From The Tee
From The Fairway This wonderful par 3 is used when course works are being done elsewhere and has become a favourite of the members. Teeing off from a raised tee to a green surrounded by a small mound on the left and grassy hollow to the right and rear, it’s protected by 2 bunkers on the right and one short left. The tee shot needs to carry to the green as the opening between the front bunkers is very narrow but a

From The Tee
From The Fairway A 500 metre par 5 offering an enticing beginning to the round. Fairway bunkers on the right hand side of the fairway will catch a long drive but a 3 wood or 3 iron will position your tee shot short of these. The second shot requires a long iron or hybrid to a large mound in the center of the fairway. An uphill pitch to the green can be deceptive and danger lurks with a deep swail in the middle of

From The Tee
From The Fairway Accuracy is critical on this short par five as thick vegetation lines both the left and right sides of the hole requiring a drive to hug the fairway bunkers on the left. Reachable in two or laying up the player needs to avoid a large natural dune on the right-hand side that will grab any errant shots. Negotiating this leaves an easy pitch to a relatively flat green and a birdie opportunity.

Hole Name
From The Tee A challenging long par 3 with bunkers protecting both sides of the pear shaped green. The third is made even harder by a prevailing westerly breeze that comes from the players left. The safest shot is to aim for the wider back half of the green; a par 3 is a good result here

Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee An accurate drive is required through a narrow chute to a plateau on top of the hill. A good drive will make its way down to the bottom and leave only a short pitch to the green. The second shot needs to be carefully played to avoid the deep greenside bunkers and ideally to position the ball on the correct side of a large spine that splits the green.

Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee The 5th at Kooyonga is a great risk-reward hole providing the opportunity to drive the green, if playing for position the aim is to place your ball short of the fairway bunkers. From here you are left with a challenging pitch from around 100 meters to a two-tiered green with a swail from left to right. The green is protected by 3 bunkers on the left and grassy hollows to the right and rear.

From The Tee A challenging drive off the tee with the driving area protected with bunkers on both sides and large gums on the right. The second shot is a blind one from the base of the hill with pine trees behind the green providing a good aiming target. Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee A short hole with a green that has two levels. Any shot miss-hit or under-clubbed will end up in the front left bunker or down a deep slope front and right of the green. Once on the two tiered green, it slopes from back to front and to the left. Long putts are particularly tricky on this green.

Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway One of the hardest holes on course, this long dog leg left par 4 requires an accurate drive down the left half of the fairway. A good drive still leaves a very difficult approach to a raised green that is very hard to hold. Missing the green will require some deft touch with your chip or bunker shot to recover a par – A poorly placed shot often results in a big number on hole number 8.

Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee This beautiful par 5 is a genuine eagle chance and often plays very short with the prevailing tail wind. The drive is protected by bunkers on the left and a water hazard and tea-trees that run the length of the hole on the right. The second shot if laying up needs to be played out to the right to avoid being blocked by the large pines running down the left side. This will leave a comfortable pitch

Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole typically plays into the teeth of the breeze and at 400m from the back tees requires a solid straight drive to avoid trouble on both sides. The long approach shot to this green is all important with the green protected by bunkers both sides; a dense thicket of tea-tree encroaching to the right presents an even greater risk. A sharp slope in the green only adds to the difficultly here, fo

Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee The 11th is a relatively short and straight par 4. Well positioned fairway bunkers on the left restrict the longer hitters from taking Driver. The approach shot of approx. 100-120m is to a relatively flat green protected with 2 bunkers to the right and one short left but with a steep run off left and to the rear of the green. A genuine birdie chance hole.

Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway The 12th is another hole depicting the great design of Kooyonga that has stood the test of time. The drive needs to be middle left of the fairway so as to avoid running through the fairway. The player is then left with an approach to the raised green. Often played into a prevailing breeze and with a false front on the right and a steep run off at the rear the approach is a great test of skills.

Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway A long straight hole requiring a carry to the top of the fairway rise which will allow the long hitters to enjoy the run over the rise. Any drive slightly left will be caught in a grassy hollow. The major challenge to the 13th is with the approach shot into a green well protected by large bunkers. The green has only a small opening but widens out beyond the right hand bunker to a relatively flat

Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee The most recognisable and famous of Kooyonga’s par 3’s the 14th looks very simple from the tee. The prevailing breeze is blocked from the tee and often causes issues with club selection and estimating the impact of the crosswinds as the ball climbs above the tree level. The green is well protected by deep bunkers and a grassy hollow at the rear. A challenging club selection but an opportunity for

The green sits on a crest of a slope but with run offs all around the green. The hole was in-fact the most difficult par 3 of the year for the US Nationwide Tour when Kooyonga hosted the co-sanctioned Jacobs Creek Classic, three here is a great score.

From The Tee The most difficult par 5 on the course. A good drive that avoids the left hand bunker will give long hitters a chance to go for the green in two. The second shot needs to be played down the left-hand side of the fairway to avoid a dense stand of trees on the right that may block any approaches. A delicate approach is left to a small shallow green with a false front. A relatively flat green with so

Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee The 17th is another signature Kooyonga hole where the design of the hole in relation to the landscape is as good as it could possibly be. The drive over a rolling hill requires a good shot to carry the deep bunker positioned into the left side of the fairway, often in to the prevailing breeze. The approach is to a green nestled at the base of a large sand hill, protected by water at the front righ

From The Fairway The final hole at Kooyonga requires a well-placed drive to the right of the fairway bunkers on the inside of the dog-leg. The approach to a 2 tiered green with a spine in the middle of the rear section creates 3 possible pin zones and brings the bunkers and grassy hollows in to play should the approach shot not be accurate or the correct club not selected. Whilst not a long finishing hole it’s a c
