Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee Supposedly the easiest hole on the course, but it can bite! It’s a real ‘risk and reward hole.
From The Fairway You can take an iron off the tee and lay up for a wedge into the green, or you can take on the green with a driver or 3-wood. If you do take on
On The Green the green you need a slight draw but beware, the hole narrows towards the green, and it’s a reload if you go too far left!
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee The longest hole but it usually plays downwind. Beware the out-of-bounds [on the road] to the left.
From The Fairway
On The Green No bunkers on this hole and the green is very flat, but the green can be very difficult to hit. Approach from the left hand side because the ball deviates to the right. Par is a good score!
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee The signature hole! It’s only 120yards but the green can be tough to hit.
From The Fairway
On The Green It’s usually into the wind and, when the ball fly’s above the tree line it can blow your ball off course. The green is quite undulating and three putts are not uncommon.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee A long up-hill par 3. big hitters might use a long iron but most mere mortals will require a wood.
From The Fairway Beware the two hidden bunkers left and right of the green. the green is heavily sloped from back to front. Always try and leave your ball below the hole. A par is a good score on this hole.
On The Green Beware the two hidden bunkers left and right of the green. the green is heavily sloped from back to front. Always try and leave your ball below the hole. A par is a good score on this hole.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee A tricky hole, but one of the prettiest. Hit your drive to the centre of
From The Fairway the fairway and as close to the edge of the plateau as possible. Then its a mid-iron into the green.
On The Green Aim for the left side of the green because everything rolls to the right. Beware the small bunker by the right of the green. A birdie is possible on this hole but most will settle for a par! Look out for the bluebells in late spring.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee A sharp dog-leg to the right, it’s a definite birdie chance! Hit a big fade,
From The Fairway preferably to the left side of the fairway and get the best angle into the green.
On The Green The green is guarded by a deep bunker to the right – don’t be tempted to go over the bunker to a sucker pin. Once on the green you’re sure to have a nice flat putt!
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee A classic dog-leg [left] hole that demands supreme accuracy off the tee.
From The Fairway You don’t need a driver but you do need to land the tee shot on a six-pence to ensure an unO-Bstructed line to the green. You’ll lose your ball if you go too wide, and there’s a big tree in the centre of the fairway.
On The Green Some players choose to lay-up short, and hit over the tree, others try to scoot the ball under the tree. The green slopes to the right so try to find the right side of the green for an uphill putt.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole can be a real card wrecker! A long and straight tee shot is essential as anything
From The Fairway wide will prO-Bably result in a lost ball. The fairway narrows the closer you get to the green, so its another good risk-and-reward hole.
On The Green Take an extra club to the green because its usually into the wind, but watch out for the deep bunkers either side of the green! A tough hole, but a birdie chance if you get it right.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee Another tricky hole but a good birdie opportunity.
From The Fairway The tee shot is narrow, particularly from the back tee, and you need to land either side of the small tree in the middle of the fairway,
On The Green but once your drive is in position you will have a short iron to the green. Beware the two bunkers guarding the green, especially when the pin is tucked to the right, and careful with your putting, there are some subtle borrows on this green.
