Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee As you approach the 1st hole you are greeted a tee complex 300 yards and stretches back to 380 yards at the tips. Pick the appropriate tee color or you may have a bad day At first glance #1 appears to be a relatively simple straight away par 4, but don’t let looks deceive you.
From The Fairway This hole typically plays into a prevailing wind that raises havoc with a ball hit with side spin. A good drive will leave you with 140 yards into a green that slopes dramatically from back to front.
On The Green A great approach shot ensures that your ball finishes below the pin for a makeable birdie opportunity.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee From the teeing ground #2 is as pretty a driving hole as you will find in Central Alberta. A new forward teeing ground makes this hole a treat for all levels of golfer.
From The Fairway Large trees and a gaping fairway bunker help guard against anyone trying to cut the corner.
On The Green Most players tend to lay up with a hybrid or fairway wood off the tee but be warned, #2 does not measure overly long on the scorecard however a conservative tee shot can leave you with a mid iron or hybrid in to a tricky green that’s protected by water on the right and heavy rough surrounding the green.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee A slight dog leg left with O-B on the right but a wide flat spacious landing area should set you up well for a fair shot into a large undulated green protected by a bunker tucked in tot he front left of this greens complex.
From The Fairway Put it close or del with the tough put through the surface swales which ca create some great pin placements
On The Green
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee Welcome to this generous tee box complex that embraces each golfer. This hole has been shortened to play from 130 to 205 yards under the new Master Plan and this will help with speed of play issues as well as make a tremendously difficult Par 3 play infinitely more fair.
From The Fairway By no means will this hole be a cakewalk as it is guarded by bunkers on each side of the green and out of bounds on the right.
On The Green
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee Without question you have now arrived at the toughest Par 5 on the golf course. Your tee shot must be deadly accurate as the fairway is narrow and slopes off to each side where you will find mature trees and just enough rough to make your lay-up shot a bit testy.
From The Fairway Your 2nd shot is affected by water on the right and trees on the left.
On The Green Accuracy is a must as your third shot will be to a raised up green that can be one of the quickest putting surfaces on the course. Par is your friend here.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway The toughest Par 4 on the course measuring 448 yards from the tips. A generous fairway welcomes your tee ball however an accurate tee shot that hugs the left side of the fairway will give you the shortest route to the pin and a realistic chance at birdie.
On The Green
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee Olds Golf Clubs signature hole with many options for angle and tee distance depending on the color of tee your playing.
From The Fairway A undulated green protected by water and a steep faced bunker int he front ad a pot bunker to catch long balls in the back.
On The Green A high shot is required to get close to pins on the right side once clearing the bunker. Risk it right or safe play left front either way a spectacular hole.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee Finally a breather . A generous landing area will accept your tee shot leaving you a short to medium iron shot into a large undulating green.
From The Fairway The smart play is to hit your tee shot to the 150 yard marker and play the odds. If you get too aggressive you can quite easily make a mess of what should be a birdie hole.
On The Green
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee What used to be the toughest Par 4 on the course is now a relatively easy Par 5. A generous landing area off the tee encourages you to rip at your tee shot but be careful to not lose the ball to the right in the fescue.
From The Fairway The landing area for your layup can make things a bit dicy with water left and trees right. Go for it in 2 if you wish but your best be accurate or you may regret your decision.
On The Green
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee The 10th hole is a short straightaway Par 4 with no real visible trouble from the tee however this could not be further from the truth.
From The Fairway Fairway bunkers and Out of Bounds protects the left hand side of the fairway and water and fescue takes care of the right.
On The Green Hit driver and take advantage of a short iron approach or be conservative and lay it further back just remember that whatever you do you must hit a good approach into this tricky small or or Par will be the best you can expect.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole doesn’t measure tremendously long at between 315 to 428 yards but it typically plays into the prevailing wind.
From The Fairway Out of bounds to the left and a devilish fairway bunker add tension to your tee shot.
On The Green The position of the pin placement will determine just how aggressive your approach shot can be on this hole.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee Newly redesigned replacing a very unfair hole the new 12th while it isn't any easier is much more fair. A large landing area guarded by water long and to the left a well as large fairway bunker will reward you with a pretty shot into a green protected by water and sand.
From The Fairway The putting surface is undulated and creates a great finish to this new hole with Purple Martins flying around and a bridge to frame in the hole. Easily now our nicest par 4
On The Green
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee A favorite Par 3 as its length scares no one however like most of the course looks can be deceiving.
From The Fairway Pin position here will dictate the level to which you should attack this hole.
On The Green A missed shot short here is typically a simpler up and down from behind the green where you will find large grass bunkers and deep rough, but careful of the new bunker on the left side of this resized putting surface. Start your birdie run here.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee This is a dogleg left par 5 where you will see the reworking of the tees to the dramatic effect of the water which surrounds them.
From The Fairway If the wind is favorable, hit your driver as hard as you can and you may be able to reach this bad boy in 2, however, if there is a breeze in your face don’t forget that there is water on your right that will gobble up many an errant tee shot.
On The Green Your approach shot will be into the 2nd largest green on the course with a new large bunker on the left side to catch balls likely going into the OB area. Make sure you know your yardage as a short approach will leave you putting forever.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee A dogleg right that if you’re not careful will jump up and destroy many a great round. Out of bounds left and a fairway bunker to the right make this tee shot a little scary, however it’s the green that makes this hole what it is.
From The Fairway
On The Green The largest green on the course will cause fits depending on the pin position. Watch out for bunker on the right side of the green. Definitely one of the few birdie holes on the course if you hit a good tee shot.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee As close to an island green as you will find in Alberta. With water hazard almost circling the entire green you best not miss your tee shot.
From The Fairway Much like #17 at Sawgrass, Hole #16 requires you to flight your golf ball and control your distance if you want to have a chance to birdie this little gem of a Par 3.
On The Green
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee The best chance at birdie comes if you can place your tee shot as close to the water hazard that crosses the fairway as possible.
From The Fairway This will leave you a short iron into a green that slopes aggressively from back to front. Uphill putts are your best bet at all times on this hole.
On The Green
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway A 3 shot par 5 that gives you a breather on the first 2 shots but makes you sweat on your approach.
On The Green A small, heavily sloped green protected by a deep greenside bunker make par here a great score.
