Hole 1
Hole Name New Bridge
From The Tee A wide fairway with a gentle down slope encourages over hitting but a plantation on the right and thick rough on the left are there to punish the over ambitious. A draw down the right side will have the crowds applauding.
From The Fairway
On The Green Either way, the shot into the green is uphill with steep bunkers waiting to trap the timid.
Hole 2
Hole Name Golden Valley
From The Tee Another hole straddling the valley, but this time most golfers can clear from the tee.
From The Fairway Trying to straighten the right hand dog-leg left however means that you risk a fairway bunker with two further green side bunkers defending the right hand side of the hole.
On The Green
Hole 3
Hole Name House in the Trees
From The Tee Over the brow of the hill to a green which cannot be seen from the tee.
From The Fairway
On The Green If anything try to stay a little left of the marker post to give yourself the best shot into the green by taking the green side of the bunker out of the equation.
Hole 4
Hole Name Little Forest
From The Tee
From The Fairway
On The Green Another green with a backdrop of mature trees and lots of sand. Another difficult club selection because of the drop from trees to green.
Hole 5
Hole Name The Canal
From The Tee Uphill and (usually) into the wind. Lots of space on the right - but the rough is very thick.
From The Fairway Lots of space on the left - but the plantation gets in the way. Straight up the middle of the fairway is a good choice and good shot.
On The Green
Hole 6
Hole Name Shadow of the Abbey
From The Tee
From The Fairway Back accross the valley and a long way uphill to the green. There are bunkers all around the front of the green so take enough club on your approach.
On The Green
Hole 7
Hole Name Over the Hill
From The Tee In some people's view, the most attractive hole on the course.
From The Fairway A good drive requires a long second shot onto the green guarded by a phalanx of bunkers and with a backdrop of mature trees.
On The Green Drop the second one short and it is another uphill shot to the green.
Hole 8
Hole Name Monk’s Head
From The Tee
From The Fairway
On The Green Downhill to a wide spacious green. Can't miss - but a surprising number of people do. Just watch the four bunkers.
Hole 9
Hole Name St Teilo’s Well
From The Tee A fine hole where you can't see the green from the tee. Dog-leg left, thick rough on the right, plantation on the left.
From The Fairway
On The Green To get the distance on your tee shot to reach the green on two you will need to be brave. Par this one to break and you deserve a drink in the bar.
Hole 10
Hole Name Boar’s Head
From The Tee The hole is a slight dog-leg right with out of bounds on the left.
From The Fairway The approach to the elevated green is across an open ditch and a road and the green is guarded by a bunker on the front right.
On The Green
Hole 11
Hole Name Long Meadow
From The Tee A walk through the forest leads you to another elevated tee from which the green looks even further away than the yardage suggests.
From The Fairway A left to right slope on the fairway favours a slight draw on the drive but beware of the fairway bunker on the left awaiting the long hitter.
On The Green An accurate shot into the green is required to avoid the three bunkers on both sides of the green.
Hole 12
Hole Name Screaming Forest
From The Tee
From The Fairway
On The Green Thick rough lies along the left hand side of the hole and is reinforced by the only bunker so the safety conscious tend to play right of the green. A long iron pitching short will run on in dry conditions.
Hole 13
Hole Name The Reindeer Leap
From The Tee
From The Fairway The shortest Par 4 on the course is a dog-leg left with a fairway bunker well within the reach on the right hand side of the fairway. A bunker on the left of the green is ready to trap the unwary taking the direct approach.
On The Green
Hole 14
Hole Name Tuedd Carwe
From The Tee
From The Fairway A tee shot over a small lake, an open ditch running the length of the fairway on the left hand side, a right to left slope on the fairway, fairway bunkers at each stopping point on the way to the hole. A well hit tee shot with a draw will go a long way.
On The Green
Hole 15
Hole Name Capers
From The Tee A tee shot down onto the green well beneath you, with any club between a 7 iron and a wedge depending on conditions and tee and pin placements.
From The Fairway
On The Green Hit it short and you are heading for a bunker, hit it long and the bank behind the green will add yards to your distance.
Hole 16
Hole Name Penny Pieces
From The Tee
From The Fairway A deceptively simple hole but with a ditch and difficult rough to the right of the fairway, and a fairway bunker to the left.
On The Green Three further bunkers guard the green but a shot to the back of the green ensures safety.
Hole 17
Hole Name High Forest
From The Tee A long way, especially into the wind, and across a blind valley onto an elevated green, but always with the option to bail out.
From The Fairway
On The Green One of the most attractive holes on the course in the summer with the green virtually surrounded by mature trees.
Hole 18
Hole Name Tram-way Home
From The Tee Back through the forest for a dog-leg left with an awkward tee placement which beckons your ball into the woods.
From The Fairway The fairway runs parallel to the 10th and brings you back to the clubhouse.
