Hole 1

Hole Name

From The Tee A short par-5 starting hole has its challenges.

From The Fairway The best tee shot should end up in the left side of the fairway otherwise the golfer will be faced with a demanding sidehill lie with the ball above your feet. Miss the fairway and the rough will make going for the green in 2 difficult.

On The Green A pulled 2nd shot from that sidehill lie and your ball will end up down a severe bank in trouble. Fly the green and you will be faced with the ball way below an elevated putting surface sloping away from you. The bunkers left and right swallow up an errant approach shot. And the 1st green begins the day with a surface with slopes that can be treacherous depending on hole locations. Tread carefully

Hole 2

Hole Name

From The Tee The ideal tee shot would be left center to have a full view of the approach.

From The Fairway Miss the fairway right and you may end up behind one of many trees just off the fairway.

On The Green This green slopes from right to left dramatically. Miss the green right and par is no bargain. Aim for the center of the green for best results. Look to your left and enjoy the beautiful Crystal Lake in all its glory.

Hole 3

Hole Name

From The Tee One of our more demanding tee shots.

From The Fairway Trees just off the fairway right and left call for a drive to be struck exact. Unfortunately the fun doesn’t end there. #3 over the years has had many of the rocks under the surface rising and falling with the harsh winter conditions thus there are many undulations in the surface of the fairway.

On The Green Around 140 yards from the green you may have a very challenging sidehill lie. This is one green you don’t want to miss right as the green slopes severely from right to left with a bunker protecting the right side of the green. Pin positions here can make 3-putting a common occurrence.

Hole 4

Hole Name

From The Tee Our only tee ball struck over water. Small evergreen trees protect

From The Fairway the fairway on both sides and do come into play frequently. A short hole, the challenge lies in the putting surface. A 2-tiered green with severe slope, #4 can really grab you.

On The Green A well struck tee shot will leave you less than 100 yards from the green. A wedge struck with too much backspin can catch the slope of the green, spin off the ridge in the middle and end up 20 yards back down the fairway. Miss this green deep and your short game may never face a more severe test. At 350 yards from the blue tee, birdie is a strong possibility with a well played approach shot.

Hole 5

Hole Name

From The Tee Unlike many courses, Elkview’s greens have all different slope features ,

From The Fairway not just back to front. The 5th green rolls away from the golfer requiring an exacting approach shot to hold the putting surface. The tee shot is struck over a rise to a fairway sloping down to the green generally leaving the golfer a downhill lie with a medium iron thus making the 2nd shot that much more difficult to hold.

On The Green Out of bounds right and heavy rough left make the tee ball that much more challenging with the out of bounds just 10 yards to the right of the green causing a pushed or sliced shot to be struck again with penalty. A front right pin placement lures the golfer to be aggressive and most will pay the price for a mishit shot.

Hole 6

Hole Name

From The Tee The shortest par 4 on the card offers a good chance for birdie.

From The Fairway The tee shot must avoid trees and out of bounds on the right. Play it too far left and you are blocked by more trees. A well positioned drive leaves a short iron to a small green with 2 bunkers in front.

On The Green An approach hit 10 feet right of the green will prO-Bably end up out of bounds in the yard of a neighbor. Just behind the green is a nasty natural area where finding your ball won’t be easy. Play for the middle of the green and a makeable birdie putt is yours.

Hole 7

Hole Name

From The Tee From the blue tee this par 3 measures over 200 yards from an elevated tee with only a partial view of the green.

From The Fairway

On The Green Mounds guard the putting surface and a wall in the back of the green saves balls from rolling onto a road. Look to right off the white tee for a beautiful view of Crystal Lake and Elk Mountain. Par from the blue tee is a good score any day.

Hole Name

From The Tee An uphill tee shot struck well brings the golfer to the top of the

From The Fairway hill with a long iron/rescue club approach likely. Anything shorter leaves an awkward uphill sidehill lie or perhaps landing in one of the 3 bunkers left or heavy rough right. A pulled 2nd shot puts you in trees left.

On The Green The green has a distinct left to right movement with tricky pin placements. A birdie hole depending on your approach to the pin.

From The Tee Our shortest hole on the course at 130 yards from the white tees.

From The Fairway The green is protected by 3 bunkers in front of the green and huge oak trees left. Hit your tee shot deep over

On The Green the green and you face a difficult 2nd shot from a downhill lie with the green sloping away from you. Front right pin placements are the most challenging.

Hole Name

From The Tee Our back 9 starts off with a short par 4 with

From The Fairway a fairway bunker left which many a tee shot has found. The longer the drive is struck the narrower the fairway becomes as the fairway also dips and rises leaving an often awkward 2nd shot.

On The Green This green gets rather firm in the summer and many an approach shot lacking significant backspin will roll over the back of the green into thick rough. This green also slopes front to back with a rise on the right side making a mid right pin enticing but risky as 2 bunkers guard the right. As in most cases an approach to the middle of the green leaves a good look at birdie.

Hole Name

From The Tee When the tees are pushed way forward and the wind is behind the

From The Fairway longer hitter can go for the green off the tee. Into the wind with the tees back is a whole different story. 3 bunkers guard the right side with a large tree blocking any pushed or sliced tee ball.

On The Green 2 more bunkers guard the putting surface. The left side of the green has a rise while the right side has a drop off where a ball struck with plenty of backspin can go for quite a ride.The approach is struck towards our majestic clubhouse and the patrons have a great view of play on the 11th.

Hole Name

From The Tee Our longest playing par 3 features a very challenging green.

From The Fairway Many swales in the surface make reading this surface correctly imperative. At 205 yards often with a cross wind this hole is truly a tough par 3.

On The Green A bunker guards the right side of the green and gets many visitors. Miss left or right and depending on pin placement par will be hard to come by.

Hole Name

From The Tee At just under 400 yards this hole plays shorter as it goes straight downhill.

From The Fairway Trees left and right come into play and your approach is often hit from a downhill lie to a green sloping severely away from you. When the course is firm and fast holding this green with your approach is a serious challenge. .

On The Green A shot left short of the green often finds the swale leaving a real test when the pin is in the front. Miss the green deep and you're in deep rough or perhaps over the cart path out of bounds. Appearing to be a birdie hole on the card play it smart

Hole 14

Hole Name

From The Tee A short par 5 that with an aggressive long tee shot leaves a mid to long iron approach.

From The Fairway A tee ball struck with a draw can cut the corner and shorten the hole. Overcook the hook and you’re in the trees. If you don’t carry the hill in the middle of the fairway chances are you have that Elkview side hill lie with the ball above your feet again with trouble left of the green.

On The Green Tendency here is to block your 2nd shot to avoid going left leaving a tricky pitch with the green sloping away from you. Bunkers guard the left, front and center of the green with the smallish front bunker having a deep lip requiring a great sand shot just to get on the green. Depending on the pin placement and your position on the green birdie can be had here.

Hole 15

Hole Name

From The Tee Our 15th hole has had many a golfer mutter to themselves after leaving the putting surface.

From The Fairway A green that slopes severely from right to left downhill with a dropoff in front has left this green with few fair pin placements. The tee shot is struck between walls of trees on both sides of the fairway which slopes from right to left. The ideal landing area is left center to allow the best chance at getting close to the pin.

On The Green This fairway features many undulations that can leave a nasty hanging lie for your approach. A huge tree guards the right side of the green and snags many incoming shots that appear to be looking great for the longest time. The wind generally blows from the west and makes this tree more prevalent. A bunker guards the left side and when the putting surface gets slick it is possible to have your 35

Hole Name

From The Tee Another par 3 over 200 yards, #16 plays slightly shorter because it is downhill

From The Fairway but that by no means makes this an easy hole. Bunkers left and right and trees everywhere with a green with many subtle breaks that is really hard to read.

On The Green Miss left and you may end up in the trees or in a ditch which is a free lift but leaves a recovery shot few can handle. Miss left and more trees await you. Miss long and you may be reteeing because of a lost ball. Our par 3’s at Elkview will challenge you with their length and putting surfaces.

From The Tee A par 5 that can yield an eagle opportunity or lots of headaches.

From The Fairway The tee shot from the blue tees must navigate trees fairly close to the right side of the tee box and a left side which features a red staked area just off the fairway.

On The Green More small evergreen trees dot the right side in the landing area and often times a drive ending up in the middle of the fairway will leave you with a sidehill lie with the ball seemingly at kneecap height. A tee ball struck with authority will often leave the longer hitter a mid to long iron approach from a relatively flat lie. Anything shorter off the tee will leave a hanging lie that is often t

Hole Name

From The Tee Our finishing hole can play up to 420 from the tips.

From The Fairway The left side of the fairway is guarded by a row of evergreen and hardwood trees that will swallow up a pulled or overcooked hook tee ball leaving an extremely difficult 2nd shot.

On The Green A mound 130 yards short of the green has taken many a tee ball into custody as the fairway has a distinct right to left slope rolling into deep rough. Miss the mound and you may end up behind a large tree requiring a punch shot or a very safe layup. Your 2nd shot is usually struck from a lie with the ball below your feet and if you don’t compensate for this lie your approach may end up missing the
