Hole 1

Hole Name

From The Tee This hole is straight but slightly uphill – the low handicapper with two good shots can reach the green.

From The Fairway

On The Green For the long handicapper, a poor second shot would be stymied by the trees on the right. For the unwary hooker there are trees and out of bounds to the left. A ditch crosses the fairway about 100yards from the green and most high handicappers choose to lay up as close as possible to this.

Hole Name

From The Tee A tricky hole, with a very sharp dog-leg to the right, where success is determined by a well-placed drive.

From The Fairway The good player has to get his tee-shot to the left of the fairway. If you are short from the tee one can take a gamble over the trees on the right as long as you are well to the left. A sand trap is situated to the right front of the green. A chip and run approach to the green needs to be well placed due to the undulations on the fairway.

On The Green

Hole Name

From The Tee As the name implies this is a long walk, uphill all the way.

From The Fairway Thick rough on the right, and a short line of trees at about 280yards on the left the fairway.

On The Green Your second or third shot has to be straight to hit a well banked green which is protected by bunkers on the left and right. The higher handicapper should play this as a five-shot hole - if they do this, they will win the hole more times than lose!

From The Tee

From The Fairway A good drive from the white tee to the marker post will carry the thick gorse guarding the ridge and furrow fairway.

On The Green Trouble awaits for both the “slice” and the “hook”. The ground tends to fall away from right to left. Approaching the green requires a bold shot onto the green or a carefully judged pitch and run. The ladies tee shot approaches the fairway from the right. From The Tee A raised green cut into the hillside protected by a bunker on the right.

From The Fairway Either a full tee shot carrying the whole distance is needed or a clever shot, short of the bunker to roll on from the right. A long par 3 for the ladies, often into the wind. Keeping the ball below the flag makes an easier uphill putt.

On The Green

Hole Name

From The Tee An easy left-hand dog-leg hole. A straight drive down the right-hand side of

From The Fairway the fairway leaves only an uphill pitch to the sloping green which is guarded on both sides by deep bunkers. Gorse and trees protect the left-hand side of the fairway.

On The Green Apart from the bunkers, a deep gully lies in wait for the over-hit approach shot. Not such an easy hole for the ladies with an intimidating carry from the tee, especially in windy conditions.

From The Tee Another dog-leg to the left to a built-up green. The mid to high handicapper should aim for

From The Fairway the fairway from the tee while the longer-hitter might be inclined to try cutting the corner. Another bold shot carrying all the way to the green will avoid the unseen ridge that can thwart the pitch and run approach.

On The Green The green deceptively slopes from front to back so an aggressive pitch and run could end up down the steep slope at the back.

From The Tee The most difficult Par 3 on the course for the men, it is mostly “carry” over rough to

From The Fairway

On The Green a green amply guarded by bunkers to left and front right. Avoid going right where out-of-bounds and extended rough will spoil the card. From the ladies tee this is an easy par 3 as long as you drive the ball straight!

Hole Name

From The Tee Played from a high tee this is a short but formidable par four with a ditch and trees on the right.

From The Fairway A shot missing the fairway to the left will have an approach to the green “blocked” by a copse. The second shot is largely downhill towards

On The Green the green which is guarded on the left by a bunker and with a bank on the right of the green. A pitch and run approach has to be accurate and there is a steep bank off the back of the green.

From The Tee Not a long hole but those with a fade (or worse!) will need to keep

From The Fairway left off the tee to avoid the left-to-right sloped fairway sending their ball into trouble.

On The Green

Hole Name

From The Tee A level fairway with a slight dog-leg to the right.

From The Fairway From the tee there is an out of bounds wood on the right and lines of trees on the left ready to penalise a wayward shot.

On The Green The green is slightly raised with a banked approach that must be carried. Provided no head-wind is encountered, this hole is a comfortable Par 5 but you must keep on the wide fairway, especially to the left off the tee.

From The Tee Driving over rough and two streams, this hole is not long but getting a ball off the tee

On The Green to a good position for the second shot can be challenging. The uphill pitch to the green needs to avoid the bunkers on the left and right.

From The Tee Out of bounds to the right and left. The green is gradually elevated on both sides

From The Fairway

On The Green from the front and has a steep drop off the back. Not a difficult hole but many fail to find the green off the tee!

From The Tee A deep gully demands a good carry from the tee to

From The Fairway a fairway sloping steeply to the right at the bottom of which is rough. If you are short of the 150 yard markers, one is blind to the hole and there is plenty of trouble right and left.

On The Green The up-hill approach to the green makes this shot longer than many think. This hole plays as a par 5 for the ladies. High handicappers may prefer to ignore the maker pole and take the shorter route over the bridge.

Hole Name

From The Tee This slightly dog-leg hole to the left requires a good drive to clear gorse.

From The Fairway A marker post is visible from the tee. A ditch running the length of the fairway on the left will catch those not aimed at the fairway.

On The Green Another uphill approach to a blind green guarded by a bunker on the forward right demands a committed shot. Ladies tee off from the left of the fairway across the ditch. Anything placed too far right will run into the rough.

From The Tee This right-handed dog-leg should be driven with respect.

From The Fairway Attempts to cut the corner for the higher handicappers can be punished by the heavily wooded out-of-bounds that runs down the right-hand side of the hole. The wide fairway slopes gently down to the green. An inviting hole from the ladies tee, favour the left side of the fairway which slopes to the right.

From The Tee Not a difficult hole despite its’ name. The longer hitters will need to be aware of the ditch on either side of

From The Fairway the fairway just short of the small fairway bunker on the right.

On The Green The elevated green is well guarded left and right with bunkers and a committed approach onto the green is required to avoid trouble.

Hole Name

From The Tee This right-handed dog-leg requires an accurate drive to avoid trouble from the trees on the right and left.

From The Fairway The further to the left of the fairway, the better the chance of an approach shot to the green, guarded on the right by a bunker.
