From The Tee The 1st hole is a 322 yard par 4 with a slight dogleg from right to left.
From The Fairway Long hitters need not use the driver. A tee shot finishing 220/240 yards on the right hand side, opens up the slightly uphill approach shot
From The Fairway Hole 2 is a 387 yard par 4 and is much tougher than the scorecard suggests particularly so early in the round. A fairway bunker on the left hand side is to be avoided and tree lined on the right doesn’t leave much margin for the perfect angle into a green with bunkers surround the front entrance.
On The Green A tee shot finishing up the left hand side of the fairway will make a much easier uphill approach shot. Always pay attention to the flag position as the front of the green slopes severely with the back of the green much flatter.
From The Tee The 3rd hole is a 517 yards and on the face of it a straight forward par 5. Tree lined all down the left the perfect tee shot will be hit just inside the two right hand fairway bunkers.
From The Fairway Long hitters may get home in two with a good tee shot while the safe play is laying up short of the gully and relying on a good wedge shot to set up a birdie.
On The Green There are cross bunkers 60 yards from the green which will catch mishit 2nd and 3rd shots while the green has 2 further bunkers. The green is angled in such a way that playing to the middle to left side of the green is the safest way to navigate onto the putting surface.
From The Tee The 4th hole measures 160 yards and for such a short hole presents a variety of challenges proving that length is not the determining factor when it comes to tough par 3’s.
From The Fairway Slightly uphill and surrounded by bunkers a well struck shot is essential to get the height to stop on the small putting surface. Often made harder by the wind blowing behind you making it harder to hold the green.
From The Fairway Hole 5 is the stroke index 1 hole measuring 435 yards and all uphill. A drive between the fairway bunkers either side will leave you a long iron to an undulating green where like the 2nd hole knowing the flag position is essential
On The Green A cross bunker 80 yards from the green will catch any mishit shots. A par 4 for the men and a par 5 for the ladies are scores you would take and run to the next tee.
From The Tee Measuring 197 yards the par 3 6th hole is downhill with a green protected by two bunkers either side of the green.
From The Fairway
On The Green You have the new 9th teeing ground as a back drop. Accuracy is essential here as the green is narrow and those two bunkers will catch any offline shots. If unsure over the correct club then play to the front of the green as everything will feed in.
From The Tee Hole 7 measures 462 from the new white plus teeing ground and 389 from the regular tees. A blind tee shot awaits but far in the distance looking up onto the Haldon forest you will be able to see Belvedere Tower.
From The Fairway This is the perfect line as the fairway will move the ball to the left slightly as it lands. Another cross bunker awaits and long hitters may find this off the tee so select your club carefully.
On The Green The 2nd shot is one fraught with danger. A narrow entrance to the green with a bunker on the right and a fall off to the left will require a well struck shot. You cannot go long or left here so if in doubt play to the front of the green.
From The Tee The 412 par 4 8th hole is arguably the toughest par 4 on the front nine and one that shows off the history of the club. The hole moves from right to left with a shot that needs to favour the right hand side as left will leave you blocked out.
From The Fairway Walking off the tee around 100 yards if you turn at a 45* angle you will see the rows of trees that used to be the old driveway to the old manor house now called Wear Park.
On The Green These trees came through the estate and the drive way finished in front of our famous white clubhouse. The 2nd shot is downhill slightly with bunkers protecting the green.
From The Tee The first of the new holes! Originally the 17th, it was reversed to create the now 402 yard 9th.
From The Fairway A drive will need to favour the right hand side of the hole to avoid the conifers on the left with a narrow green awaiting making a picturesque hole with water looming alongside.
On The Green The green is long and narrow and will require accuracy and the correct club to navigate safely.
From The Tee The reversed 16th is now the new 10th hole, a 182 par 3 which sits slightly downhill into the new large green with a bunker on the front right and water running the whole length.
From The Fairway A well-struck iron shot will be required and the green is bowl shaped. One of the feature holes of the redesign and the water that meanders down this hole adds to the beauty and treachery. Making a par here satisfying.
From The Tee The 11th hole is 358 yards long and is a tight driving hole. The hole moves from left to right with O-O-B all down the right hand side.
From The Fairway Once the tee shot has been navigated (The further you hit it the wider it gets) you will be rewarded with a straight forward second shot into a green with a bunker on the front left.
From The Fairway The 12th hole is the shortest hole on the course measuring 145 yards. A well designed green with surrounding bunkers and usually a crosswind provides a tricky shot with a short iron.
On The Green With the green being so small once on the green you will be faced with a makeable birdie putt.
From The Tee Hole 13 is 291 yards and is a par 4. A slight dogleg from left to right. Plagued by bunkers around the green the play is either a mid-iron off the tee for position or for the long hitters who can carry the bunkers driver could be the shot.
From The Fairway
On The Green The green has a very narrow entrance and widens towards the back. A hole where birdies can be made but with poor course management it can catch you out.
From The Tee Hole 14 is a 283 yard par 4 and by far the easiest par 4 on the course. Long hitters may try and drive the green and make an easy birdie, whereas a 200 yard tee shot leaves a pitch in to set up a birdie.
From The Fairway Favour the left hand side of this hole as anything missing the fairway right will leave a tricky second shot. A risk and reward hole like the 13th.
From The Tee Hole 15 is a 464 yard par 4 and plays the hardest on the course. The hole is a 90° dogleg from right to left. From the tee a long iron/wood needs to be used and the perfect line is over the oak tree on the corner.
From The Fairway Too short and you are blocked out and too long and you are in the trees the other side. The second shot is extremely narrow and will need to slightly favour the right hand side of the green to kick down. Many play this hole as a par 5.
From The Tee Hole 16 makes a welcome return to the course after over a decade of being used only in the winter when the other 16th hole was in play.
From The Fairway
On The Green Many of the members love this hole and you can see why. A short but very challenging 146 yard hole with a false front to the green and new renovated bunkers surround the narrow entrance.
From The Tee Replacing the original 9th and only 292 yards, strike your tee shot down the right hand side to open the severely sloped green from left to right.
From The Fairway Well placed bunkering will have you thinking from the tee to fairway and with further bunkers around the green will have you thinking when hitting your approach too.
From The Tee One of the most challenging holes in the South West. Three large bunkers loom from the tee and once navigated the 2nd and 3rd shots will be hitting into a contoured green.
From The Fairway Beware of the water feature and bunker on the right. The new 18th measures nearly 60 yards longer than the original.
On The Green With the green alongside the fountain and pond, with our Georgian Wear Park house and terrace on the right, our signature 18th is an extraordinary finishing hole.
