Hole 1
Hole Name Forest View
From The Tee A view of the round to come. We open the round with a long,
From The Fairway
On The Green tough par 4 with a ditch short of the green. Take your par and move on. Welcome to the Forest Course at Bramshaw Golf Club. Hampshire's oldest course.
Hole 2
Hole Name Double Ditch
From The Tee The first of our 5 great par 3's on the Forest.
From The Fairway At nearly 200 yards it is a brute! An accurate shot and a friendly bounce is required to hit the putting surface.
On The Green
Hole 3
Hole Name Roundhill View
From The Tee Roundhill, as per its name, has a green perched high up on the hill.
From The Fairway The first hole of "cow corner", this risk and reward par 4 was the old 18th for many years. Often the resting spot for our local bovine residents, a well struck driver off the tee will leave a short chip up the hill.".
On The Green Alternatively, layup with a fairway wood or long iron to your perfect wedge yardage for the uphill second shot. Beware of too much spin, and the cricket matches taking place at Bramshaw Cricket Club; the outfield is just to the left of the "fairway
Hole 4
Hole Name Rothery's View
From The Tee The old 1st now revamped into a great downhill par 3 with some teeth!
From The Fairway From an elevated position, you must carry "cow corner" and a devilish little gully to reach the putting surface! A par here is well deserved!
On The Green
Hole 5
Hole Name Budgen Wood
From The Tee The end of "Cow Corner". Another great little risk and reward par 4.
From The Fairway
On The Green The sensible play is to lay up short of the downslope to leave an easy wedge to a green that slopes from back to front. Those more adventurous can give it a go! Have you got what it takes?
Hole 6
Hole Name The Dip
From The Tee A fabulous short par 5. Think it's easy at 476 yards?
From The Fairway
On The Green Come and try for yourself! An all but blind par 5 until 100 yards from the green, this is a hole for the purists. Set in the valley of Kings Garn, the green site is one of the best on the course!
Hole 7
Hole Name Fern's Carry
From The Tee A lovely short par 4 that requires shots to carry two ravines.
From The Fairway The tee shot is first, aim straight up the pathway and you'll find the "fairway".
On The Green The second shot is easier but still requires a well struck iron to find the green. The green slopes from back left, to front right.
Hole 8
Hole Name Wilf's Dilema
From The Tee Believe it or not... a downhill, blind par 3 with a stream touch-tight to the back of the
From The Fairway
On The Green green! There's isn't room for a bad shot here but if you have to bail out, there's
Hole 9
Hole Name Kings Garn
From The Tee We're nearly at the half way stage and WHAT A HOLE to finish the front 9,
From The Fairway Kings Garn. Named after the ancient brook running the length of the hole and meandering in front of the green; this hole was one of European
On The Green Tour legend, and life member John JacO-Bs' (O-BE) top 18 holes in the world! At only 341 yards it's not long, but you have to be pin point off of the tee, and the green... what a setting! It's worth it for the green fee alone!
Hole 10
Hole Name Long Stretch
From The Tee A relatively straight forward par 5; it's just straight (if you know what line to take off of the tee).
From The Fairway Tee it high, aim at the left hand marker post, and let it fly. Longer hitters will be able to go for the green in 2,
On The Green but be aware that it gets narrower the closer you get. The safe play is to lay up and leave an easy pitch or chip up the narrow green. A great birdie chance.
Hole 11
Hole Name Garns Approach
From The Tee The hardest hole on the course.
From The Fairway A long par four with a cambered fairway waiting to throw your ball towards the ferns and trees on the right.
On The Green If you survive the tee shot, a long second awaits over the Kings Garn to a double tiered green. Don't go long otherwise your chip will be lightning quick
Hole 12
Hole Name Bunkers
From The Tee What a hole! Whether it's Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter.. a hole that wouldn't look out of place on any heathland course in the South.
From The Fairway Named after it's unique features (for the Forest Course) - Bunkers is a brilliant short par 3 that demands accuracy. It is the only hole on the course with bunkers, a favoured spot for the pigs who use the "facilities" for a good scratch.
On The Green
Hole 13
Hole Name Deers Leap
From The Tee The farthest point away from the Clubhouse you can get on either course and another fantastic hole.
From The Fairway Bordering Linwood Forest, the hole gets its name from a ditch which would be a deer's last O-Bstacle before disappearing into the woodland and away from their pursuers!
On The Green It's now a great feature that you must carry to reach the safety of the putting surface. Keep right off of the tee (but not too far right) and you'll be rewarded with a clear view of the green, sloping from back to front
Hole 14
Hole Name Rustlers Oak
From The Tee With its gruesome history this is a hole not to be messed with.
From The Fairway A tough par four with a cambered fairway taking your ball back bouncing away further from the putting green. A 4 here is always well deserved.
On The Green From the tee, aim straight for the horizon and keep away from Rustlers Oak and the woods on the left. Rumour has it, the Rustler's Oak was the spot where local rustlers and poachers where hung for their crimes!
Hole 15
Hole Name Nook
From The Tee On to the newest hole on the course; the new 15th and the "Nook" -
From The Fairway love or hate the new hole, we're sure it will grow on you. It's just got a bit of catching up to do the other holes...
On The Green over 140 years to be precise! A great, short, risk and reward par 4 where "going for it could be easier than the lay up! The raised green is a tricky one to hit from any yardage but as long as you miss the ferns and cross-ditch with the tee shot, you should be in good position.
Hole 16
Hole Name Rest-Awhile
From The Tee A short, straight par 4. The aim off of the tee is to keep left to avoid the imposing oak in the distance,
From The Fairway positioned on the right side of the fairway. Stray too far left and you'll be playing with the deer in the trees. A short-iron from the fairway to a narrow green; anything on the putting surface will leave a good birdie chance.
On The Green
Hole 17
Hole Name The Moat
From The Tee Another superb par 3! The Moat is not long at 160 yards but you have to hit the green!
From The Fairway
On The Green A par 3 that changes dramatically from season to season. As the name suggests; in Spring, Autumn or Winter anything other than perfect could leave you getting your feet wet. The green slopes subtlety from left to right.
Hole 18
Hole Name Road Hole
From The Tee It's time to hit the road. But not with your ball... -
From The Fairway
On The Green A short, dog-leg left up the hill. Aim for the corner with your tee shot to leave a short wedge up the hill to a green sloping slightly from back to front. Stray too far left off of the tee and you'll find yourself blocked out by trees.
