Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee An exacting drive for the opener.
From The Fairway A shot aimed to finish short of the bunker left leaves you with the best opportunity to play your second to the right half of a rather narrow fairway.
On The Green From centre to right side you are left with a straight forward pitch to a big green.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee A well-guarded par 3 with a narrow green that slopes steeply from back to front.
From The Fairway Any shot finishing left or right leaves an awkward pitch onto a down slope, so a good miss is generally short.
On The Green
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee A dog leg to the right. The brave line is over the trees which guard the right side of the tee,
From The Fairway making it a potential two shotter. The sensible approach is to leave your drive short of the two fairway bunkers on the left corner of the dog leg.
On The Green A second shot aimed to finish short of the fairway bunker right will leave a simple pitch to a tricky tiered green. Pay careful attention to the location of the flag if you want to avoid leaving a difficult putt.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee A tee shot aimed to finish short of the fairway bunker will leave a long testing second to a slightly raised green.
From The Fairway
On The Green If you’re confident enough to drive through the alley formed between trees left and bunker right, you’ll be rewarded with a lofted iron approach shot.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee A testing tee shot to a green that runs away and to the left.
From The Fairway
On The Green Anything landing left half is thrown away from the green, so the safe shot is to land front right.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee You can make the tee shot as narrow as you like by
From The Fairway taking the fairway bunkers on, but a shot aimed to finish short of the bunker right only leaves a lofted iron to the well guarded green.
On The Green
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee If you hit driver down the left half of the fairway you’re rewarded with
From The Fairway a chip shot to a narrow green and depending on where the flag is situated, this is generally over the corner of a bunker.
On The Green Alternatively, you can lay up short of the bunkers right and leave a straightforward iron down the full length of the green.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee A typical Fairhaven driving hole with two deep bunkers on the right and trees along much of the left.
From The Fairway If you can drive through a narrow funnel along the left half of the fairway you’ll be perfectly placed for your approach with a mid iron. The other option is to drive short of the bunkers right and leave a much tougher second shot.
On The Green
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee A drive to lay up short of two cavernous bunkers on the right will leave a mid iron approach.
From The Fairway
On The Green Although the green is fairly generous, it’s slightly raised and poses a prO-Blem when trying to stop the ball. Any shot that runs through finishes amongst humps and hollows and leaves a difficult pitch.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee A daunting tee shot through an avenue of trees towards a
From The Fairway
On The Green well bunkered green requiring great precision. Any shot missing left or right leaves a tough pitch.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee Yet another exacting drive. Out of bounds tight right and trees along the left side,
From The Fairway but if you do manage to drive the ball into play you have a real chance of getting close to the green with your second shot.
On The Green Another slightly raised green makes pitching a little tricky, but the green is very generous in size and shouldn’t pose too many prO-Blems.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee Out of bounds along the entire right side of the hole encourages
From The Fairway a shot to be played towards a bunker on the left side of the fairway. Although this is the safe option,
On The Green it does make the approach more difficult, as you’re hitting to a green that slopes left to right and guarded with a deep bunker cutting into the front left side.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee Two deep bunkers right mean the onus is on keeping your tee shot
From The Fairway left from the tee. Once the bunkers have been negotiated the second shot isn’t too taxing.
On The Green Beware any shot missing the green left leaves a pitch to a green that runs away from you and a prO-Bable drop shot.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee A wonderful driving hole, having just played three holes that required a fade shot from the tee,
From The Fairway we’re now asked to hit a draw shot. A perfectly placed bunker on the left side forces the player out to the right and towards a small copse of trees and worse still, more out of bounds.
On The Green The second shot is to a narrow green that runs steeply from front to back. Trees shield your approach shot until it reaches the green and then the wind becomes a factor. Keeping the ball in the centre of the green gives you the best chance of holing a putt.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee What appears to be a fairly innocuous par 5, still requires a well placed
From The Fairway drive to avoid two deep bunkers on the right and a copse of trees to the left. A drive short of the bunkers ensures
On The Green the green can’t be reached in two, but makes the hole a fairly straightforward three shotter. The green slopes steeply back to front and whenever the flag is in the front portion of the green, you’re left with a challenging putt.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee A brute of a par 4. Long and narrow with potential disaster everywhere.
From The Fairway The sensible play is to drive the ball short of two bunkers which cut into the right side of the fairway, leaving a simple enough second shot lay up.
On The Green The brave will attempt to drive into yet another narrow alley, which runs along the left side of the fairway and leave themselves with a mid to long iron approach, but this is fraught with danger. Realistically the hole is a good three shotter.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee A picture postcard par 3 with disaster surrounding the green for anyone struggling with bunker shots.
From The Fairway The green is elevated and out of bounds lurks close to the back edge, so the tee shot must be struck well to keep the ball on the putting surface.
On The Green Trees surround three quarters of the green and seem to shelter us from the wind, but the open quarter creates a vortex and can do some pretty strange things to the ball in flight.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee A real risk or reward hole and a great finishing hole.
From The Fairway A drive over the bunkers left leaves a tempter for your second to a green well guarded by bushes left and out of bounds tight right.
On The Green The clever play is to drive short of the small copse right of the fairway and play a second shot short of the bunker left, leaving a simple pitch to a more than generous green.
