Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee This first par four has a slight dog leg right.
From The Fairway Your best bet is to drive the ball down the left side of the fairway and let the hills do the work. With this type of approach, you should be sitting in the middle of the fairway staring right at the pin.
On The Green
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee The trick on the tee shot is to be positioned on the right side of
From The Fairway the fairway without going into the series of bunkers. The second shot should be hit past the fairway bunkers depending on the pin placement on the green.
On The Green Left of the pin is always the best approach to this green, as right becomes very difficult. Most putts on this green break toward the hazard right of the green.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee One of the better Par 3's at the club.
From The Fairway
On The Green The greenside grass depressions make it very difficult to hit the green when the pin is on the left side. The green actually falls away from the tee shot. A score of 3 is a good score on this hole.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee Even though Hole #4 does not have a bunker, it is one of the more difficult Par 4's on the course.
From The Fairway I suggest a drive down the middle landing on the left side of the fairway.
On The Green The second shot should be kept left of the pin to avoid the deep grass bunkers to the right of the green.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #5 is normally considered a 3 shot hole.
From The Fairway A good drive in the fairway, makes for an easy layup to the water.
On The Green The third shot is tricky to a partial island green, with a fairly deep bunker on the left. Good 3rd shots can produce birdies on this hole.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #6 is considered by many the club's Signature hole. Surrounded by water and bunkers on the left,
From The Fairway
On The Green and bunkers on both the right and to the rear, this small green makes it difficult to land on the putting surface. Take a 3 and walk away from this hole.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #7 is one of the shorter par 4's at CCLA.
From The Fairway Out of bounds down the entire right side coupled with several fairway bunkers on the left make for an interesting hole.
On The Green The small green is both well bunkered with sand in the front, and a large grass bunker on the left. If you should miss the green, it is a real challenge to produce an up and down shot.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #8 is considered the hardest hole at the club.
From The Fairway Even though the distance of 402 from the tips is not very long, the large live oak tree on the right, makes hitting the fairway a challenge.
On The Green The next O-Bstacle is hitting the green that has water in the front, and bunkers in the rear. The green is also one of the smallest on the course.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee This is truly a great finishing hole to the front nine.
From The Fairway
On The Green The tee shot is up hill to a rather large landing area. The second shot is rather tricky because of the large greenside bunker on the right, and a rather large big green depression on the front left of the green. If you should hit it pass the pin, the next putt will be one of the fastest on the course. A par 4 on this hole is a great way to complete the front nine.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #10 is one of my favorite holes on the course. It plays slightly downhill, with a dogleg to the right on the second shot.
From The Fairway The fairway is well bunkered on the left with the green to the right.
On The Green A well placed second shot to this green, sets up the possibility of a birdie.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee This medium length par 5 is set up by the tee shot.
From The Fairway If you can avoid the 3 bunkers on the left and the 2 on the right of the fairway, a second shot layup is not very difficult.
On The Green The third shot should be hit away from the large grass bunker area short and left of the green.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #12 is one of 3 very hard and long par 4's on the back nine.
From The Fairway Water runs the entire length of the hole on the left side, and out of bounds down the right side of the fairway.
On The Green The green is well bunkered by sand on the left, with a large depression area on the right rear of the green.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #13 plays about 1/2 club short due the downhill nature of the hill.
From The Fairway
On The Green It is extremely well bunkered with several 'sucker' pin placements, front right, and back left. It is best to shoot toward the middle of the green, and take your chances on making a putt.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #14 is a well designed Par 4 that is both long and tight. It is best to come into the green from the left side,
From The Fairway
On The Green as the right side of the green falls off quite a bit. Missing the green to the right makes for a very difficult pitch shot.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #15 is a hole that needs a game plan in playing. Depending where the pin is located,
From The Fairway
On The Green determines the distance that you would like for your 3rd shot. When the pin is forward, it is advisable to shoot to the middle of the green, because of the lack of green space on the front of this green.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #16 is the shortage par 4, 360 yards from the tips and is also one of the most difficult to manage.
From The Fairway This hole has a creek running down the left side of the fairway that crosses over in the front of the green. The green has a deep fairway bunker greenside on the right front,
On The Green and 2 deep grass bunkers in both the rear and left side of the green. To make matters worse, it is the smallest green at CCLA. Good Luck!
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole #17 is a wonderful par 3 that measures from 120 yards to up to 177 yards from the tips.
From The Fairway
On The Green Because of the deep greenside bunker on the right, it is advisable to keep your tee shot left of the pin. But if you should venture too far to the left, a gentle grass depression will capture your ball, and make for a very difficult up and down for par.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee Jack Nicklaus is famous for his finishing holes on his Signature golf courses. Hole #18 at CCLA fits right into that category.
From The Fairway Playing to a distance of 433 normally into the wind, the tee shot is very demanding with 2 well positioned fairway bunkers on the right, and water running down the entire left side of the fairway,
On The Green and also in front of the green. Finishing up with a par 4 on this hole, finishes off anyone's round with a smile.
