Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee A gentle, slightly downhill opening hole to ease you into the round.
From The Fairway The fairway is guarded by a bunker on right, with the approach to the green having a bunker to the right side and a mound to the left at the front of the green.
On The Green The green slopes from front to back and it is deceptively hard to hold the ball without running to the back of the green. There is a ditch running the full length of the left hand side of the hole, with out of bounds beyond onto the driving range. Go too long with your approach and you will also be out of bounds.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee This tee is just to the right of the 1st green and the golfer now looks at a slightly uphill
From The Fairway fairway running in the opposite direction to the 1st hole. There is a generous fairway for driving onto but beware of the large bunker to the right and going left as a large ditch running the length of the fairway is waiting to halt your progress.
On The Green The second shot needs to miss a large tree just short and left of the green but should you stray too far right a greenside bunker awaits. This green although looking flat has some deceptive borrows and is one of the more difficult greens to read.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway This hole runs in the opposite direction to the 2nd hole and has a generous slightly downhill fairway,
On The Green however a ditch separating the 2nd and 3rd holes runs down the left side and should be avoided if you want to make your par. A grass hollow is situated in the centre of the fairway with a bunker to the left and a further bunker a few yards ahead, which need to be avoided with either your drive (at 250 yards +) or your approach shot. To further add to the difficulty of the approach, a ditch runs ac
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee Turning left from the 3rd a short path leads to the picturesque 4th hole.
From The Fairway The elevated tee looks down at a green surrounded by pine trees which makes the hole look very tight.
On The Green Trees run the length of the left hand side with out of bounds beyond and a copse area is to the right. Ditches run across the fairway and at either side of the green. Although no bunkers can be found on this hole, plenty of other hazards demand accuracy off the tee.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee A short path to the right of the fourth green leads to the 5th tee.
From The Fairway This is a ‘risk and reward’ short par four to an elevated two-tier green. Out of bounds runs all the way along the left hand side, with large trees to the right making the ‘risk’ quite high.
On The Green Bunkers surround the front of the green with a further out of bounds at the back of the green into the adjoining cricket club. The prudent golfer will hit a mid-iron off the tee to avoid the trouble leaving an uphill wedge shot to the green and happily walk off with a par 4.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee Exiting the 5th green to the right a path takes the golfer back behind the 3rd green to the elevated 6th tee.
From The Fairway
On The Green From the tee the golfer looks down at the green which runs uphill from front to back. The view is slightly interrupted by large trees to the right which need to be avoided to reach the green. Guarding the front of the green is a large but fairly shallow bunker but danger lies to the left of the green in the form of a another bunker, with three grass hollows to the right of the green.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee From the tee the golfer looks down the fairway and towards the first of the water courses to the right.
From The Fairway At approximately 210 yards from the white tee runs a stream diagonally across the hole at the point where the fairway dog-legs to the right.
On The Green A good drive will clear the stream but a layup short will bring a large tree at the right of the dog-leg into play. The approach to the green is fairly straightforward although a miss to the right will see the ball disappear into a watery grave. A miss to the left is likely to be either out of bounds or end up in a grass hollow.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee Exiting from the back of the 7th green a short path leads to the 8th tee.
From The Fairway This at first glance looks a daunting hole with the green on the opposite side of the second lake on the course.
On The Green It is a 100 yard carry from the red tee to clear the water so the landing area is larger than it appears and a confident stroke should see you safely on the green. However the wind plays a major part on this hole with the tee being surrounded by trees and sheltered from the prevailing westerly, so careful consideration of club selection is recommended.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee The white tee requires a drive across the main body of the water whilst
From The Fairway the yellow and red tees are on the other side and have the water all down the right side. The dogleg is at about 270 yards to
On The Green the green meaning the a tee shot from the white tee needs to carry over an expanse of water to the corner of the dogleg some 225 yards away. A pull to the left is likely to go out of bounds – the further right the shot the longer the carry and possible watery grave.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee A bunker guards the approach from the left and a run off area to the right of
From The Fairway
On The Green the green feeds directly into a greenside pond. Length and accuracy are required to successfully negotiate this hole in par. This hole is usually made more difficult with the wind against and from the right.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee A slightly uphill straightforward par 4.
From The Fairway Fairway bunkers to the left and right are within driving distance but are not visible from the tee.
On The Green The green is guarded by a large tree at the left hand front corner with three small greenside bunkers behind. A larger bunker guards the right hand side with the green having run-offs to both side bunkers and a ‘false front’ which will catch anything short of the flag and run the ball back towards the front of the green.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee This slightly elevated tee looks down the length of the hole.
From The Fairway The drive needs accuracy between large trees on either side some 70 yards from the tee. Fairway bunkers are again situated within driving distance either side of the fairway with longer hitters also having a ditch running across the fairway at 110 yards from the green to take into consideration.
On The Green The approach needs directional accuracy to a long narrow green with bunkers to the right hand side and at the left rear corner.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee However from the white tee, which is some 76 yards further back than on the first hole, .
From The Fairway the drive must miss a large tree to the right and anything left will be out of bounds on the driving range, or possibly in the ditch running down the left hand side.
On The Green From this tee the longer second shot now required to the green makes it more difficult to stop the ball with a landing before the green being required so as not to run through. However the grass hollow some 15 yards short of the green means this approach requires good distance control to give you a chance of a par
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee The white tee is now 9 yards further back into
From The Fairway the wooded area and more elevated but with the same hazards along the fairway and around the green. The right hand fairway bunker is now prO-Bably more in play than from the forward 2nd tee as it requires a longer tee shot to clear.
On The Green
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee The 15th white tee is just to the left of the 2nd/14th green and from
From The Fairway the elevated position the length of the hole can be clearly seen. The drive needs to miss the large tree on the left and the ditch running down the left just after this tree. The fairway is generous to the right of this ditch but only the longest drives will afford a second shot to
On The Green the green. The layup is not easy as a combination of both sand and grass bunkers and a stream make distance control essential. From this position the hole will look familiar as it was played as the 3rd from earlier in the round.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee To the right of the 15th green and in front of the 6th tees, sit the 16th tees.
From The Fairway
On The Green This is essentially the same hole as hole 6, apart from the forward tee positions. Club selection will be the key to this hole with all the hazards around the green being clearly in view. The green slopes from back to front with a shot short of the pin leaving an uphill putt.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee The white tee for this hole is just to the back right of the 16th green and attacks what was the 11th hole previously from a different angle.
From The Fairway The tee aims towards the smallest lake on the course (by the 10th tee), so a fade is best for the tee shot. Once on the fairway the attack to the green is as the 11th hole.
On The Green
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee The white tee for this hole is to the left of the 12th tee with a slightly shorter shot to the ditch across
From The Fairway the fairway at 110 yards from the green. Once the tee shot is negotiated the hole will be remembered as the 12th with all its attendant hazards.
