Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee The par 3' s at the Ferns are each surrounded by their unique hazard.
From The Fairway Hole #2 is surrounded by water. The back of the green is protected by a large sand trap. Yardages vary from 121 yards from the Reds to 201 yards from the Golds.
On The Green If you are unlucky enough to hear a splash, there is a drop area behind the green on the left. Once on the green the challenge is not over. Depending on the pin placement, three putts have been marked on many score cards. Bring your "A" game to Hole #3
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee From the tee decks (at the top of the photo, outlined by stones), one must drive over the larger pond and place the ball between the smaller pond and the tree line shown in the bottom left of the photo.
From The Fairway A 150 yard second shot remains to an elevated green , protected by a U shaped bunker guarding the front and left side of the green.
On The Green
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway A dog leg left, the landing area is shown on the right side of the photo. Errant drives will find the smaller pond or the large maple trees guarding the right side of the fairway.
On The Green Two large bunkers protect the right side of the green. A line of trees running from the landing area along the left side of the green must be avoided.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee A hole everyone remembers! Outlined in red the tee decks are in the upper left hand corner. The tee shot is out of a chute of maple trees to a landing area 70 feet below.
From The Fairway While the landing area is fairly large, the target area is only 50 feet wide. From the target area the second shot is through a narrow opening in some of our oldest and largest maple trees.
On The Green After playing two precise shots, you will be positioned in front of an elevated green, completely surrrounded by trees, and protected by a large bunker in front.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee The tee shot from the gold tee block is partially blocked by our "Eisenhower" tree. The right side of the landing area is visible, the left side requires a high shot over the "Eisenhower" tree.
From The Fairway The blue tee deck, on the right side of the photo, is only partially affected by the "Eisenhower" tree. The white and red decks, which are further up and to the right, are not affected by the tree.
On The Green The green, which is tucked into the side of a hill, is protected by large maple trees on the front right and along the back of the green. If the pin placement is on the right side of the green, it is only accessabile from the left side of the landing area.
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee A challenging par 5, reachable with two shots. The hole is lined from tee to green with hard wood trees. The fairway in several locations is less than 100 feet wide.
From The Fairway The tee shot is out of a chute to a generous landing area (by the Ferns standards) but must be placed on the left side of the fairway to allow a clear 2nd shot to the green.
On The Green A lateral hazard, cleared of debris, runs down both sides of the fairway. This allows the ball to be found easily, leaving the player with the decision of taking a penalty stroke or of playing the ball where it lies.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee The tee shot plays to a generous landing area guarded by two strategically place sand traps. Big hitters can go for this green in two shots.
From The Fairway They face a long shot over a pond guarding the front of the green and two large bunkers guarding the back of the green. The green is very unusual with a width of 35 ft. and a length of 135 ft. The safest approach to the 15 th green is to lay up with a second shot to the left of the green in a position similar to the photo.
On The Green From this position the pond and the sand traps are taken out of play. The photo shows a pin placement near the back of the green. However, chip a little to the right and you could roll down the hill into the pond.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee A Par 4 from the Gold tee deck and a Par 5 from the Blue, White and Red tee decks. A golfer can put himself in position for a second shot to the green by driving the ball to the edge of a plateau, about 150-180 feet from the green.
From The Fairway The green is positioned at the top of a second plateau with a pond and trees guarding the left side and a steep incline guarding the front of the green.
On The Green The fairway is lined with large maple trees along the entire right side. Most golfers will play 18 in three shots. A properly placed second shot will put you in position for a wedge shot to this elevated green.
