Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee The opening hole gives you a good look at the terrain you will encounter during the majority of your round at Pine Hills.
From The Fairway A tee shot down the right side of the fairway could give you some extra yardage if you can carry the hill.
On The Green The green is dissected into two halves, front and back, with a ridge running across the green which rewards good distance control.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee From a slightly elevated tee box, the 2nd hole plays back towards the clubhouse.
From The Fairway
On The Green The green is guarded by a number of deep bunkers which can grab any errant shot towards this green. One of the more difficult greens on Pine Hills places a premium on ball position with your approach.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee The 3rd hole is a three-shot par 5 where only the longest of players have a chance to get home in two.
From The Fairway
On The Green The slight dogleg to the left plays uphill to an elevated green with a bunker in front of and two bunkers behind the green for protection. The green slopes down to the front-right of the green.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee The 4th hole is generally considered the most difficult par 4 on the course.
From The Fairway With a slight dogleg to the left, the best positioned drive is on the right center of the fairway to give you a full view of the green while avoiding the water hazard.
On The Green A long iron or wood is usually required to hit the green which slopes from back to front. The elevated green is protected by a bunker on the left side and steep drop-offs around the remainder of the green.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee The first par 3 on the course is also considered the most challenging by many players.
From The Fairway
On The Green The hole plays uphill to one of the largest greens on the course. The false-front is certain to leave many golfers with an uphill pitch back onto the green for balls hit short. Again, there are steep drop-offs on both sides of this green with bunkers guarding the left side.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee The sixth hole was redesigned in 2006 to add length to the course.
From The Fairway A well struck drive down the right center of the fairway should give you a chance to hit this green in two. The bunker short and left of the green guards against rolling the ball onto this green with your second shot and any shot long of this green could find the hazard.
On The Green The green slopes from left to right with a ridge dividing the front and back halves of the green to add to you challenge.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee Very few par 3’s place a premium on accuracy like the 7th hole.
From The Fairway
On The Green The green slopes from back to front and is guarded by deep bunkers on either side of the green. We are still waiting for the first hole-in-one from the blue tees on this hole which plays over 200 yards from an elevated tee box. Good Luck!
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee The view from the elevated tee boxes on the 8th hole is one of the most photographed areas of the course as the Pigeon River frames the left side of this hole and the Clubhouse looms in the background.
From The Fairway
On The Green This green is divided by a ridge from left to right meaning distance control is once again at a premium with your approach. The green is guarded by bunkers to the left and right with the Pigeon River crossing in front of this green.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee The final par 3 on the front side is likely to settle many wagers.
From The Fairway
On The Green Your tee shot is played over a hazard to a green that generally slopes from back to front. Bunkers guard this green on both sides, while the over-hanging Maple tends to re-direct shots hit to the right of this green. If this pin is on the back of this green, make sure to take enough club to land on the back shelf of this green otherwise you are likely to end the front side with a 3-putt.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee The back 9 starts off with a demanding tee shot from the elevated tee box of the 10th
From The Fairway hole over the Pigeon River to the fairway below. The river comes into play on down the left side of the hole and your approach shot is uphill to a green surrounded by bunkers to the left and right.
On The Green The green slopes from right to left with a small valley in the center of the green separating the front and back halves of the green.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee The 11th hole is another true three-shot par 5 where only the best drives have enough to carry the crest of the hill. The hole is a slight dog-leg left with woods coming into play down the entire right side of the hole.
From The Fairway
On The Green This green slopes from back to front leaving a nearly impossible chip for balls hit long of this green. (Clay I said nearly impossible!)
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee The 12th hole is a short par 5 which features the only fairway bunkers on the course. What the hole lacks in distance it makes up for in the accuracy required off the tee and in your approach to the green.
From The Fairway
On The Green This green is flanked by the deepest bunkers on the course and the entire green is crowned making the center pin position the most difficult on the green.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee The 13th hole is the only hole on the golf course without a bunker.
From The Fairway The fairway is visually narrowed from the tee by mature trees lining both sides of the fairway.
On The Green The hole plays uphill to a green with a false-front which leaves many players chipping their way onto this green. Don’t be left with your approach as another steep drop-off will make getting up and down very challenging.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee The shortest of the par 3’s again places a premium on an accurate tee shot.
From The Fairway Wind is often a major factor from this elevated tee box when hitting to a well bunkered green.
On The Green While most of the green slopes from back to front, numerous undulations make this green one of the most difficult to read on the course.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee The tee shot on the 15th hole should be played to the left side of
From The Fairway the fairway to avoid the small creek which extends from the corner of the woods down the right side of the hole.
On The Green The green has a slight false front which can funnel balls to a valley short-right of the green. Bunkers surround this undulating green making par a good score for any ball that finds this green.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee The final par 3 on the course plays uphill to a green once again flanked by bunkers on 3 sides. While a recent addition added some new pin positions to this green,
From The Fairway
On The Green you are still faced with the smallest green on the course which slopes from back to front. Any shot landing above the hole on this green should be happy with par at best.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee The 17th hole is the definition of risk and reward. A long drive down the right side could potentially carry the Pigeon River leaving just a wedge for your approach. The more conservative play is to the left, leaving yourself with a mid-iron for your approach.
From The Fairway
On The Green The green was recently expanded to be one of the largest greens on the course. Make sure you control your distance or you could be left with a very…very long putt.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee The final hole at Pine Hills is a 90 degree dog-leg to
From The Fairway the left with mature trees lining both sides of the fairway. Aim for the 150 yard marker to make sure you clear the corner of the dogleg and have a clear view of this green which slopes from back to front.
On The Green A bunker left of the green could catch errant shots on your approach and a run-off area on the right makes certain that only the best approach shots stay on the green.
