Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee The short par 4 opening hole provides a chance to start the round on a strong note.
From The Fairway
On The Green The tee shot can be played with a long iron all the way to the driver depending on how daring you are. Beware, don’t miss left as that is where the trouble lurks. Precision on the approach shot is required to make sure your ball ends up in the correct area of the green. A hump in the middle of the green will make all putts, no matter the length, very challenging.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee The first one-shotter on the course requires exceptional skill to master the hole
From The Fairway
On The Green Playing downhill, the yardage on the card isn’t the distance the hole will play. But don’t forget to check the wind by O-Bserving the flagpole next to the 1st tee. The greedy player invites trouble in either of the bunkers or the uneven lies that surround the green.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee A well-struck tee shot is important to maximize distance. Drives that make it over the hill get the benefit of an extra 20-40 yards.
From The Fairway
On The Green While searching for that extra distance off the tee, be cautious of the left side. A similar fate to the 1st hole awaits those who attempt to play aggressively down the left or have a little too much draw on their ball flight. An open front with a steep false front on the left side allow for both high and low approach shots. Success isn’t achieved in just getting onto the putting surface, as a lar
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee The longest hole on the course requires multiple, consecutive well-struck shots to be conquered.
From The Fairway Accuracy is just as important as strength to overcome the course’s first par 5. Shots sent offline will find uneven lies, fairway bunkers, and difficult recovery shots.
On The Green A miss to the left of the green is imminent doom. The infinity aesthetic of the green makes it difficult to dial-in the exact location of the hole. But no need to worry as there is a lot of putting surface up there though much of it is hidden by the front right bunker.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee The 5th is the start of a tough stretch of holes for even the best golfer.
From The Fairway A strong tee shot to a narrow landing area is just the beginning. If you successfully avoid the fairway bunker on the right or the mounding on either side,
On The Green you face a difficult approach shot to a green with a diagonal ridge and a deep front bunker guarding the left side. In addition to the bunker on the left, there is a false front on the right that makes precision on the approach shot even more difficult. For a flag in the left portion of the green, a long and/or left approach shot will leave the easiest putts or chips. Very sneaky design by Beau We
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee A blind tee shot should be aimed at the gap between the right side of the 4th green and the complex of trees next to the 7th tee.
From The Fairway
On The Green A drive hit down the left side will get the firmest bounce and provide the longest drive possible. Tee shots hit to the right need to avoid the lingering Out of Bounds; those that stay in bounds are then faced with a difficult recovery shot. Reaching the putting surface is generally the hardest part of the 6th, but a misplayed approach shot leaves a difficult up and down from either of the bunkers
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee An uphill and slight dogleg right that plays as a par 4 for the men and a par 5
From The Fairway for the women requires a well-struck tee shot to a narrow fairway.
On The Green The approach to the green is when the fun really begins. The punchbowl green features a spine running through the middle from front to back. A two-putt or better should be considered a victory on this tricky green.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee A tee shot down the left side of this hole shortens this slight dogleg to the left, but you could end up with tree trouble and will pay the price with a poorer angle on approach
From The Fairway
On The Green The best tee shots are played down the right side, which opens up the entire putting surface for the approach shot. This green has a severe left-to-right pitch, so an approach on the right side of the green or in the approach to the right of the green, leaves the easiest route for finishing out and creating less stress.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee The eye is instantly be drawn to the pond bordering the entire right side of the hole.
From The Fairway
On The Green If you elect to steer clear of the water, a tee shot to the left rough will find a very awkward lie and a difficult approach to the green. The best tee shot is close to the water, as you then have an improved angle into the green. The best place to leave the approach shot is short of the hole and to the right, which then offers the best angle to almost every hole location. This is the deepest gree
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee The relocated putting surface has proven a very popular change – and made for a much harder hole
From The Fairway The uphill tee shot into a fairway that tilts from left-to-right needs to be played as much up the left
On The Green side as possible, not only to gain distance, but to have the best angle into the green. The putting surface runs from front to back, which must be considered when playing the approach shot.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee This tee shot straight uphill is quite intimidating. Once up the hill, you must play over the entrance road to a tricky green complex.
From The Fairway
On The Green Shots into the green that miss to the right will result in difficult short game shots. Arriving at the surface is just the beginning, as this green’s numerous hole locations are all quite challenging.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee The shortest hole on the course rewards great shots and severely punishes the wayward.
From The Fairway
On The Green A false front on the left and three deep bunkers make an up-and-down a big challenge. The putting surface has numerous subtle breaks and a shelf in the back left of the green.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee A shorter par 4 with numerous trees on the left and one key tree on the right puts a premium on accuracy off the tee.
From The Fairway
On The Green Approach shots need to be played into the correct half of the green to make for a positive experience. Similar to the last hole, approach shots that miss in any of the greenside bunkers will leave an exceedingly difficult up-and-down. And if you had not noticed, the Out of Bounds is just to the right of those bunkers, so beware on the approach shot; you run out of land quickly.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee The tee shot on the final par 5 plays into a strongly tilted fairway from left to right.
From The Fairway
On The Green The optimal tee shot needs to be played as far down the left as possible to maximize distance. As you play down the hole, beware of the Out of Bounds down the right side of the hole, as well as the creek that meanders across the hole. The putting surface slopes from back to front and the best approach shots are left under the hole.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee The final par 3 on the course plays uphill to a green with a top-left shelf and a lower right side.
From The Fairway
On The Green To protect the lower right shelf, there is a steep false front to the green. The chipping area to the right of the green is the best place to miss to keep those big numbers off the card.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway This fairway tilts from left-to-right and requires a tee shot down the left side to keep the ball in the short grass
On The Green An approach shot that is hit short of the green will bounce forward and find its way onto the putting surface. This large putting surface has a lower right bowl and a hump in the back portion of the green, which puts a premium on a precise approach shot.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee What you see is what you get on the penultimate hole. Accuracy is a necessity here as trees on both sides of the hole make approach shots from the rough incredibly difficult.
From The Fairway
On The Green Be careful on the approach not to go long as a steep drop-off awaits the player who gets overly aggressive. This two-tiered green will challenge even the best putters.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway A downhill tee shot to a bending fairway is just the start to this challenging home hole.
On The Green While there is more room down the right, the best spot to place your drive is down the left to make the approach as easy as possible. The approach shot plays uphill, is blind, and is almost guaranteed to have an uneven lie. The putting surface has a false front and tilts from right to left. Nothing feels better than making a putt on the final green after another successful round at GCC!
