From The Fairway “A strong hole completes the front 9. It plays as a Par 5 from the white tees and a Par 4 from the yellows. The fairway narrows to only 10 yards wide between the dunes and nearly all golfers will have a long second, and potentially third, in to this green.”

For those venturing on, the 10th is a good Par 3 that varies in length quite considerably depending on which tee is being used. The green is relatively flat but the right hand bunker can prove testing.”

From The Tee “The Par 4 11th offers two lines of attack. The lower tee is located to the right of the hole, with the upper tee located to the left. Both offer a stern test for any golfer but the upper tee creates quite the challenge with a cross wind. The second shot is played between two dunes to a forgiving green, once you get there.”

From The Tee “Home to the famous Gumbley bunker, the 16th is possibly the signature hole of Southport & Ainsdale. A Par 5 that will challenge all golfers, begins with a relatively straight forward tee shot. The second, however, is a different story as you must navigate your way over Gumbleys with no sight of the fairway. Once completed you will find a challenging green complex that demands accuracy if a birdie

This long Par 4 is protected by heather on the left, out of bounds on the right and is generally played in to the prevailing wind. The opening to the green is narrow with bunkers protecting both the right and the left. Save one of your strokes for this hole!”

From The Fairway “The 18th is short Par 4 that will hopefully remove any bad feeling the previous 2 holes created. Sweeping to the left from the tee, the undulating fairway and approachable green, will remind you of what a joy links golf can be. Be sure to aim far enough left from the tee and you will be rewarded with a pleasant and relaxing walk to the bar.”
