From The Tee The double tiered green with severe slopes in front and at both sides demands an accurate shot with a medium or short iron, and it is important that the ball finishes on the same tier as the pin.
From The Tee Allows the long hitter an opportunity to find the long narrow green with a good second wood shot, but against the prevailing wind this is not often achieved.
From The Fairway The second shot, if laying up, will require thought so that the third shot can avoid the large guarding oak to the front left of the green.
From The Fairway Cardiff Golf Club’s Stroke Index 1 hole. A long drive left side of fairway, avoiding right hand traps and stream, will leave a second with a long iron over a babbling brook to an inviting green.
From The Tee Classic risk/reward par 5, with out of bounds on the right.
From The Fairway A tee shot to the left of the fairway makes the second shot difficult over or around trees to a left hand dog leg towards the green – bunkered left and right.
From The Fairway The 11th runs in reverse to No 10 and although longer, a good drive may bring the green within reach of the second shot, which must be well played to carry the brook guarding the front of the green.
On The Green A short par 4 requiring a very accurate drive. A long iron lay up from the tee will leave a simple pitch to the green which is guarded by a ditch.
From The Tee Considered the most attractive par 4, with a slight dog leg to the right. The green is excavated from sloping ground and has a tantalising putting surface.
From The Fairway Favour the right hand side of the fairway to improve your chances of holding the green with your approach.
On The Green Flanked by trees on the right with the back portion of the green practically hidden by a large tree, a very well played shot is necessary to avoid both the trees and two bunkers on the face of the green.
On The Green This penultimate hole will test your resolve. An accurate tee shot favouring the right side, avoiding the large old oak on the left, will leave a short iron to a well guarded green.
On The Green The last of the six short holes on the course. A delightful end to the round requiring a firm shot to a gently sloping green backed by the clubhouse.
