From The Tee The Fourth at Turnberry is based on the famous "Postage Stamp", the Eighth Hole at Royal Troon on the western coast of Scotland.
From The Fairway The name of the hole was coined by famed golfer Willie Park who said that the hole had "a pitching surface skimmed down to the size of a postage stamp."
From The Tee Initially conceived to play in the opposite direction, the Fifth Hole plays over a pond.
From The Fairway It can be played from two distinct tee boxes which dramatically alters the angle of approach.
On The Green A forced carry over the pond is required, with two bunkers on either side of the green helping to define the putting surface from the tee.
From The Tee A bunkerless hole, this Par 3 is protected by large undulations within the green. "The green reminded me of a potato chip" designer Cam Tyers recalls.

On The Green The 5,000 square foot putting surface is one of the smaller greens at Turnberry and the raised green creates deep chipping hollows, a feature that recurs throughout the golf course.
On The Green The Eighth Hole plays down to, and across a small burn to the double green shared with the Second Hole. The green is sloped hard left to right, towards the burn.
From The Tee At 8,000 square feet, the Ninth has one of the largest putting surfaces on the course.
From The Fairway You will need every bit of it when the wind is up, as it is a long carry across the pond to a green with a front level that dips down, moving up to different back sections.
From The Tee The Tenth Hole gives the golfer a chance to breathe. No water and plenty of short grass surrounding the green allows for creative recovery shots.
From The Fairway Take advantage here because Turnberry's teeth come out next.
From The Tee The Eleventh demands an exceptionally difficult tee shot over a knoll and bunker, to a green that plays away from the direction of the tee shot and down towards the left.
From The Fairway Golfers are expected to feed the shot from the right, allowing the ball to release towards the pin.
From The Tee This beautiful hole is taken from the heroic school of golf design, featuring an all or nothing tee shot over the pond.
From The Fairway
On The Green The green does not have bunkers to protect it though, allowing golfers the chance for recovery if they clear the pond but fail to find the putting surface.
From The Tee After playing 16 consecutive Par 3's, golfers will be faced with a Par 4 that plays along an expansive hill which runs the length of the left side of the hole.
From The Fairway A good drive gives you a chance to end a challenging round on a great note.
