Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee This short dogleg right can play even shorter by cutting the corner.
From The Fairway A drive of 270 yards would clear the left corner of the fairway bunker and would run down the slope to a level lie within 100 yards of the green. The fairway is twice as wide past the fairway bunker, which makes it a low risk play. Be careful not to miss your drive left or you will run out of room at 280 yards on a line at the left edge of the fairway bunker.
On The Green The putting green is well guarded by two bunkers and it is necessary to stay below the pin with your approach shot or a possible three putt is likely.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole is straightforward and plays slightly uphill.
From The Fairway The fairway bunker on the right starts at 245 yards from the tee and requires a drive of 280 yards to clear this bunker.
On The Green That drive of 280 yards would leave an approach of 140 yards (plays 150 yards). A drive along the left edge of the fairway will kick to the right, into the center of the fairway. The approach shot will play a full club uphill. A shot to the middle of the putting green will kick right and if the greens are soft, it will spin back to the front right section of the putting green.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee This dogleg right is protected by three bunkers at the inside corner.
From The Fairway The fairway ends at 323 yards straight out leaving an approach shot of approximately 150 yards. To cut the corner, a player must fly the ball 300 yards to carry the bunkers. If successful, the player will only have an approach shot of 120 yards or less depending on how much of the dogleg they cut off.
On The Green The putting green is guarded by a large bunker and is difficult to hold with a long iron or wood. This makes challenging the fairway bunkers to shorten your approach shot to the green very important.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee A long par 3 over water to a very difficult green.
From The Fairway The hole location is critical to the strategy of playing the hole. A front right hole location is the easiest to attack at 190 yards, but a miss long will leave you with a severe down hill bunker shot. The front left hole location is the toughest in that you cannot miss it left, long or short left.
On The Green The front left hole location is a very small target from 200 yards, so the play is towards the center of the green. The back hole location sits up on a shelf and is very accessible but players need to be careful not to short side themselves.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee A dogleg right that is reachable in two with an accurate drive and a low risk second shot.
From The Fairway The fairway ends at 250 yards straight out (left of the fairway bunker). A drive of 265 yards will clear the bunker guarding the corner. On the line over the center of the bunker, the fairway runs out at 290 yards. A drive over 290 yards will need to be right of the fairway bunker to hit the fairway. There is plenty of fairway past the bunker but a blind water hazard right of the fairway about 275
On The Green A good drive will leave a relatively easy uphill approach between 200 and 240 yards to a large elevated putting green well protected by two bunkers front and left.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee A slight dogleg right protected by three elevated bunkers on the inside corner of the dogleg.
From The Fairway The fairway ends at 300 yards straight out. A drive of 290 yards would leave an approach shot of approximately 140 yards. A drive over 300 yards straight out would block you from a clear shot to the green. A drive of 300 yards or more at the corner bunker would clear the bunker and leave you an approach of 110 yards or less.
On The Green The putting green had three distinct bays and is relatively flat in the front and back left bays. The back right bay is deceptively fast going right to left.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway This slight dogleg left begs you to hit your drive down the right side of the fairway.
On The Green The right side of the fairway kicks your ball to the center of the fairway. The fairway bunker pinches in at the corner at 290 yards out. At that point the fairway narrows to about 25 yards wide and would leave an approach of 135 yards. The back of the putting green is very narrow and makes it risky to get too aggressive attacking a back pin location. The front of the green slopes right to left to
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee A fairly straight hole that plays slightly downhill off the tee
From The Fairway and then plays quite uphill for approach shots from 260 yards out to 120 yards out. The landing area for the drive is narrowest at 325 yards. At that point, a second shot to the elevated fairway left of the fairway bunker would require a shot of at least 160 yards to get a good view of the green and an approach of 100 yards.
On The Green For a player going for the green in two after a drive of 325 yards, he would need to carry his second shot at least 220 yards to carry the fairway bunker. The putting green is open in front to allow a shot to roll on.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee This downhill par 3 has a large peninsula putting green that juts out into Lake Manassas.
From The Fairway
On The Green This shot plays a full club less downhill. The tee is blocked from feeling most wind directions, so watch Lake Manassas to assist you in determining the wind. The back shelf of this green is very shallow and a shot of 190 yards or more that misses the green to the left, right or over will prO-Bably find the water. The center of this green is always a good place to be.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole can be played as a short two-shot hole (dogleg left) or a reachable par 4 from the forward tees.
From The Fairway From the back tee, a fairway bunker guards the dogleg on the left. A lay-up off the tee of 240 yards would stay short of the fairway bunker with a wider landing area, leaving the player with an approach shot of about 140 yards. To drive the ball over the bunker from the back tee would require a drive of 280 yards. At the bunker, the fairway is only 18 yards wide (255 yards from the back tee).
On The Green Past the bunker, the fairway sweeps left and widens to 50 yards from 280 yards to 300 yards, leaving a pitch of less than 100 yards. The putting green has two distinctive tiers. The shallow upper tier in the back of the green is very difficult to access with a short iron or wedge.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee This par 3 plays a club downhill, to a peninsula green with water short, left and over.
From The Fairway
On The Green There is a steep faced slope that runs 30 feet off the front and left side down to Lake Manassas. The pot bunker short is the only thing that will keep a ball out of the water on a shot that does not reach the green. The wind swirls on the tee so use the waves in Lake Manassas to assist in choosing the correct club.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway Handicap 10 This is the shortest par 5 on the golf course. It is definitely a two-shot hole and has no fairway bunkers.
On The Green The only question is what to hit off the tee. There are two sets of tee’s on this hole; the original tee is along the water, playing 505 yards, slightly down hill and right to left. The new tee is fifty yards up the hill to the right, it plays 525 yards and plays straight down the hill. The fairway narrows in the landing area at 265 yards from the left tee and 285 yards from the right tee. Just pa
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee A solid drive is important to set up the best approach to this undulating green.
From The Fairway The fairway drops off at 310 yards from the tee.
On The Green The swale will take the ball into the left rough where you must take your chances with the lie, but you will have a level lie from 140 yards. A drive of 300 yards will keep you on top of the ridge, looking slightly down on the green from 165 yards. The approach shot will play almost a full club downhill and you do not want to go over this green. The back right of this putting green is elevated and
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee Depending on where the tee is and what the wind is doing, this is great risk/reward dogleg left over water.
From The Fairway From the back tee, a 300 yard drive along the left edge of the fairway would skirt the fairway bunker guarding the corner and would leave a 260 yard approach shot. If playing from the next tee box up (540 yards), a drive of 280 yards will clear the center of the bunker complex and would leave the player with a 220 yard shot to the green.
On The Green This is a split-level green with the left side sitting just over a pond. The right side is about 6 feet higher with the ridge running diagonally through the center, acting as a backboard to the lower left side of the putting green. This is another green that you do not want to be over. The downhill pitch toward the pond is treacherous.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee A slight dogleg left that plays slightly down hill as well.
From The Fairway A drive straight down the fairway will run up into the rough at 300 yards, which would give you a tough rough lie with the ball well above your feet from approximately 175 yards.
On The Green The corner fairway bunker juts out at 280 yards from the tee, at this point the fairway is 30 yards wide and the green in 170 yards away. To carry the bunker complex, a drive of 305 yards or more on a line over the center of the fairway bunker would leave the best angle to the putting green. The fairway does widen to 40 yards past the bunker complex. This will leave an approach of 140 yards or les
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee This hole plays almost a full club downhill. It is usually hard to feel any wind from the tee.
From The Fairway
On The Green The waves on Lake Manassas will assist you in reading the wind direction. The two toughest hole locations are front left and back left since those sections of the putting green are quite small targets. Hitting into the wrong bay on this large and undulating putting green makes for a very difficult two putt.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee This short par 4 requires an accurate tee shot.
From The Fairway A 250 yard tee shot leaves the player with the best view of the green and the most level lie from 130 yards. The fairway narrows to 25 yards at that point. A more aggressive play from the tee would require a drive over 280 yards down the left side of the fairway, over two fairway bunkers to avoid a walnut tree that sits 70 yards
On The Green from the green on the right. This small three-lO-Be putting green requires an accurate short iron to be in the correct area of the green. Going over this green with your approach shot will result in an almost certain bogey.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee A drive of 265 yards will reach the first fairway bunker on the left.
From The Fairway A drive of 310 yards would carry the second bunker on the left and would give the player the best angle to this green from less than 140 yards. A drive into the right rough may kick back into the fairway, but if the rough is thick (which it usually is) it will leave you with a difficult lie with the ball well above your feet. The green sits slightly downhill from the fairway but does not play down
On The Green The putting green is on the shore of Lake Manassas, only a few yards from the water. You don’t want to go left with your approach shot as the only protection from the water is a very narrow bunker.
