From The Tee The spectacular view of the surrounding mountains combined with an elevation change of over 100 feet from tee to green, make this par 5 a special hole. A solid drive should catch the down slope and shorten the hole considerably. The decision to lay up or go for the green in two will be complicated by the narrow opening to this well bunkered green.

From The Tee Swirling winds and elevation change can make proper club selection difficult on this uphill par 3. This hole always plays at least as long as the yardage. Plan on a minimum of one extra club to carry the false front and the deep bunker that protects short and left.

From The Tee
From The Fairway This hole is a slightly uphill dogleg left, with out of bounds along the left side. The fairway is sloped from right to left with deep bunkers left and two pot bunkers right. Cutting the corner shortens the hole but brings the bunkers on the left into play. Your approach shot is to a raised green surrounded by stadium style mounding and guarded by a deep bunker front left.

From The Fairway This beautiful dogleg left provides a very generous landing area bordered on the left by the same large fairway bunker that guards the right side of #1. Finding this fairway will leave you with a mid to short iron approach shot to a green protected by a bunker front left.

From The Tee The 6th tee sets you high above the putting surface, giving you a great view of your target. This hole will play as much as one to two clubs shorter than the posted yardage. Enjoy the view of this pear-shaped green framed by two large Sycamore trees and guarded in front by a meandering creek.

From The Fairway This is the first of three consecutive holes that occupy the lowest part of the course. From tee to green, there is very little elevation change on this par 5, but there are plenty of subtle dips, bumps, and uneven lies along the way. The tall grass pinches in the closer you get to the green, so be cautious with an aggressive play from the fairway.

From The Fairway Its length and narrow fairway defend this slight dogleg right. Not only is it the longest par 4 on the golf course, but this slightly downhill hole plays directly into the prevailing wind. Hitting the green in regulation will be especially difficult if you lose your tee shot into the rough and mounding along the right side.

From The Fairway The only pond on the property comes into play on this short par 4. You may consider playing a fairway wood or long iron for position in this fairway. The more you challenge the water down the left side, the more the green comes into view as a large mound will block the view for those who play it to the safer, right-hand side.

From The Fairway The first hole on the back nine features a creek at the end of the fairway, out of bounds left, and hazard right, so long hitters may want to gear back and hit a long iron or fairway wood on this short hole. Check yardage from the tee and leave yourself with a short iron approach shot to a very narrow green with a bunker left and wooded area right.

From The Fairway The championship tee on the #1 handicap hole is the highest point on the property and affords great views of the golf course, the Catoctin Mountains and western Frederick County. This impressive sweeping dogleg right will tempt the gambler to try a tee shot over the deep bunker that protects the entire right side of the fairway.

From The Tee This is the longest of the five par 3’s at Maryland National Golf Club, and provides another vantage point from which you can see much of the property. The green is 70 feet below the level of the teeing ground, making it play considerably shorter than the yardage. The large bunker short and right of the green catches many mishit shots, but otherwise there is little danger.

From The Fairway Those of you who have passed by our property on Interstate 70 will recognize this one. This beautiful hole is why we enjoy the game of golf. Your drive will play a bit downhill, but reaching this green in two will take two healthy swats as the fairway climbs back uphill all the way to the putting surface. Two deep pot bunkers in front and a steep approach protect this two-tiered green.

From The Tee This beautifully simple par 3 occupies the quietest corner of the golf course. An environmental area extending from the tee to the green and woods left and right create what is, in essence, an island green. The bunker that wraps around the front and left of this green will collect minor miscalculations of both the wind and your confidence.
