Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 5, 514 Yards. We wanted to restore the hole to the original Willie Park, Jr. design and that meant restoring the Willie
From The Fairway Park, Jr. bunker on the right side of the fairway. The goal was to make the approach more challenging and put some shotmaking thought into the hole
On The Green A cool characteristic of the hole now is that the false front has become more exaggerated. None of the greens were changed during renovation but over time the front of the first green has become much more severe than it used to be.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 4, 355 Yards. The shortest par 4 on the golf course.
From The Fairway One of the themes of the restoration project, because we are landlocked, was to build in length by taking the driver out
On The Green of the golfer's hands. Great pin locations in the front right corner and back left corner of the green.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 4, 392 Yards. The O-Bject was to enhance the dogleg.
From The Fairway The front pin is really difficult and you don't want to hit it long - there
On The Green a six foot drop off the back of the green. Your miss on this hole is short. Miss it long and you're dead.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 3, 190 Yards. There are a lot of subtle breaks
From The Fairway on this green and the most difficult hole position is the back left corner. The greenside bunkers are deep and rough has been extended across the fairway to give the impression of another tier.
On The Green
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 5, 582 Yards. Bryan Nelson hit driver /1 - iron to this very long par 5.
From The Fairway The two fairway bunkers were staggered to give the appearance from the tee of more movement in the fairway
On The Green The downrange bunker on the right is new. The greenside bunkering did not change.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 3, 231 Yards. The Willie Park, Jr. signature was a long par 3 somewhere on the golf course
From The Fairway We were very careful not to change this hole. Other examples of Park's
On The Green long par-3 holes are the 11th at Meadowbrook Country Club and the 10th at Flint Golf Club.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 4, 423 Yards. The fairway bunkering was changed.
From The Fairway The bunker on the right side of the fairway is much bigger and requires a carry of 280-285 yards. There is a small bunker out in the distance that serves as an aiming/directional bunker.
On The Green It is 300 yards from the tee to the front edge. It's the only green on the golf course where it's OK to be beyond the pin.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 3, 178 Yards. An island in the middle of the pond had become an eyesore and was dominating the water hazard.
From The Fairway was removed, as were the railroad ties. A new championship tee was built, adding 15-to-17 yards.
On The Green The hole can be stretched to nearly 200 yards with a back tee and a back pin. The bunkering was not altered.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 5, 537 Yards. The entire bunkering concept was designed in a way that the tree down
From The Fairway the fairway on the left was to be removed. Once the three trees on the left were removed, the original Willie Park bunker was restored in the driving
On The Green area as well as in the lay-up zone. It's an awesome green, simple on the front left and awesome on the front right.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 4, 376 Yards. The green complex on this hole underwent a major change somewhere in the 1950's. Until then, it
From The Fairway was a flat green with two shallow bunkers in front. Today, it is a tri-level green. Also gone from the original design are the crossing bunkers 75 yards short of the putting surface.
On The Green When the pin is back left or back right, the hole becomes a half-stroke more difficult statistically. The bunker on the right was pushed farther down the fairway. The bunkering is designed to provide splashes of white. There is an illusion of a shrinking fairway but it's still the same width.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 3, 167 Yards. The great bunkering on this par 3 can be intimidating, especially the large bunker in front.
From The Fairway The bunkers on the back and side are all sloped toward the green.
On The Green The green is fairly simple, with an interesting nose on the front side which is not often used for a hole position.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 4, 413 Yards. The front bunkers were restored to pinch the opening.
From The Fairway There is a false front on the left. A second fairway bunker was added on the right side.
On The Green
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 5, 545 Yards. There is a new target bunker down the right side at 325 yards.
From The Fairway The triple-tiered green is spectacular. So much can be done. A hole cut front or right is relatively easy.
On The Green Anything on the middle shelf is a daunting task.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 4, 414 Yards. The only hole at Red Run without a fairway bunker.
From The Fairway The trees on the left and the slope of the fairway define the drive.
On The Green The slope favors those who are successful in cutting the corner of the dogleg. Beautiful panoramic view from the tee of the entire hole.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 4, 366 Yards. The water hazard in front of the green was expanded in 1983.
From The Fairway This is a fairly flat green with bumps in it. The best pins are on the right side which brings the water into play.
On The Green
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 4, 372 Yards. A fun hole. There is a very generous layup area off the tee
From The Fairway If the pin is tucked anywhere in front, there's plenty of slope to contend with.
On The Green There's a pot bunker in back and the greenside bunkers were deepened.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 3, 181 Yards. About 40 yards short of the green,
From The Fairway the rough has been extended across the fairway to give the impression of a second tier. Miss it left and the ball is in the 'Valley of 5's.'
On The Green This is a great green with a ridge running right down the middle.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee Par 5, 549 Yards. What you see is what you get. The bunker comes into play off the tee.
From The Fairway The 'go' range for top players is the 220-yard marker. It is a penal green to miss. Miss it short and the ball comes back down the fairway.
On The Green The green slopes severely to the front. The front was built up 12 inches and pitched back to be able to access a front pin. Until that time, the pin had to be middle or back.
