From The Tee A really crucial opening hole. Take a driver from the first tee and on a calm day which leaves you 170-150 metres with a second shot uphill.
From The Fairway Keep to the right half of the green to avoid the bunkers on the left from which any shot is a difficult one.
From The Fairway A 3 iron or rescue club off the tee favouring the left half of the fairway because you can be sure of getting around the slight corner, followed by a short iron to the green which is surrounded by deep bunkers.
On The Green The green has been designed with interesting slopes and undulations.
From The Fairway The fairway bunkers on the left, and the trees on the right, call for a tee shot that leaves you on top of the hill.
On The Green The wide green offers variation to pin placements. The right side of the green is well guarded by bunkers while the left side is open for golfers wishing to play safely.
From The Tee Driver down the left side of the fairway is the correct strategy on this long sweeping par 5.
From The Fairway Longer hitters looking for the green in 2 shots must be sure to stay out of the fairway bunker on the right side of the fairway as a mid to short iron will be required to safely clear the front lip of the trap.
On The Green Play to position with the second shot, leaving a short iron for the third to a green with a demanding bunker protecting the front of the green. Club selection will be critical as the green is extremely long.
From The Tee The fairway is narrow with bunkers on the left and right side of the fairway. Taking driver from the tee is not always the play.
From The Fairway You need to avoid the bunkers to assure you have a decent second shot. The green is situated uphill so taking a longer club in is always recommended as all the trouble sits at the front half of the green.
From The Fairway A challenging tee shot, with bunkers down the right and the fairway sloping left. Aim at the right bunker and this will ensure you stay on the fairway.
On The Green Take a driver from the tee which leaves a mid Iron into the green. Once again the centre of the green is the target with bunkers down the right side of the green.
From The Tee A good drive, skirting the fairway bunkers on the left, leaves a long iron or rescue to the green where you tend to aim front right.
From The Fairway
On The Green Better players can get to the green in 2. Laying up is generally the advice given here to leave yourself a good pitch into the green which is surrounded by bunkers in the front half of the green.
From The Fairway A drawn tee shot avoiding the shorter left side bunkers and the right side bunker leaves an approach which must carry the left-hand traps. Most players would cheerfully take 4 here every time.
From The Tee Aim for the centre of the green on this deeply bunkered par 3 as the green is long and narrow.
From The Fairway Club selection can vary from 4 iron to 8 iron depending on tee location and wind direction.
On The Green Golfers sand play must be proficient as the green is entirely surrounded by bunkers. Making par on this challenging hole will be a satisfying result.
From The Tee Play to a position in front of the first bunker on the right side of the fairway to eliminate the potential score blowouts that can arise from an encounter with the water hazard.
From The Fairway From here use a mid iron to approach to a green that is angled away from the fairway and surrounded on both sides by very deep bunkers. Strategy is a must at Huntingdale with this hole a great example.
From The Tee A challenging par 5 with the tee shot over a water hazard. This is considered a definite 3 shot par 5.
From The Fairway A careful second shot is required to the undulating fairway which has trees and a carefully positioned fairway bunker on the right hand side and a new water hazard on the left.
On The Green A large green awaits the approach with 4 or 5 difficult flag placements available to test the players.
From The Tee A markedly different proposition off the tee. The bunker on the right side of the fairway will make the player on the tee think.
From The Fairway A driver up the left half will usually be best. The prevailing wind will have a big influence on the strategy adopted as will the player’s position in the event.
On The Green A very real “Risk and Reward” proposition. The greenside bunkers are wonderful.
From The Tee A totally different feeling on the tee with the opening up of the fairway. The water is visible again and must be avoided.
From The Fairway A driver with a fade can be played with greater ease but the water will be easily reached down breeze. Another large rolling green awaits a mid iron approach.
From The Tee One of golf’s toughest finishing holes. Excellent fairway bunkering left and deep scrub on the right make this a treacherous driving hole.
From The Fairway The expanded approach cross bunker should not cause too much trouble for the Pro’s but it can deceive the club selection for the second shot.
On The Green Swales and hollows through the back will very much be in play and more demands will be placed on the accuracy of shots to the large undulating green. Anyone who makes a 4 here will be a very happy golfer walking into the clubhouse.
