Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway This beautiful Par 4 is a wonderful way to start your round at MGC. Watch out for the trees that line the right hand side of the fairway off the tee box and aim for that lone Eucalyptus in the centre of the fairway.
On The Green Ladies are well treated with an 80 metre start. Cane farms & The Great Dividing Range make a fantastic backdrop.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway Par 4 with a nice wide fairway and a slight dog leg left. Plays considerably longer than its actual length. There is Rainforest and penalty area behind this narrow sloping green. Don’t be long.
On The Green
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee Number 1 rated hole for both Men & Ladies. A good length Par 4.
From The Fairway Drive to the right of the large Eucalyptus and it’s a very manageable 2nd shot into the raised green.
On The Green Backdrop is the Great Dividing Range with sugar cane farms in the foreground.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway The first of a very reachable Par 5. Large Eucalyptus in the middle of the fairway can cause a problem.
On The Green When playing your 3rd shot into the green take at least 1 extra club. There is always a slight breeze coming off the Coral Sea.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee Deceptive Par 4. It plays long and you have to be straight off the tee.
From The Fairway Draw your drive left and its Rainforest penalty area. Out of bounds behind this green makes for a challenge.
On The Green This green always plays fast. Good Luck. A short drive through pristine rainforest to the 6th.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee Our 1st Par 3 with tee surrounded by Tropical Rainforest. A short hole with water in front of the tee.
From The Fairway
On The Green No Crocs sighted in this area. Take an extra club to this green as there will be a refreshing breeze when your ball clears the Rainforest. Don’t be right as the bunker will eat you.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee A short Par 5 with a hard dogleg right. Take the corner on and end up in our strategically placed dam.
From The Fairway A nice straight drive to the corner is smart play. 2 shots to a large kidney shaped, raised green.
On The Green Sand bunkers front and LH Side. Walk off with par and it could be the start of a good round.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway
On The Green Short Par 3. Bunkers left and right. Terrific little green with lots of slope and variations. Miss the tree on left-hand side and this is a hole to score on. Best to be longer than short.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee Another reachable Par 5 with 2 dog legs. Nice wide fairway and a very approachable green.
From The Fairway Take an extra club into the green as there is usually a sea breeze to hold the ball up.
On The Green Stop at the clubhouse for a very cold, refreshing beer. You should be through the first 9 in 2 hours.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee A tricky Par 3 with rainforest and trouble to the left.
From The Fairway Too far left and it’s into the penalty area. There is a small, well-hidden pond to the rear, righthand side of this green.
On The Green Take an extra club as it plays long. Pars are great.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway Par 5 with a welcoming, wide fairway. Don’t hit the ball left off the tee as there is a very reachable dam! Drive down the centre of the fairway, then a 3 wood or recovery to 80 metres out, a short iron in and approach green from the LH Side.
On The Green Large green makes this a favourite with higher handicappers. Big hitters can make this in 2. Penalty area behind the green. When the sugar cane has been cut you can see the palm trees of Newell Beach.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee 383 Metre Par 4, 2nd Rated Men’s hole. Narrow tee shute to a nice wide fairway.
From The Fairway Large row of Eucalyptus & Golden Penda line the RH Side of this fairway. Give them a miss!
On The Green Long left and you are back in the dam on the 11th. A raised green tops off this classic hole.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway A terrific Par 3. Several level tee boxes from which to approach the large sloping green. Left is a no go zone as it makes the approach to the green very tricky.
On The Green A small sand bunker at RH Rear seldom comes into play. Be short of the pin on this hole. This Par 3 is lucky for our ladies, with 4 or 5 hole in one’s in 2021. Might be your turn!
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee The famous Mossman Golf Club AMEN Corner. Many a championship has been decided over the next three holes. There is a magnificent view of The Great Divide from the teeing area.
From The Fairway A reasonable length Par 4 with 2 water courses to carry to make the widest fairway on our course. Avoid the rainforest penalty area that runs the length of the LH side.
On The Green Worse still, is the ball magnet fence down the RH side of the fairway. Rainforest penalty area at the back of the green. A great hole but remember when putting, all balls roll towards the fence. Good Luck.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee A nice short Par 4 Dogleg left. Play smart golf to the corner and hit a short iron in. Avoid Rainforest Left and small bunker to carry in front of the sloped green. Sounds easy but can be deceptive.
From The Fairway
On The Green There is a water causeway 80 metres out from the green, free drop from the concrete, nearest point no closer to the hole. Don’t even think about the water causeway in front of the tee box.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee This is a Par 4 with a dogleg left to right. A small pond at the front of this green stops the big hitters taking on the longish, kidney shaped green.
From The Fairway
On The Green Best to be below the flag as it can be a super quick putt downhill from back to front. Small bunker on RH side of green and out of bounds at back. Hope you enjoy AMEN Corner!
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee Our longest Par 3, 175m metres for the men and 154 for the ladies. Bunker on the LH Side.
From The Fairway A Sugar Cane Train track runs down the RH side of this hole. Reload if you hit right as it’s O-B.
On The Green Give way to trains. With the afternoon breeze this hole can play an extra club longer. Short is better than long.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee A terrific Par 5 which all grades of golfer can reach in regulation and then 2 putt for Par.
From The Fairway It has O-B to the RH side, but this rarely comes into play. Nice wide fairway and a very receptive green. This is the hole which will bring you back, time and time again.
