From The Fairway Favour the left side with your tee shot and try to move the ball in the direction of the hole

On The Green You should be left with a mid-iron into the raised green. Beware, however, the bunker front left, which will punish any miss-hit or poor club choice. Making a 4 from this bunker will be a good effort.

From The Tee A blind tee shot for this tough par 4/5.

From The Fairway Aim slightly left of the marker post with a driver as the fairway slopes left to right, to give the best approach to the green. A tee shot to the right will end up, not only in thick rough but will all too often leave a fruitless search for your ball.

On The Green A beautiful approach to a sunken green, with a terrific left to right camber, framed by the village of Cowden in the background and a lake to the side will bring the water into play. Many a golfers scorecard has been tarnished by this signature hole.

From The Tee The first par 3 on the course but if you were hoping for any respite there is little to be found on this picturesque hole which features an anxious shot over water.

From The Fairway Trees hug the left to punish any pulls… and a bunker to the right does the same to the reverse

On The Green . The green slopes from back to front so leave yourself an uphill putt to save yourself a lightning putt down the hill

From The Tee A drivable par 4 for the longer hitter, but you must be confident in your ability to hit it straight as there are thick rough, trees, a pond, and bunkers which sow the seeds of doubt in this hole

On The Green .Using a short iron for your approach, take aim at the Doric temple to make sure of a putt up the hill on what must be one of the toughest greens on the golf course, prompting one member to exclaim that it must have been designed by the devil himself

From The Tee A hole that really changes with the seasons, make club selection key or risk the two ‘links-style’ bunkers that stare defiantly back at you from the tee, the sleepers that frame them can send your ball back into the stream and ruin a scorecard.

From The Tee A driver may be too long for this dog-leg par 4, so aim a 3 wood up the left half and watch it break towards the ditch providing the shortest approach possible to the raised green

From The Fairway .A word of warning, do not go right off the tee as a Phil Mickelson recovery shot will be required

On The Green . The green slants ferociously from back to front so a long approach will be punished.A three or even a 4 putt from down or across the green are commonplace so if you do anything on this hole – make sure you leave yourself a nice easy two-putt up the hill.

From The Fairway Do you play safe with an iron up the middle, but which leaves a lot of golf left to make par, or do you take the corner on with the driver, thereby bringing in out-of-bounds?

On The Green The fairway feeds downhill making a well-struck second shot essential or wave your ball temporarily goodbye over the bank at the back of this small but relatively flat green

From The Tee A blind tee shot to start the back 9 up the hill,

From The Fairway . Aim dead centre over the stick to avoid the four strategically placed bunkers both left and right of the fairway.A good tee shot will leave a short iron into the raised green but watch out for the wind

On The Green however, which can see the ball come back towards you. Avoid the large bunker to the right half of the green and an easy green will provide a good birdie chance

From The Fairway 4. Too far right or too straight with a long club will leave an anxious search for your ball. If you are a confident ball-striker aim at the trees for best results and perfect positioning

On The Green Make a 4 here and you can head to the 12th tee via the bar for a well-earned refreshment.

From The Fairway Not only will you have a gallery from the clubhouse but from the back tees a narrow avenue to drive through.

On The Green .Get a good drive away and a 3 or a 4 will certainly be on the cards to this accessible green.Playing this hole at twilight is a must, simply beautiful

From The Tee The start of Sweetwood’s very own Amen corner – two hard par-5s and a long par-3… Be wary out of bounds punishes the pushed tee shot.

From The Fairway the perfect drive will start up the left and feed round, which would leave a long but makeable shot into the greenFor the less brave – or perhaps smarter – player, you may lay up before the well-placed stream across the fairway.

On The Green The approach will be from around 150 yards to this long green. Apart from a few subtle breaks, putting on this surface should not present much of a prO-Blem.

From The Tee The hole to take your photos of the day on this beautiful par 3 finds you teeing off from what is essentially an island in the middle of a lake, up onto a raised two-tiered green.

On The Green Take enough club, since any miss-hit will find your ball rolling down the slope and into the lake you may have been so anxious to clear in the first place.But beware the long shot as a devilish little chip or bunker shot will await you requiring a delicate touch and nerves of steel

From The Fairway . Take aim left of the large and looming Eisenhoweresque tree guarding the centre of the fairway

On The Green Anything right will take a skip into dense woodland.You are left with a mid-iron approach to a two-teared green guarded by 3 greenside bunkers.Make a 4 in front of the inevitable watching gallery and reward yourself with a well-earned drink
