Hole 1
Hole Name Down the Wood
From The Tee The hole slopes downwards from tee to green. The green itself is hidden from the tee box and can play anything from a 9 iron to a Driver.
From The Fairway The green is deceiving and can catch many a golfer out, the green slopes away from you toward the woodland.
On The Green
Hole 2
Hole Name The Dogleg
From The Tee Playing into the prevailing wind and uphill all the way to the green a par is a real challenge.
From The Fairway A good drive is required to avoid the out of bounds on the right and the trees to the left. A long second shot awaits you which needs to carry a steep slope up to the green, dense foliage on the right and some awkwardly placed shrubbery on the left.
On The Green If you can’t reach the green leave yourself a full shot, or bail out to the right and you have better access to the pin.
Hole 3
Hole Name The Picture
From The Tee Look west for spectacular view of Plynlimon and the hills of Mid Wales. Turn around and a daunting tee short faces you.
From The Fairway Internal out of bound posts attract your attention on the left, and a forest of Pine trees will block your second shot if you bail out to the right. Aim at the fairway bunker and hit it straight will leave you a short iron into the green.
On The Green Guarded by a bunker on the right, the shallow green requires an accurate approach to the heart of the green. Short on your approach will run back towards you and leave a tricky third.
Hole 4
Hole Name The old First
From The Tee Another long Par 3 requires a good shot to carry the two bunkers protecting the green. Check the position of the flag to leave yourself an uphill put to the pin.
From The Fairway
On The Green
Hole 5
Hole Name Penrhallt
From The Tee With the Penrhallt wood behind you and on your left you are faced with a blind tee shot into a basin the tilts right to left.
From The Fairway The ideal shot is a lay up to the Chairman’s plateau which leaves a mid-iron into the back to front sloping green. Danger waits for long hitters who can run into the undergrowth on the left, or row of tall pines on the right.
On The Green Judging the distance on the second shot is key to a good score on this hole, although once aboard the green your problems could have just become. A subtle ridge runs down the already sloping back to front and right to left green.
Hole 6
Hole Name The Short Hole
From The Tee Only measuring 300 yards a good tee shot is required to negoiate between the two bunkers facing you of the tee.
From The Fairway The direct route to the green is protected by high pine trees which swallow well struck shots. Bail to the left and a collection of trees will draw your ball and leave an impossible shot to the green.
On The Green The green is protected at the front by a severe down slope, and bunker on the right. The key to the second shot is judging the landing. Too Short and it will hit the downslope and run through the green. Birdies are plentiful, but so are double bogey’s.
Hole 7
Hole Name The New Hole
From The Tee The green is protected by the Captain’s bunker on the left, and another unforgiving trap on the right.
From The Fairway Right is no good as you’ll watch your ball bound towards the town of llanidloes. Use the natural contours to work your ball in from the left, but don’t overdo it or you will leave an impossible up and down.
On The Green
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee A long Par 4 often playing into the wind and uphill that requires a good tee shot to prepare you for a tight approach shot to the green.
From The Fairway Trouble both right and left can leave you in the trees with no option but to chip out side ways. The green slopes towards you and is protected by two small bunkers.
On The Green Further right, left or long could leave you in the dense foolage and a double bogey would then be a good score.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee Once again teeing from the highest point of the golf course, the exposed tee can easily effect your swing in windy conditions.
From The Fairway Aim at the appex of the trees that seperate the 2nd and 9th Fairways in the distance will keep you out of trouble.
On The Green Probable the most difficult 2nd shot on the course to an upside down saucer of a green, that prodimently throws your ball into the bunker on the left or through the back.
