Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee The opening hole is a dog leg left.
From The Fairway Avoid the fairway bunker which leaves a downhill approach to a sloping green.
On The Green Favour the right side as everything kicks left short of the green.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee Straight away par 4. Avoid the right hand bunker with your tee shot.
From The Fairway
On The Green The second shot plays at least one club longer with it being uphill. To a well protected two-tiered green.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee Don’t be fooled by the yardage, this hole needs to be respected.
From The Fairway Emphasis should be on hitting the fairway as the green is small, well guarded and nearly impossible to hold from the rough.
On The Green
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee A good strong par 4. Longer hitters can get over the hill but beware of a blind bunker lurking at the top of the hill.
From The Fairway The fairway narrows with trees down the left. There are fairway bunkers left and right before the road and the green is also guarded by two front bunkers.
On The Green
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee A par 3 that has changed for the better over the years. The hole now plays a little down hill but is guarded with a bunker at the front and right a lovely golf hole but tough.
From The Fairway
On The Green
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee The longest par 4 on the course made longer by playing uphill.
From The Fairway A fairway bunker is well placed up the left side of the fairway. Again the second shot is uphill so take one more club.
On The Green
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee This downhill par 4 is another tough one here at Carluke.
From The Fairway The tee shot needs to favour the left side as the fairway slopes to the right.
On The Green The green is well guarded with 2 giant trees and 2 forward bunkers.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee One of the most talked about holes at Carluke. The hole is guarded all around by different species of mature trees and a pot bunker on the left. Easier for the higher hitter of the ball. Take a 3 and run.
From The Fairway
On The Green
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee The only par 5 on the front nine.
From The Fairway The tee shot is blind leading to a wide fairway with trees on the left and a bunker on the right.
On The Green Nevertheless let it rip if you want to get home in two. The green is guarded by a small burn at the front and a bunker on the right. If in doubt lay up
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee A lovely par 4. The tee shot is hit out an avenue of trees.
From The Fairway
On The Green Not a long par 4 but two bunkers guard the front of this fast and sloapy green
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee Our signature hole. A gorgeous little par 3 played from an elevated tee down the hill,
From The Fairway
On The Green but trouble looms all around the green with bunkers and out of bounds on the right hand side. A wee gem
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee This par 4 is one of the trickiest on the course and deserves respect.
From The Fairway
On The Green The safest way to play is to knock a short iron over the hill and down the middle. Then play up to the elevated green which has a bunker at the front. The longer hitters will be tempted to go for the green but trouble lurks everywhere.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee Again some big hitters will be tempted by the green but a large tree guards the left side.
From The Fairway
On The Green The sensible approach is keep the ball back from the tree and this leaves an easier shot in but beware of the bunker which guards the front of the green.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee Another lovely hole. The further you drive the ball the more the hidden bunkers come into play.
From The Fairway
On The Green The safe shot is play to the top of the ridge and you have a relatively straightforward shot into the green.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee By far the longest hole on the course.
From The Fairway The tee shot is hit from an elevated tee to a generous fairway. Only the long hitter can get home in 2,
On The Green but the 3rd shot for most is played downhill to a two tiered green. The majority are happy with a par.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee The last par 3 on the course but nevertheless a tricky tee shot if you are on a score.
From The Fairway
On The Green Out of bounds all the way up the right and only feet from the green with 2 bunkers on the left hand side. Take your 3 or even a 4 and quickly move on.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee This is a strong par 4.
From The Fairway Ideal tee shot is to the left side of the fairway as again out of bounds lurks all the way up the right hand side.
On The Green The second shot again needs one more club as it plays slightly uphill. Bunkers to the left and right of the green gather any misplaced shots. Take your 4 here and walk on.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee Not the longest finishing hole you will ever play but the tee shot is important.
From The Fairway
On The Green Keep it down the left hand side to open up the green. Anything right will either be blocked out by trees or out of bounds.
