives.
On The Green The key to the hole is to get the ball on fairway, however the fairway has a slope from left to right, which can cause second shots to drift towards the out of bounds on the right.
From The Fairway Many golfers have sliced their second tee shot out of bounds after smacking the electricity pole or wires with a perfect first tee shot. There is a lot of dense trees and shrubs on this hole so hitting the fairway is crucial.
On The Green A mound stretching from the front to the right back of the scrape adds a challenge to the second shot, which is often played on a slope from right to left. The scrape is average sized and has a few undulations but mainly slopes in the same direction as the fairway.
From The Fairway The tee shot is very narrow with a few trees between the tee and the scrape. These only catch out those who choose to punch the ball or have a low ball flight.
On The Green The scrape is small to medium in size and is elevated at the back to help counteract the downhill lie of the land. This does nothing but add confusion to the putting as often balls appear to turn uphill.
From The Fairway A miss to the right isn’t the end of the world but care has to be taken to negotiate the trees near 14 tee. The left hand side is slightly more difficult as the trees are a little bushier.
On The Green The scrape slopes pretty much from left to right in the same direction as the lie of the land.
From The Fairway There is a severe dog leg right and many thick trees on both sides of the fairway. Placing the tee shot on fairway is crucial as the second shot is a blind uphill shot that has to negotiate the corner if you are a shorter hitter.
On The Green The scrape is elevated severely at the back causing a severe slope from back to front. This should make the scrape easy to hit but the distance and blindness of the second shot make getting on the scrape in 2 very difficult.
From The Fairway On the second shot the players must negotiate an old dam that rarely fills with water. The dam is in play and part of the fairway so their is no need to worry about going in it. If you are playing from short of the dam you need to play the perfect shot to avoid hitting the up slope on the other bank.
On The Green Players who are more agressive play their second shots from the bottom of the dam and the decreased length can often make the approach shot easier.
From The Fairway The tee shot has to carry the creek, which doesn’t normally bother many golfers unless it gets in their heads at which time more balls seem to go down than stay up.
On The Green Care has to be taken to avoid the out of bounds at the back and to the right where the caravan park is situated.
From The Fairway There are also plenty of trees on the left to catch poorly hit drives or players who try to play a little too conservative with their line.
On The Green The second shot varies in length but golfers all have to deal with the severe right to left slope that always wants to kick balls left down towards 18 tee box.
From The Fairway The second shot is downhill to another smallish scrape that slopes if anything slightly from front to back. A small mound at the back offers little protection to stop long shots from rolling into the creek.
On The Green Lazy players who choose to play in from the 1st fairway have a challenging wedge shot over the trees and onto the scrape. Getting this shot right takes a lot of control.
