However with reward comes risk, this time in the form of trees short right and bunkers short left & right , with two more waiting to catch anything running off the back. The sensible shot is an iron or fairway wood up the left side of the fairway opening up the green, leaving a short approach and a birdie opportunity.

From The Fairway A testing and yet tempting par 4. Keep your score ticking over with a sensible tee shot. A long iron/fairway wood at the left side bunker will leave a mid iron to an open green. Two bunkers guard the front left and right. Be overzealous off the tee and bogey is sure to catch you out.

A sloping 2 tier green awaits ensuring Par is not a given. In Matchplay when the flag is on the top tier, make your opponent putt out!

From The Fairway The first of 3 par 5’s. The longer hitters will take on the ditch, the question is with another to carry further down the fairway and internal OOB to the right is it worth it? A long iron/fairway wood to the ditch, followed by a mid iron is required to leave a sensible distance to the green. Play it as the par suggests, too aggressive and any number can be accumulated.

From The Fairway Driving back up the hill, distance is crucial if you are to carry the 2nd ditch in 2, with any strayed drives potentially caught out by bunkers either side of the fairway. The approach gets very narrow with bunkers hugging the right hand side so longer hitters going for the green in 2 beware. The fairway slopes from left to right towards 2 bunkers, OOB and 3 pot bunkers hug the left side. A long narrow approach shot awaits into the smallest of the greens and one that is well protected. Bogey would again be acceptable.

Longer hitters will benefit from a wider landing zone further up the fairway. Bunkers short left and right make the entry to this green difficult but use this to your advantage – take enough club and these will be no problem.

Longer hitters should favour a right to left ball flight to position themselves for a shorter approach over the water. Take caution with club selection though as the fairway isn’t as long as it looks.

You may want to avoid trying to carry the hazard and lay up instead, playing the hole as intended.
