Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway A fairly straightforward opening hole with bunkers strategically placed on the right of the fairway to catch any tee shot marginally offline.
On The Green A good drive should leave a short iron to a relatively flat green.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway Fairway bunkers left and right are ready to catch any less than straight drives.
On The Green A good tee shot should leave you with a mid/short iron approach. Bunkers guard the entrance to a large elongated green.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee This relatively short Par 5 is reachable in 2 shots depending on the direction of the coastal wind.
From The Fairway
On The Green The bunker around 70 yards from the green should be borne in mind as you play your second shot. A ridge running across the fairway short of the green has pot bunkers at either side. A small green running away from front to back makes for a tricky 3rd shot.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee A tough driving hole. With whins down the right side and mounds of rough on the left,
From The Fairway finding the fairway from the tee is essential. A good drive will still leave you a lengthy 2 shot to a sunken bowl
On The Green shaped green. Beware of the bunker on the right just short of the green.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee The hardest hole on the course. A tough Par 4 that doglegs to the right.
From The Fairway The whins and gorse that line both sides of the fairway make an accurate tee shot a must. This will leave a long second shot to a green protected by numerous bunkers short, left and right. Gorse awaits any over-hit approach shots. A bogey is not a disaster on this hole.
On The Green
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee The first of the Par 3 holes is played from an elevated tee down to a hollow where the ground slopes from left to right.
From The Fairway
On The Green Anything landing short will kick to the right where a greenside bunker awaits. Missing the green leaves a testing up and down for par.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee PrO-Bably the toughest driving hole on the course.
From The Fairway
On The Green An uphill tee shot is required to avoid the out of bounds on the right and the thick gorse bushes to the left. Keeping the ball in play is the order of the day. A good drive will leave you a short/mid iron to a green protected by bunkers both left and right.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee The long narrow green has bunkers on both sides and it slopes from left to right.
From The Fairway
On The Green The out of bounds ditch lies further right to punish any errant tee shots. The pin position will dictate whether you can use the natural contours of the green.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole gets its name from the tarmac road that borders it on the right which defines out of bounds.
From The Fairway There are 2 bunkers in the middle of the fairway that will come into play for the bigger hitters. A bunker on the right makes hitting the fairway imperative.
On The Green A good drive leaves a straightforward second shot to a fairly flat green guarded by three bunkers. A small valley behind the green makes anything long a challenging chip and putt to save par.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee A tough Par 4 where a tee shot down the right gives the best angle to the green but this may bring the out of bounds in to play.
From The Fairway
On The Green The approach shot to an angled green with bunkers left and right is one of the hardest on the course. A Par 4 here is a good score every day of the week.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee A short walk past the clubhouse is required to reach the 11th tee.
From The Fairway
On The Green A short Par 4 that may be in range for the bigger hitters depending on wind direction, this hole should give a few birdie opportunities. The narrow entrance to the green is guarded by two bunkers. The cleverly contoured green means being long with the second shot is not recommended.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee As the name suggests the green is situated on a plateau and guarded at the front edge by two deep pot style bunkers.
From The Fairway
On The Green It’s a brave golfer who goes for the green on this hole. The sensible play is to lay up and leave a 2nd shot straight up the two tier green giving you the chance of a birdie putt.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee A short Par 3 with a heavily protected green.
From The Fairway
On The Green Bunkers left, right and short mean hitting the green is imperative if you are looking to walk off this hole with a par. Be up!
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway A tough Par 4 with gorse on both sides of the fairway.
On The Green A good drive from the slightly elevated tee will leave a mid iron to a large green that slopes from back to front. Avoid the deep bunkers short, left and right of the green.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee A spectacular view over the Moray Firth awaits on this tee. A long, intimidating Par 3 hole, where you stand on an elevated tee and drive over a valley filled with gorse and thick bushes with the added hazard of out of bounds on the right.
From The Fairway
On The Green A steep incline short of the green stops any shot running up on to the fairly flat putting surface. A good up and down will most likely be the route to a par on this hole.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee The longest hole on the course requires a good straight tee shot to give you a chance of making par on this gorse lined hole.
From The Fairway A fairway bunker on the left about 260 yards from the tee is one to be avoided.
On The Green The hole opens out for the second and third shots. Beware of the bunkers at the entrance to a comparatively flat green.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee A drivable par 4 depending on the wind direction.
From The Fairway Two deep bunkers across the middle of the fairway short of the green will catch anything that does not quite carry.
On The Green The shrewd play is to lay up short of the bunkers and leave a straightforward approach shot giving you the chance of a birdie.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway Drive to a fairly flat fairway with bunkers either side at about 260 yards.
On The Green A mid iron second shot to a long two tiered green with bunkers short, left and right. If the pin is positioned on the upper tier then this becomes a very tough closing Par 4.
