Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee The lovely opening hole offers a relatively gentle introduction to the course.
From The Fairway A generous fairway makes the tee shot fairly straightforward. Longer hitters will want to take less club or stick to the left hand side of the fairway to avoid a bunker on the right.
On The Green The green is arched, with a raised, centrally located, table-top section.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee This is a strong, double dog-leg par five that requires a sound strategy.
From The Fairway Longer hitters will need to favour the left side of the fairway to avoid being blocked by the trees on the right of the fairway.
On The Green The second shot needs to avoid both a centrally located bunker and, beyond, the challenging cross-bunkers placed forward of, and at an angle to, the green. Finally, good distance control is needed on the approach to the green to ensure that the shot lands on the right level of the two-tiered and sharply sloping green.
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee The kidney-shaped green requires hitting to the correct area,
From The Fairway particularly with the bunker front and centre and the prevailing wind coming out of the north-west.
On The Green The hole also plays markedly differently depending on whether the hole is cut on the left or right side of the green.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee This par five is a significant challenge from tee to green.
From The Fairway From the tee, the fairway splits in two, either side of a meandering stream. The golfer has the choice of carrying the stream and avoiding a well-placed bunker on the left or taking the shorter option to the right hand fairway, a decision that might be influenced by the wind direction. Over the stream, the fairway cambers towards a lake –
On The Green the largest water feature on the course – and narrows dramatically as it gets closer to the green. The sloping, wide but narrow green sits nearly at right angles to the line of play, making hitting the green with a long approach a tricky proposition. Positioning your second shot to the left hand side of the fairway, just short of the second fairway bunker, provides the safest approach to the green
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee This par four starts and finishes on the eastern side of the stream
From The Fairway but the entire fairway is on the western side of the stream. Although the fairway is generous, it is best to hug the right hand side in order to gain the best angle into the green.
On The Green The stream is in play for both tee and approach shots. Approach shots are extremely difficult as the green is long and narrow and being slightly raised it deflects off-line shots away from the putting surface. This also makes recovery shots very challenging. Although the hole is not especially long from the mid-tees, golfers often lay up to avoid making more than five. This is deservedly stroke ho
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee This moderate-length par four requires an accurate tee shot
From The Fairway because it is easy to finish in the trees on either side of the fairway. The fairway cambers to the right anyway so most approach shots are hit from that side.
On The Green The markedly undulating green is protected by mounds at the entrance to the green and two bunkers to its right.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee This delightful hole dog-legs right to an elevated green. There are two key aspects to playing the hole.
From The Fairway The tee shot must land in the left half of the fairway, which slopes from left to right, to avoid the second shot being blocked by trees.
On The Green A well struck tee shot with a following wind can also find the creek at the end of the fairway. The green and its surrounds are shaped to receive (or repel) shots from the fairway, so any shot slightly short will be deflected short of the green, but the fairway to the right of the green can be used to bounce shots onto the green. A small hog’s back towards the rear of the green adds a challenge to
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee This beautiful hole is the shortest on the course.
From The Fairway The green, which slopes from left to right, is guarded by a creek to the front and right hand side and a bunker short and left.
On The Green Tee shots must be precise not only to hold the green, but to land in the correct area. Barely visible from the tee is a deep swale on the right-hand side of the green that can affect tee shots and putts alike.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee This longish, straight away par four requires a well-placed drive to
From The Fairway avoid a large bunker situated to gO-Bble up shots that drift left. Longer hitters will also find themselves blocked by mature trees if they go too far right. Beyond the bunker is a small gully that runs across the fairway about 120 metres from the green. Balls often end up in this area, particularly during summer.
On The Green The second shot requires care because the elevated green, which has no bunkers, is cut in half by a deep swale that can throw both approach shots and putts off-line. Avoid going long or left because the recovery is difficult.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee This par 5 is another hole that requires a sound strategy.
From The Fairway A ‘burn’ runs alongside much of the left hand side of the fairway and although it is dry most of the year and is not a hazard, it should be avoided. Depending on the length of drive,
On The Green the golfer has a choice of trying to get on or near the green with the second shot, or laying up before the bunker on the right hand side, about 60 metres before the green. The fairway also narrows dramatically near the green, which is guarded by bunkers on either side. The green is relatively straightforward, bar a large ‘thumbprint’ in its front left-hand corner.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee This mid-length par three plays into a beautiful and well established part of the course.
From The Fairway
On The Green The green is guarded by bunkers on its left, so, depending on the pin position, a well struck shot aimed at the middle of the green is ideal.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee The key to this difficult par four is the drive.
From The Fairway The fairway narrows dramatically at one point before opening out again. A drive that hugs the left will leave the golfer with a much more achievable second shot because the green is aligned 45 degrees to the fairway. The challenge is enhanced by the single bunker that runs the length of the right side of the narrow green.
On The Green A lone bunker on the left side of the green will attract some over hit shots, but might also save others from bounding into the stream beyond. The back section of the green slopes gently away, so requires some finesse to negotiate.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee This dog-leg right par four has a reasonably sized bunker on the right,
From The Fairway which forces drives to the left. The fairway runs into a pronounced dip short of the green.
On The Green Broad at its entrance and narrower at the back, the green is defined by a thumbprint at the front and small shoulders that run into the putting surface. These make judging pace and borrow crucial. This green has arguably the finest backdrop – a stand of mature native trees – of any on the course.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee This par four is enticingly short.
From The Fairway The green can be taken on downwind, although the right hand side of the fairway is guarded by a bunker and, further right, by a long and wide hazard that is sometimes possible to play out of.
On The Green There is another bunker just short and on the left hand side of the green. For those playing it in two shots, the challenge mostly lies in the approach, which must avoid the bunkers (both left and right) and finish on the correct level. The distinctive facet of the green’s design is the small bowl formed in the middle, which adds more complexity to the putting surface.

Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee The tee shot is all important on this slightly uphill par three;
From The Fairway the green is long and the middle section is not used for pin positions, so distance control is essential.
On The Green The green is guarded by bunkers on the left, the first of which is not generally in play but has a pronounced visual impact. The multi-faceted, sloping surface requires some skill in negotiating its quirks. For added difficulty, the hole often plays into the wind.
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee This short par four is highlighted by the chute of trees that players off the back tees have to negotiate.
From The Fairway On the whole, left is better as it opens up the hole, particularly if the pin is cut near the back of what is a very long green, while a fairway bunker on the right is very drivable.
On The Green The front part of the green is bowl-shaped and receptive, but the back tier, guarded by a bunker on the right, challenges shot making.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee The last par five is a straight away hole, with the club house visible above the green.
From The Fairway From the tee the bunkering (two sets about 60 metres apart) is located on the left. There is another bunker in the right-centre of the fairway about 70 metres before the green. Beyond that, in front of the green, is a hollow. The key to the hole is getting the approach to the green in the right position.
On The Green The green, the largest on the course at 800 square metres, offers a great many hole locations, nearly all of which are made more challenging by the numerous undulations and tricky slopes. The elevated back two-thirds of the green slopes from left to right.
