Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee Number 1 is a short, par-4 dogleg to the right measuring 366 Yards from the 1 Tees.
From The Fairway There is a menacing bunker on the right side of the fairway in the landing area and a grove of trees guards the corner.
On The Green The best angle to approach the green is from the left center of the fairway. The green is long, narrow, and well guarded by bunkers short right and long left.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole 2 is the Grand Daddy of them all! Measuring 600 yards from the tips, this mammoth par-5 has a strategically placed fairway bunker that cuts 30 feet into the fairway on the right side.
From The Fairway If you can keep your drive out of the fairway bunker, you’ll be left with over 250 yards left, and a decision to make.
On The Green If you choose to lay up, you’ll need to land the ball in a narrow 90 foot wide landing zone between a massive bunker on the left and water on the right. If you go for the green in two, you face one of the course’s signature Jackson Kahn bunkers directly in front of the green; an undulating mix of tall rough grass mounds and sand. To make matters worse, there is a bunker greenside right, and water
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole 3 lies in the middle of Shadow Ridge’s most entertaining three hole stretches and it just might be the best par 3 on the course.
From The Fairway
On The Green At 175 yards from the 1 tees, this hole plays deceivingly long and requires a well struck iron to carry the lake and bunkers in front of the green.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole 4’s defining features combine a 75 yard long bunker up the left side and an elevated green with a false front that has gotten the better of many golfers.
From The Fairway An additional bunker cutting into the right side of the fairway requires golfers to lay back off the tee, leaving a precarious approach to a shallow green that runs front to back. DO NOT leave your approach short!
On The Green
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee The recent renovations by renowned course architects Tim Jackson and David Kahn have dramatically improved the playability of every hole at Shadow Ridge and none more so than Hole 5.
From The Fairway
On The Green This beautiful dogleg left has water on the left and sand on the right, requiring a precise tee shot to stay out of trouble. And a newly constructed bunker short left in front of the green along with water left and back, and a large bent grass swale to the right and behind, frame the hole beautifully.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee From the 1 Tees this gentle dogleg left is just over 400 yards. Well guarded by trees up the left side,
From The Fairway your tee shot must favor the right center of the fairway to give you the best approach shot.
On The Green This slightly elevated green is guarded by one of the course’s most dramatic bunkers on the right side; a quintessential Jackson Kahn Design bunker that is as aesthetically stunning as it is difficult to get up and down from.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee This long par 5 starts with a spectacular downhill tee shot, framed by a thick grove of trees on the right and native grass fields to the left.
From The Fairway In the center of the fairway is a small pot bunker that is deceptively easy to find yourself in. The safe tee shot is down the right side of the fairway but if you are able to carry the left edge of the bunker, an aggressive drive up the left side can set you up for getting home in two.
On The Green
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee The most improved par 3 following the recent course renovation and redesign, this long par 3 is surrounded by some of the most intimidating bunkers on the course, making the largest putting surface at Shadow Ridge seem deceivingly small.
From The Fairway
On The Green Playing upwards of 230 yards from the tips, golfer are often forced to hit a long iron or utility club to reach this putting surface. And at 140 feet long and 75 feet wide, two-putting this green is anything but guaranteed.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee A signature hole at Shadow Ridge as you play into the clubhouse, the 9th hole plays long and straight.
From The Fairway A well struck drive down the middle can carry the ridge in the fairway and leave you with a reasonable approach and a beautiful view of the clubhouse and Terrace bar from which you might hear some cheering for a well placed approach or made putt.
On The Green The 9th green is guarded by a massive bunker front left, and two small bunkers behind the green; the only two greenside bunkers on the entire course not visible from your approach shot.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway This is a fairly easy hole to start the back nine with a generous fairway that narrows severely at about 260 yards from the back tee. Be careful! The creek on the right can easily come into play with a south wind. The tee shot should be played to the left side of the fairway, but short of the fairway bunker.
On The Green The approach shot is played to the largest green on the course, but a back right pin placement may bring the water precariously close.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee This is a long, downhill par-4, played most often into the prevailing south wind.
From The Fairway
On The Green Your tee shot is played to the crest of the hill The main feature of the hole is a spectacular downhill second shot to a large green with the lake wrapping around to the right and back of the green.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee This is the second shortest of the par-5’s. After a well hit drive, you will be playing the odds on your second shot.
From The Fairway
On The Green Trouble on the tee shot arises from two well placed bunkers on the right. The small green is protected by the creek in front.
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee This picturesque par 3 measuring 156 yards from the back tees. The creek in front has been widened and can swallow a mis-hit shot to a front pin placement and the green is guarded by bunkers on the front left and right sides.
From The Fairway
On The Green The bunker in the middle of the green is surrounded by bent grass to allow for golfers to putt between any two points on the green using the contours of the bunker complex.
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee It is decision time when you stand on this tee. With the prevailing south wind, a driver here can get you home.
From The Fairway A calculating gambler might opt for an iron off the tee since the fairway narrows severely, with water to the right and bunkers to the left.
On The Green
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee It is a long, long way to Tiparary, and it may be even longer to the 15th green at Shadow Ridge. This hole is 454 yards from the double diamond black tees, uphill, and into the prevailing wind.
From The Fairway
On The Green It is not over when you get to this tricky little green. Take solace in the fact there are no bunkers on this hole!
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee This moderate length, par-5 can change drastically, depending on the wind direction. With the prevailing south wind, it is reachable in two. With a north wind, the elevated tee can make the drive a harrowing experience.
From The Fairway There is hidden water lurking to the right on the tee shot and second shot. The second shot is partially blind, with only the top half of the flag being visible over the two fairway bunkers on the left.
On The Green
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee Hole 17 Green Complex was rebuilt in 2017, adding dramatic undulation to the green and bringing the entire putting surface closer to the water.
From The Fairway
On The Green Bent grass flashes up onto the hill behind the green allowing for long shots to feed back onto the putting surface and a large bunker protects the front side of the hole.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee The fairway on this moderate length, par-4 is defined by the fairly deep bunker on the right, and the grove of ash trees on the left. .
From The Fairway Hitting the fairway will be the key here, as any player in the rough will prO-Bably have to lay up left of the water
