Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee First up is a challenging opening hole for all players that will serve to remind you that you are now in the foothills.
From The Fairway Aim down the centre with longer hitters aiming to land on the bottom plateau leaving a 2nd shot to an elevated green. Approach the green from the right side.
On The Green
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee This Par 5 has a tree lined fairway with out of bounds on the left and the right trees protecting the 9th hole.
From The Fairway The fairway runs right to left with longer hitters aiming towards the top of the hill to have a view of the green for their next shot. If you go left off the tee you will risk a hard 2nd shot to clear the tree line from the roadway to get back in play.
On The Green The green slopes left to right and is one of the faster greens particularly if you have a downhill putt.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee This Par 4 is one of the most challenging holes as the slope of Highercombe comes into play.
From The Fairway Drives need to follow the left tree line and will run out to the right side of fairway.
On The Green A bad miss right can put you in a precarious position on the 6th hole.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee A slight dog leg to the right that challenges the long hitters with club selection.
From The Fairway Longer hitters using an iron aiming for the plateau at the bottom will leave you an easy wedge into the green.
On The Green The right side of the hole slopes steeply into a valley of trees that will create plenty of challenges for all players.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee The first Par 3 for men with a slightly elevated green set into the side of a hill.
From The Fairway
On The Green To have a better chance of hitting the green, tee shots should be directed to the right hand side to allow the slope to bring it back towards the hole.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee Water hazard on the left with trees lining the right side of the fairway.
From The Fairway The stobie pole in the background is a good target to get your line but you also want to make sure not to be long when approaching the green which falls sharply on the left hand side.
On The Green
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway Highercombe’s signature hole a scenic Par 3 with the green and fairway surrounded by significant gum trees on right and left that can catch a stray tee shot, putting you in the lateral water hazard.
On The Green A shot left of the left hand tree usually means trouble but the green has undertaken a significant size increase in 2023.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee Coming back over the water hazard from the previous hole hitting up to a raised green.
From The Fairway Big hitters can drive the green, but if you land short you will have a tricky uphill second shot to the hole.
On The Green The hardest hole for ladies with the left tree line making the fairway tight.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee Previously a Par 5 for men that was changed in 2011 to a challenging Par 4. The ideal tee shot is to keep as close to the right tree line as possible.
From The Fairway Over the hill, the fairway tends to run the ball right to left with dense trees on the left that can make it a hard hole.
On The Green Playing partners need to be on the ball with this hole to watch the line of your ball.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway
On The Green With a bunker guarding the front of the green and a water hazard across the back, club selection is the key to this downhill Par 3.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee Slight dog leg left to right. A good drive will give you a short iron into the green. Beware of the bunkers to the right.
From The Fairway
On The Green With the green sloping from back to front, approach shots should be left under the hole to give yourself an uphill putt.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole brings you back past the clubhouse with a slight left to right dogleg.
From The Fairway The trees along the right side of fairway are to be avoided with long hitters sometimes taking them on in order to cut the corner off the hole.
On The Green Approach shots to the green need to be accurate with a bunker on right and large trees on left.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee Bunkers on the right can catch your drive but there is plenty of room to the left to avoid trouble. Easiest hole for the ladies…just hit straight!
From The Fairway
On The Green
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee A short Par 4 where longer hitters can reach the green with a straight and accurate tee shot.
From The Fairway
On The Green For players that are unable to reach the green off the tee, a 3-wood or long iron would allow a short second shot to the green.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee This the most talked about hole at the 19th, a short dogleg Par 4 that entices the longer hitters to drive the green.
From The Fairway Bunkers guard the front and back of the green, and out of bounds surrounds the hole making this a great challenge for golfers of all levels.
On The Green
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee The ideal tee shot is to the top of the hill with the stobie pole as your target. The fairway turns to the left over the hill.
From The Fairway A pine forest to the left can catch the longer hitters attempting to cut the corner.
On The Green The approach shot is downhill to the green with out of bounds over the back.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway The longest Par 5 on the course with the fairway sloping from right to left. Most players will hug the right tree line to ensure their ball will hit the fairway.
On The Green Anything left of centre will be in danger of falling into the trees on the left making your recovery difficult.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee The final Par 3 is surrounded by bunkers, making club selection very important.
From The Fairway One of the longer greens on the course where hitting the middle can be a very gratifying way to end your days play, but short usually means a tricky chip to finish.
