Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee We start with an intimidating tee shot across ‘Goose Creek’. Hole-1 is a sharp dog leg right offering a choice of three tee boxes. Short hitters try to clear the creek and get as high up on the hill as they can. Long hitters may attempt to cut the corner.
From The Fairway From the back tees, 241 yards will carry you in the fairway tight to the corner. It is about 225 to the left side of the fairway from the back tee box. It is 257 yards from the back tees to the green. A blind shot, there is a bell to alert players when the green has cleared. It is a challenging shot which usually requires the wind at your back and seldom rewards the effort.
On The Green The Red Tees have a 90-yard advantage from the back tee box. A severely sloped green from back-to-front requires a thoughtful approach usually from an uneven lie. On this green it is imperative to leave an uphill putt.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee On paper, a straightforward, straight 332-yard par 4. In practice, a hole with multiple options and challenges.
From The Fairway The Blue and White tees are on the same tee box, while the Red tees are about 80-yards closer. The challenges start on the tee box. Some people choose to lay up with a mid-iron to about 150-yards while others swing away with their driver. With either shot there is a tree protecting the right side of the fairway at about 200-yards which you want to avoid, but don’t hit it too far left because the 2
On The Green Many tee shots hit with drivers end up off the fairway, in the trees to the left leaving a very awkward pitch to the green. Another challenging green which slopes back-to-front and right-to-left with a false-front. Many putts from above the hole have rolled off the front and left of the green.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee A par-3 whose distance can vary greatly depending on the location of the tees on the long tee box.
From The Fairway
On The Green On a course known for challenging greens, #3 may be the most challenging. In general the slope is from back-to-front and right-to-left, but the challenge is a ridge which runs through the spine of the green.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole-4 is the first of two par five’s on the course. It is a dog-leg right and is difficult to reach in two. Like #1, there are options off the tee depending on your skill and appetite for risk.
From The Fairway From the Blue tees you can play straight to the corner of the dog-leg. Be aware of the wind direction and do not hit through the fairway where trees will make it difficult to advance the ball as far down the fairway as you might like. It is about 193 yards to the corner of the dog-leg and about 210 yards through the fairway.
On The Green The other option is to play around the corner. Long hitters may find this quite rewarding. A 260 yard tee shot will leave you with about 270 to the green. You’ll need to hit over the trees on the corner which is easier before full summer foliage. It is then a straight shot to the relatively flat and unprotected green.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee A fun hole where perhaps you will see a Doane University or Crete
From The Fairway
On The Green High School player attempting to drive the green on this short Par 4. A smart play is to hit an iron off the tee for a short iron approach. A more aggressive play is to swing away with the driver. There is a well-placed bunker up the left side at about 226 yards from the shared tee box that catches many a drive.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee The second of the two par-5’s on the course, Hole #6 is reachable for the longer hitters with a shot over the corner.
From The Fairway
On The Green But be aware, there is an in-course, out-of-bounds to discourage a short-cut. A 260-yard tee shot following a line to the right of the #5 green and the restroom behind #5 green will put you in the middle of the fairway with less than 200 yards to the green.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #7 is a straightforward shot 150-yards from an elevated green. There is a tree on the left which catches a surprising number of balls so steer clear and be sure you have enough club.
From The Fairway
On The Green The raised green slopes back-to-front, but shots along the edges will run off. Because of the raised green and slope, chipping close to the pin to get up-and-down is challenging. Par is a good score on this hole.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee Long hitters can drive this short par-4. It’s a 240-yard uphill shot to the green, but many who try end up caught in the trees and can risk extra shots.
From The Fairway
On The Green The green slopes away, front-to-back and to the right making it difficult to stop any chips coming through the trees. A bunker protects the front of the green. Most members will play well right of the trees leaving an easy pitch or chip for a birdie opportunity.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole-9 is another hole with choices off the tee. The Blue and White tees are on the same tee box, while the Red tees are 50-yards in front. It is approximately 260-yards to
From The Fairway
On The Green the green and if you pick the right line off the tee long hitters can be on, or be very close to the green with their tee shot.
