Hole 1
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway Start your day off with a challenge! A drive hit down the center of this densely tree lined fairway will avoid the fairway bunkers on the left and right.
On The Green The first green introduces you to the typical Uplands putting surface, very large with subtle breaks. Three large bunkers guard this green, and a back right pin position will yield few birdie chances.
Hole 2
Hole Name
From The Tee This tree-lined hole has sand staring at you off the tee, a large fairway bunker on the left, and a larger greenside bunker on the right frame this hole.
From The Fairway Sloping towards the player, this green is long and slender with mounding and run off areas to the left. Selecting the correct club for your approach shot is key to walking off this green with a birdie.
On The Green
Hole 3
Hole Name
From The Tee With out of bounds lining the entire right side, and mounds and trees awaiting you on the left, this par 4 is one of the most daunting tee shots on the front nine.
From The Fairway
On The Green This deceptive green slopes more severely from left to right than it appears. Guarding this hole is a deep greenside side bunker on the right, as well as a large Garry Oak to the left of this green. A precise second shot is paramount.
Hole 4
Hole Name
From The Tee The first par 3 on the course is a great introduction to what our 6 different tee blocks offer, as this hole can play up to 65 yards different from front to back tees.
From The Fairway
On The Green An accurate approach to this left to right contoured green is needed as you try to block from your vision the massive front right bunker, writing down a three on your scorecard here is a great feeling.
Hole 5
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway A slightly elevated tee and a wide looking fairway lure you into hitting a driver here, however this fairway pinches in to only 13 yards wide in the landing area. Two deep fairway bunkers protect the left side of the fairway, as does a garry oak and sequoia protect the right.
On The Green Straight is definitely needed here. Another large green is well guarded by front left, back left, and back right greenside bunkers, as well as mounding on the left and right. Two well struck shots followed by two accurate putts will lead to a solid par.
Hole 6
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway Welcome to the #1 stroke hole on the course. This long par 4 dog leg right can play anywhere from 380 to 460 yards. Any drive hit into either of the two deep right side fairway bunkers will force a lay-up and a struggle to make par.
On The Green Guarded by a massive garry oak short left, this green has two humps running width wise, dividing the green into three tiers. Two putts on the green and four shots total deserves a pat on the back as you walk to the next hole.
Hole 7
Hole Name
From The Tee The front nine’s only par 5 demands a straight tee shot (noticing a pattern?). Left and right fairway bunkers frame the tee shot, as do large trees and heavy rough. A good tee shot will leave a fairway wood or hybrid approach, but any approach shots hit offline will be swallowed up by a short right bunker, a left greenside bunker, or the large collection area to the right of the green.
From The Fairway
On The Green This green has a small valley running through the middle front which causes the front and back to slope towards it. Nothing wrong with a score of par here.
Hole 8
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway When you stand on the tee of this short par 4, the key is to choose where you want to hit your second shot from. Four deep elevated fairway bunkers on the left and right stare you straight in the eye, as do two golf ball swallowing sequoia trees.
On The Green A strategic choice of club off the tee will leave you hitting a wedge into this bunker protected green. Avoid the pot bunker short right of the green at all costs.
Hole 9
Hole Name
From The Tee The front nine ends with a mid to long par 3 and a difficult tee shot. Diverse elevated tee blocks range this hole from 115 to 202 yards.
From The Fairway
On The Green The green slopes back to front and is well guarded by a very large left greenside bunker, as well as dense trees running from tee to green up the right. Two putts for a par will leave you walking to the back nine with a smile on your face.
Hole 10
Hole Name
From The Tee This medium length slight dogleg right can play anywhere from 255 yards to 361 yards, a great opportunity to start the back nine with a birdie. A large Fairway bunker down the right, and trees lining the left, require an accurate tee shot.
From The Fairway
On The Green Boasting one of the longest greens at Uplands, it can be a difference of three clubs from front to back. A large, deep bunker runs the length of the right side of this green and is paired with contoured mounding along the left.
Hole 11
Hole Name
From The Tee The tee blocks on this straight away par 3 vary by up to 50 yards. Front left, and back right greenside bunkers await a miss hit shot into this subtly sloped green. Although the 18th ranked stroke hole, take your par happily and be on your way.
From The Fairway
On The Green
Hole 12
Hole Name
From The Tee Once the tee shot has been navigated, hitting into this severely sloped back to front green demands the correct club selection.
From The Fairway Standing on the 12h tee you stare out at a heavily tree lined hole, a massive left side fairway bunker, a contoured fairway and the clubhouse in the distance. As is the norm throughout your round, a long straight drive is required.
On The Green A greenside bunker on the left will collect errant approach shots; and beware of being above this hole. 4 shots and a par deserve a treat at the snackbar!
Hole 13
Hole Name
From The Tee What’s a golf course without a risk reward par 4? Decision time, take a driver off the tee and risk the water looming front right of the green, or a positional iron shot in the fairway.
From The Fairway The lay-up is no gimme though as there are two massive fairway bunkers down the left side to take on. Once your ball reaches the green, you’re met with a ridge that runs the length of the putting surface, giving this hole some spectacular pin positions. This hole yields eagles, birdies, pars and temper tantrums.
On The Green
Hole 14
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway This dogleg left is one of the most challenging holes on the course. A large sequoia tree protects the corner of the dogleg, and a sloping fairway leads directly towards a pond up the right side.
On The Green A good drive can still leave a challenging second shot into a green that is sloped back to front, and protected by bunkers and many contours. A par on this hole is definitely brag-worthy.
Hole 15
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway This short but treacherous par 5 is the definition of a dog leg right. A large fairway bunker stares you in the face straight off the tee and severely tightens up your tee shot landing area.
On The Green Your ability to curve the ball left to right off the tee, will define your yardage left into this green for your second shot. Be sure to aim your second shot to the left, as the inviting lay up area slopes to the right where a large pond awaits an errant shot. This small green with a false front, and a right side that slopes off, demands an accurate approach.
Hole 16
Hole Name
From The Tee Advice? Lay-up off the tee with a long iron, hit an approach to the middle of the green, try for two putts, and run to the next tee.
From The Fairway Short and tree lined, anything off the fairway risks a sideways pitch-out. Guarding this hole are dense overhanging oak tree limbs, and a green that slopes severely front to back, a down hill putt here is the definition of a knee knocker.
On The Green
Hole 17
Hole Name
From The Tee An elevated tee box provides spectacular views of the snow-capped Olympic Mountains, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and a panorama of Victoria’s downtown core. This par 3 can play anywhere from 105 to 185 yards.
From The Fairway
On The Green Situated underneath the shelter of large garry oak limbs, this left to right sloping green is well protected and yields few birdies, but an accurately struck tee shot left below the hole gives you your best chance at a birdie two.
Hole 18
Hole Name
From The Tee
From The Fairway This finishing par 4 can play anywhere from 280 yards to 406 yards, it has out of bounds and massive trees looming on both sides of the fairway, and a great view of the clubhouse in the backdrop.
On The Green A nice drive up the slightly inclined fairway will leave a second shot into a raised green protected by a back bunker, mounding on the left, and a ridge running the width of the green. An approach left below the hole will lead to a great chance at birdie. Take a par, then take a seat in the 19th!
